Look at the Klitch Jennings negotiations. Klitch unhappy it was taking too long so he started to look for other opponents. He didn't call off the fight but he did start looking elsewhere. This is how rational ppl negotiate. Why harm yourself by canceling a fight that you want, if it is still possible? Canelo can find a marketable opponent anytime he wants. There are tons of fighters of all types that will take that fight on short notice.
