Question, why do most people believe Cotto is done?

He would look sensational against competition he could bully. Public was fooled big time by that Martinez victory. Martinez was a lame duck.

Its not that he's done, its that hes not a great fighter and hes not a real middleweight. Very good yes, but not great and his best years were at 140.

The only two Cotto fights that matter to me as his fan are a rematch with Pac and a rematch with Floyd but not at the cost of not getting Floyd/Pac. I only care about those rematches because he is at the end of his career, I don't buy into the rejuvenated theory my belief is that he is conserving energy by not over training any more and taking long recovery breaks between fights. I believe he looses against GGG but not as easy as many people around here say. I also believe he looses against Canelo in a hard fought fight. I also feel that if he decides to keep the MW belt he needs to face his mandatory who happens to be the man everyone thinks is the best MW GGG. I like Cotto too but imo the fights for him were Canelo and a Floyd rematch after Floyd-Pac if Floyd won. Pac fight is a non-starter. But Cotto inexplicably didn't make the Canelo fight, wtf? I think he's more attacking under Roach, in better shape under McMillan. Whether he's truly "rejuvenated" is up for debate until he fights another live body but he looks a lot better in his last two fights. I get what your saying but he probably only intends to fight one or two more fights which leaves no room for any fights against up and coming contenders. He is about making as much money as possible right now and he was probably waiting on Floyd/Pac negotiations to be settled. I think Floyd/Pac happens and somehow Cotto is getting a consolation prize from Haymon for stalling the Canelo fight.

This Its all mainly cottos fault. He was a greedy ego centric bastard. didn't want to pay his uncle. (I know there was a suit for payment of training fees). Then he fired stewart because he asked for too much money. He was training himself between trainers. Thinking he could do it himself. At least now he learned. Pay for a good trainer and keep it moving. Money follows. Your right about the Emanuel situation but wrong about his uncle. He broke ties with his uncle because he (uncle) did not want to go to train Cotto in Orlando, they had an argument about it and it got physical. The law suit was for money's lost for the fights that immediately followed the break up because Cotto did not legally separate from his uncle (breach of contract) legally before moving on with his career.

Why is it that most people here believe Cotto is washed up can only beat cripples and is not a great fighter, yet everyone is willing to pay big money to watch him take on Canelo and half of the people on here believe he will kill Canelo. The kid is only 24 only lost once against Floyd and is improving in every fight. The non great cripple beating Cotto is the guy everyone wants to see in the second biggest fight that can happen in 2015 yet he is a ducking washed up diva, gay eye brow plucker and cripple beater. Never been KOed in his career but will get KOed in four rounds by GGG, I personally believe Cotto can't beat GGG, but he's a harder fight for GGG than most think. I won't say he is done but he is well past his best, Marg beat the prime out of him and Pacquiao beat the second best version of Cotto. Floyd will be fighting Manny and you will say he had too , even after Floyd beats Manny you will say its because Manny was shot . If there is side doors with plaques that say Vargas and Cotto , we all know who is fighting a real elite opponent . and if you followed cotto's career you would know that he fought very different from his days with his uncle. He basically was training himself after the margacheat loss, until he hooked up with pedro diaz (which was a terrible mash cuz cotto is an attacker and diaz was training him to box more instead). This... He's done on the top level. When you lose to Trout... Roach can match him smartly and make him look like he's stil word class, doe. /thread. Roach does not pick his opponents, he is done at the top level hu? Yet everyone wants him to fight Canelo and or GGG why would you want to see an old washed up fighter against those guys?

again, you are being very vague, so i will make it easier for you to be specific... or harder for you to be vague. please just answer these questions. when has cotto beaten the man considered the bast in any division? what is easier to prove, martinez had a bad knee vs cotto, or margarito had loaded gloves vs cotto, and which one do you do you believe? how many welters can you name that became better fighters in their mid 30s than they were in their late 20s? i dont want explanations why you cant give a simple answer, just the answer without any buts. I didn't say anything about Cotto being a better fighter today my point was that he tried to go back to being a boxer and it did not work. Again he fought the guys available or put in front of him and 95% of the time came out on top while entertaining all boxing fans. Sergio's knee issues were known prior to the fight and yet 40% of people on here thought a damaged Sergio would still hand Miguel a loss. As far as Margarito's concern Cotto won the rematch and Margarito retired that erased the results of the first fight regardless of the controversy. I wasn't being vague about anything the question I asked was, why are people saying he is done yet at the same time he is expected to participate in the second most important fight today and some believe he will win that fight. You have got to understand Boxing Scene , you asked this question during an avalanche of rumors off a Floyd rematch , consequently your question is receiving posts from Pac retards , that should paint you the picture . If Cotto was fighting Manny he would be a rejuvenated beast , the possibility of Floyd makes Cotto a washed up bum . Only in Boxing Scene will you see this level of ignorance and bias .

He took a couple of frightful beatings against Margarito and Pacquaio. He's not been the same since then. He hasn't really faced anyone with that kinda style who'll take it to him except a shot, one eyed dead man in Margarito II. He's faced shot fighters or boxers and it's probably helped build his mental confidence back up, that and the teaming up with Roach but he'd still get taken out by a younger guy who took it to him. I think Canelo could have given him the business if he fought in a more aggressive style and Golovkin would literally end his life.

How about this question - looking at the WW's of the past decade, where does Cotto stack up? hes right behind May and Pac with Oscar De La Hoya and Shane Mosley. None of these other WWs over the past decade are touching Cotto.Whose gonna beat him? Cotto stops Victor Ortiz, Andre berto, Amir Khan and Kell Brook.
