He looked awful in his last fight. This guy was being touted as the next big thing at SMW.
Has Froch took his soul like he did to Bute? Or can Groves come back and become a world champion?
I still think he has the talent to beat Anthony Dirrell.

I just wrote it in plain english. How could you possibly not have understood it?
It was as a rebuttal towards the term 'ruined by Froch' in case you somehow possibly missed it. I think the term 'ruined' is overused. I dont know if you can possibly understand that stance.
Your argument is baseless.
It's impossible to make that argument using any kind of logic.
He made the biggest mistake when he split with Booth. He is not half the fighter he might have been.
Being KOed by Carl just add to that.. He would get beat by James in the rematch.
This. Fitzpatrick is a terrible trainer and Groves has gone backwards under him. He could still be a force to be reckoned with if he got a good trainer. Would be interesting to see him under Hunter.
It's pretty unequivocal that Froch ruined Bute. He knocked out Andrade easily in a rematch but has yet to exercise his rematch clause against Froch. No hard to see why.
I think that Bute never was that good. Andrade was foolish in the rematch. Against the limited Magee Bute ate plenty of clean right hands.
As for Groves, the early signs don't look good. He exuded so much confidence and arrogance in the build-up to the rematch only to get flattened in front of 80,000 people. Got to be difficult to overcome mentally more than anything.
Yes, he'll have to show the mentality of a champ to get a World title. He is still young, so we'll have to wait and see what the future brings. I think he has a good chance against Dirrell. Same if he ever fought stablemate Abraham.
That KO definitely affected him BUT I think the bigger issue was his split with Booth. Booth is a legitimately good trainer and Groves didn't even seem the same in the second fight. He seemed worse in EVERY sense. In the first fight, he only left Booth for a very short period of time so most of the ground work for the first fight was done with Booth plus he could have done with his knowledge in the corner.
Groves also doesn't have the best stamina, he fades in the mid to late rounds pretty badly whereas Froch is even more dangerous then usually because of that.
Dirrell would also tool him. At this point, DeGale would beat him too.
DeGale would beat him at this stage, I'd agree but I'm not so sure bout Anthony, he isn't really truly top level in my opinion and if Groves has the correct game plan and is fit enough, he would take Dirrell.

I'm well aware of how the fight unfolded.
Again, how can you possibly argue that that fight ruined Bute?

He was never that good. He is an above average fighter who got KOed twice by his best opponent. He's similar to a Malignaggi level fighter. Good enough to get a paper title and beat other contenders, not good enough to beat the elite.
I thought Groves made himself look very foolish during the build up to the second fight. He set himself up for a massive fall.
All that "Everything for a reason" bollocks. I don't think he had his mind on the actual fight, he was more obsessed with trying to get under Froch's skin.
Froch has ruined him, absolutely.
Groves has looked extremely loose in both fights after getting flattened. His punches are loose and don't have the same snap, his defence is very loose, he generally looks slower and his timing seems to have gone.
Cobra'd? It looks that way.
How can he have taken his soul if he starched him in the rematch, starched Miranda, and went on a KO streak up to Glen Johnson who he shut out a lot easier than Froch managed?
That's what had him ranked #1 by The Ring Magazine
How can that be a ruined fighter?
After Froch, he's had two fights, one close decision against Grachev where he looked awful and a loss to Jean Pascal.
That is what is likely a ruined fighter.
Precisely.
Bute pretty much dominated the rest of the fight, didn't he?
Then he knocked him out in the rematch and went on quite a long KO streak.
His confidence was so high that he took the fight in Nottigham
:lol1: @ "Andrade took his soul"
Literally makes no sense.
There is no case he was ruined by Andrade. None. Zero.
Let alone a "stronger" case.
His failure to get up on time was mostly due to exhaustion than him being actually hurt by the punch, so even if he was down for 10 it wasn't like Williams-Martinez type of situation where that one knockdown ruined him.
Not to mention Bute had Andrade the whole fight minus the knockdown. Even if Andrade did take his soul, Bute got it right back by knocking him out in the rematch.
There is a reason why Bute didn't pursue the rematch against Froch.

What happened to Bute was something I had called quite a while ago. At least Felix Sturm with a similar career is a genuine force/talent and has recently resurrected some dignity by fighting Barker.
I wouldn't put weight in Macklin and Murray because they were green contenders when he fought them.

Since he was totally exhausted, out on his feet and saved by the referee. How could you possibly have missed that?
