Won't know if surgery will be required until he meets with the specialist.
Bermane has a gourd like a bowling ball.
If you look at his forehead his skull looks extremely dense, I think skull density plays a role in your punch resistance. Your forehead is the hardest part of your skull too, which Wilder was hitting over and over again.
Wilder picked Stiverne apart with his left hand, he added a powerful short left hook to his arsenal.
He was rocking Stiverne every time he was throwing the right hand but once he fractured it he started throwing it without power.
A broken hand is extremely painful. I've never had one, but everybody who has had one says it is.
I remember George foreman saying "when you break your hand you think you're gonna die ....but you're not gonna die"
Well I have had fractures and it hurts, but we obviously restit, I am guessing when you need to use the hands to punch harder than most men in the World, it will hurt a hell of a lot more. It must be like a nerve in a teeth that ****ing kills, and you need to stick a pin on it over and over.
I think he said he felt it broke during the 4th round. He also damaged his own eye by hitting himself with a rubber band during one of his leg stretches the night before the fight. Apparently it was so bad he couldn't see clearly from the damaged eye, he claimed it was all "cloudy". He says all of this in the press conference after the fight.. It's rolling around on YouTube.
That's hilarious, it would've been a shame if the fight was called off due to that self inflicted rubber band injury lol.
Stiverne complaining after the fight over some non-specific "I just wasn't able to fight the way I wanted for some reason" and goes to hospital for two nights for "dehydration," making him the first heavyweight ever to get dehydrated.
Wilder fights through broken hand and vision problems with no complaint.
It proves the old adage:
Winners adjust, losers make excuses.
Good post.
How long will this broken hand keep him out?
I guess we're not going to see him fight 4 times this year.
Sucks!
Depends how bad and where the break is. I broke my scaphoid and couldnt hit anything for nearly 6 months.
I had a suspicion too cause he kept fixing his gloves, whenever a boxer hurts their hand they always mat down the glove and press it down they want to tighten it up because its painful.
