I just don't see it guys. What makes this guy so much more special than rigonduex? I know that he isn't really "white"(what makes someone white or not anyway???) and that that is from khazistan but the public doesn't know that they probably think that golovkin is from Russia I don't see why this guy has so much hype around him he has fought noting but bums and has yet to prove himself say (ward, froch) just bumafter bum.......
Geale is white and Rubio has white splotches on him. Sergio is at least 75% white, possibly higher. As you can see, none of those guys count. A hope can't beat up other hopes and act like he did something.
Golovkin's only legit win is Stevens. He a brotha, he the real deal. He looks the way a champion should, just like lineal unified HW champion of the world Deontay Wilder.
:lol1:
I think you might be right on the latter part though, Golovkin gets no "respect in the hood" unless he's beating up a black American.
To be honest I find the term "great white hope" insulting and plain stupid.
It implies that white boxing fans are waiting for a "savior" of sorts to prove that whites are not inferior to other races in boxing. Looking at boxing's current landscape, the are quite clearly not inferior, especially in the higher weight classes, so there's no need for a "great white hope".
I always thought it was waiting for a decent white American boxer that white people could get behind in the States.
His surname is Russian and his father is Russian, so yeah, he's white. I think he's half Asian. He was born in Kazakhstan in the 80s when it was part of the Soviet Union. He is as white as can be. Looks Russian, Russian father, Russian surname, Russian accent.
lol how do you reconcile these two? He's clearly not as "white as can be", he's half Korean. His Kazakh accent, and Russian surname are irrelevant to his race which, like Andre Ward, is mixed. His twin bro on the left:

Delete thread. Anyone who cannot see that golovkin has elite skills and talent is just an idiot. And he's not really white. His background is Russian/Korean
I wouldn't just refer to GGG as the great white hope, but as the great hope. Boxing needs another KO artist to become its economic bell cow. Fans will flock to GGG once he starts to get real mainstream attention. ****, everyone that asks me about boxing i refer to GGG.

Rigo's resume is not as different from GGG's as Rigo worshippers would like to believe. And the guy's name is Rigondeaux, get it right.

Rubio & Geale cans? Murray next who should of had a win over Martinez and been Middleweight champion.

Trout was dropped by Vanes in the amateurs.. I wouldn't doubt it happened more often since his chin is pure glass. And you've just went into detail how GGG is a white hope, pathetic from a long time poster, Kev.

never stopped or even down in his 300+wins 5 loss amateur career is a great place to start.
Trout was never down or stopped in the amateurs either. When he stepped up to A-level though, vs Canelo and Trout, things changed. He was even down against that Dawson dude.
Lomachenko had 1 loss supposedly, in 350 wins. He goes and loses to Salido, a tough B class fighter.
Pro ranks are different, you just never know until you actually step up. As decorated as an amateur is. It's like batting .350 in the minors, when you get to those Major League pitchers, you'll be lucky to settle for .270-.280, .300+ only if you are great. You can get strikeout after strikeout and be flawless as a pitcher in the minors, that will not always translate in the majors. Of course baseball is different, a rookie pitcher who was great in the minors will face the best hitters in the league his first 3 years. In boxing, well, look at GGG's resume from 2006-present. How can we know Golovkin is truly a .300 hitter with a resume like that? We know Lomachenko is truly a very good pro, he fought good comp right out the bat. Golovkin is still not there yet after 9 years as a pro.
Well let's see...
Amateur record of 345-5.
Undefeated as a Pro.
Never knock down or out in over 375 fights as a professional and amateur.
With a 90% knockout percentage he holds the highest KO ratio in middleweight championship history and second in overall championship history.
Silver 2004 Athens Olympic Games Middleweight
Gold 2003 Bangkok World Championships Middleweight
Gold 2002 Busan Asian Games Light Middleweight
Gold 2004 Puerto Princesa Asian Championships Middleweight
Devastating punching power.
Kind of special don't you think?
BTW...He has a white Russian father and a Korean mother...not that it matters.
/////thread
He has funny interviews and knock cans out. Hopefully he fights more legit comp soon
Rubio & Geale cans? Murray next who should of had a win over Martinez and been Middleweight champion.
For conformity: ... People always forget that Golovkin is half Russian and half North Korean... :)
(For the meaning of "North Korean", watch "The Interview" movie.)
the term "great white hope" was used when boxing was fat american midwestern guys getting beat up by black guys from the hood
it doesn't really make much sense to call golovkin "great white hope" when his division is already mostly non-american whites, and he's already a dominant champion in it (not to mention he's half korean)
Yeah Algieri was more of a great white hope.
then again the account "wargerie" has to be a joke so why am i explaining this
Sounds like a flomo who wanted Algieri to beat Pac.
Same thing that makes everybody like Kovalev; he kicks the snot out of everybody gets in the ring with him and has not come close to losing thus far.
With me he gets bonus points for appearing to conduct himself as a gentleman in interviews and such.
White's got nothing to do with it unless you don't like him cause he's white.
That you ts?

At least be man enough to post with your real account, don't hide behind an alt.
GGG has clear, undeniable talent. Although I don't think he's ducked by everyone, most of the top names are avoiding him because at this point of his career the risk of facing him outweighs the potential reward.
