Superbowl = 14 million+ viewers. They couldn't figure out Money/Pac for that?

Question. I saw Fat D tweet something like superbowl had 114 million viewers, which is 100 times more than the most watched boxing match of the year. Question is, when they say a fight had 1.5 million views it means 1.5 million TVs where on watching the fight, right (same thing than when they say a fight got 1.5 million ppv buys)? Cause I'm pretty sure 114 million viewers during the superbowl means an estimated amount of ppl watching the game, not that 114 million TVs where on showing the game, as America has a population of about 300 million so it doesn't make sense that 114 million TVs where on with the game.

Yeah I was wrong with the 14million. Forgot the 114 mil. I know it takes time to plan and develop those spots and getting it in the lineup. I was just hoping that getting the fight official and announce at least the day before, day of or day after (considering how active all of the sports fans who will be online, checking ESPN, sports sites, etc). Not saying it can't do well. Not saying it is easy to make a fight like this. But if it is anywhere near close, I just wonder if that was any kind of major consideration of if it was a non issue (trying to get it official to maximize sports fan hype to make an announcement during a red hot sports weekend). Even if not during the Superbowl telecaste, then even the announcement would make Sports Center, ESPN.com, social networks, etc while people are red hot about the Superbowl results and commercials. Oh well. It will still be big if they can get their stuff together.

What is very interesting is the superbowl 114 million was the highest rated TV event in USA. Biggest superbowl ratings ever, and guess what it got a boost from people waiting to see if Mayweather vs. Pacquiao was going to be announced. I was at the market picking up some sodas the morning of the superbowl and in the line they had people talking about the game but someone mentioned I heard they are going to announce the Mayweather Manny fight, and one of the grocery guys who said he wasn;t going to watch siad Im going to have to check that out. How big of a boost? I am not sure, maybe a few million, just check Twitter out it was going hot for Mayweather vs Pacquiao, a lot of people were tweeting and on Facebook saying watching the superbowl waiting for the cant miss Mayweather Pacquiao announcement, but not announcement yet.

The Super Bowl was on NBC. Floyd gets paid by CBS. CBS is not paying it's arch rival $10 million for a 30 second ad.

When this fight is officially announced it will be in every newspaper and evening news all over the world and heard by 100s of millions of people .

It's the biggest fight in the world and they haven't gotten it done for over 7 years. It wasn't gonna be that easy to just get it done for the super bowl.

Why would anyone spend millions on promoting a fight that doesn't even have a contract yet?

They're trying to get a May 2nd showdown ready. They missed their biggest press opportunity to at least play a 30 second hype video highlighting that the biggest fight to made made is on...in front of 14 million houses/faces/boxes or however they tally the numbers. Could have helped with preparing big numbers for all involved (fighters, promoters, networks, etc) to live up to an expected 3+ million PPV buyrate. It costs 4.5 million to advertise during the Superbowl. An unnecessary expense. Also there is no fight made yet. It may not be made at all. Mayweather mighg just fight Khan instead on may 2nd
