A lot of people feel like Cotto is a different fighter under Freddie Roach and could possibly pull off the upset the second time around. Roach seems pretty confident as well.
And I know this isn't the fight we all want to see but it has a pretty good chance of happening.
No.
When in history has a former 10-2, at best 9-3 fight been a competitive fight when neither guy is shot to shyte?
All this hype about Cotto all the sudden being a "new" fighter under Roach, is rubbish.
He's still the same ole Cotto, but 2-3 years older, and more shopworn.
Fight is a disgrace if it happens.
Fook, at least Algieri presented a new style, and was a young, undefeated opponent.
You put Algieri and Cotto in the same breath , youre a Manny fanboy of the highest order , Algieri is a C grade amateur , Cotto is elite .
How about Floyd fight Algieri and Manny fight 155 Cotto for the MW title , but wait Floyd would be cherry picking a nobody while Manny refuses to fight Cotto .
GTFOH with youre fanboy BS .
Cotto weighed in at 54 the first time because that's the most he could weigh in at. You're speaking of a different weight class, your point is mute. Cotto could repeat and weigh in at 155 if he likes but if a belt is on the line, let there at least be the impression that either fighter could weigh near the division limit. And I'm inclined to believe Cotto takes full advantage and weighs in at like 156.5.
Who the f*ck fights for the 160 belt at a 155 cw? Wasn't the Martinez fight a cw of 158?
As far as May fans, yeah they're flip-flopping right now, at first it wasn't remotely competitive and now there is some much intrigue there for them.
I realize the weight limit for junior middleweight is 154. I brought up the Mayweather and Martinez weights to illustrate that even when given the opportunity to weigh up to 160, Cotto came in at 155.
I think we're kind of on the same page though. My point of not having a catch weight is because A) Cotto will most likely not even come close to the 160 limit. B) Mayweather would be going after the smallest middleweight and one that he already beat. Why cheapen the victory with a catch weight.
I think it will be and more competitive than the first fight.
Floyds slowed down, Cotto isn't going to spend 7 rounds trying to outbox him this time, hes in better shape and has a trainer better suited to him, his style and the style needed.
I think its a very competitive fight and more so than Manny.
This is the key. Don't you all remember how Floyd looked at 147 against iceberg slow Maidana in September? He's gonna have issues against bigger, better, and stronger fighter in MC.
Cotto went 39-0 at 140 and is 7-4 above that weight.
So it's hard to make a case that he was a better fighter when he fought Floyd at 154 especially when he barely won a round against Austin Trout a few mths later at the same weight.
Come on now. You know that's not true.
What's the point of a 157 catchweight, neither will likely come in at the limit. Cotto weighed 154 when he fought Mayweather and 155 when he fought Martinez.
Not interested in this fight. Not too long ago a majority of the Mayweather fans said he was too small to face the best at middleweight, now they want to see him make history. Go figure.

I am maybe only second to El Angel as one of Cotto's diehard fans, but based on Floyd's history of training harder and therefore performing much better in rematches. I have to say that the rematch will not be competitive specially if Cotto the boxer shows up, the only version of Cotto that has a chance is the bully. Freddie needs to study Floyd/Maidana one and work on making those looping right hand shots more accurate for Cotto. Floyd easily beats conventional boxers he struggle a little with reckless fighters with unconventional styles that's why Pac beats him IMO.

Cotto completely disregarded trout. Look up the all access episodes of that fight and watch the interviews. He woukd smirk at trout. Trained like he was fighting butter bean and deserved to loose that fight. He looked terrible in that fight becuase he expected to walk through that fight. Trout on the other hand fought like it was the fight of his life. It was. Kudos to trout and shame on Cotto.
I lost a lot of respect for cotto becuSe of that. I was going to stop following him. But he hired Freddie and literally bowed down to him. Meaning he does exactly as told by Freddie. And it shows. I think Cotto under roach makes a very tough fight for mayweTher. Wether he wins remains to be seen.
Btw. The Cotto who fought martinez dismantles trout.
I think its a tougher fight for Floyd for 2 reasons , it will be fought a little higher weight which will suit Cotto and I think Cotto is on a bit of a high and Floyd has slipped since they last met .
I believe Cotto is a tougher fight for Floyd than what Manny is .
I think cotto and paq are equal threats. Cotto is much stronger than Floyd and paq is much faster. Those are the only fights I wanna see for Floyd. All other pose zero threat. Only the "new" guys think otherwise. What I mean by new is those who want to see someone new in there with Floyd rather than a Cotto rematch. Really khan over Cotto. Not me
I think it's competitive, I don't mind the fight. First bout was hard fought, but Cotto looks in better shape now and has a better trainer. Floyd didn't look so great in 2014 so there's intrigue.
It's just that it comes at the expense of Pacquiao fight, and a Canelo fight, that's the problem.
**** this fight!!! Mayweather ruined two great fights...May vs Pac and Canelo vs Cotto.
Relax ese. Both those fights are going to happen. Just not when u want them. Be patient.
10-2 is not competitive.
Sure if that was the score. Fight was more like 8-4 7-5. 8-4 is as low as u could go on that fight. 10-2 na. Whoever scored it that low didn't see the same fight I did. Mayweather certainly won. Cotto certainly ran out of gas. A better trained and conditioned cotto will give mayweather problems.
Piss of dead sht , 145 and 10 pounds bigger is a world of difference and only fanboys disregard the weights like they dont matter , when these top guys are splitting a pound or 2 and you think 10 dont matter , retarded .

May vs Pac is the joke fight. Pac has been fighting c level fighters and he gets a pass, but Mayweather has been fighting champs and guys coming off wins and he gets crucified. When Mayweather busts up Pac like he did Gatti (RIP), he crybabies will say that Mayweather cherrypicked pac, and how he waited until Pac got old and all the other dumb **** you people say on here. Personally, I don't want to see the fight because I lost interest a long time ago. There are many other intriguing fights to be made, so lets encourage that, **** Mayweather and Pac, more so Pac for fighting Algerie and now he may fight Vargas. Why don't he fight Canelo, or Broner, Maidana, because Bob will never put him in there with the likes of these fighters.
Mark me among those. Pacquaio is visibly way past prime and his intense offensive style ages much faster, beating him at this point will never erase the questions of who was better in their primes. I won't give Floyd much credit even if he totally outboxed him. I can't, it would be dishonest to ignore the years of ducking.
It depends.
Does Mayweather stick and move or does he make it and 'exciting fight for the fans' and stay on the ropes.
If he boxes its not even competitive. If he stays on the ropes then Cotto stands a better chance.

Pac fought and beat the no3 p4p guy less than a year ago, while Floyd fought a guy who couldn't win a single round against Devon Alexander, twice! but ok.
I hate excusing fights when there's another fight we all want to see, but this fight on its own, to me, this fight has its appeal. I don't think Floyd was impressive when they fought at 54, and I do think Cotto is fighting better now. If the middleweight belt is on the line, the catchweight has to be above 155, that's only one pound over jmw. That would be embarrassing. At least 3 pounds over jmw would suffice - 157.
