For the best part of the decade we've seen the division stuck in eastern Europe, but now...actually for the last 18 months or so, we've seen heavyweight boxing in America, starting to wake up again. There's Jennings, Stiverne (Canada/Us, can fight on American networks), Perez who might be trying to sell in the US, may be still Arreola and of course, American kingpin, Deontay Wilder.
In Europe, we've got the "lost to Klitshcko" club, Pulev, Povetkin, Chisora and some up and coming guys. Why doesn't someone as highly ranked as Povetkin or Pulev go for the WBC belt and then try for a unification with Wlad? Rather than waiting around to get the Wlad call back. Or, why don't the up and comers in the US travel and fight one of the top ranked european guys, rather than...you guessed it, wait out the Wlad/Wilder sweep stakes.
I think there are some top fights to be made, I'd love to see Wilder contend with Povetkin or Pulev, both very established heavyweights. Or Jennings take on Chisora/Stiverne. The division can be hot again, if the guys grow some balls and actually fight each other.
Your opinions?
what are you talking about? .
It's a fact.
Klitshcko was born in Ukraine, which is a country in a continent named Europe.
Ukraine though is not part of the European Union.
In a similar fashion, the U.S. is a country in a continent named America.
If you include boxers from Ukraine in this comparison, then you need to include all Mexicans, Argentinians and so forth, because they are all American.
If you want to compare E.U. to U.S. instead, then neither Klistscho, GGG nor Kovalev should be mentioned.
Easy enough or you need a map? :D
Povetkin has tremendous heart.
What's wrong with you?
you must be on euro crack, I hear that **** is strong. He just kept falling over and was glad to be in a clinch so he could survive, Adamek Chisora were both braver against Vitali than Povetkin was against Wlad and in 5 rounds, Pulev showed more bravery and actually tried to make a fight.
Povetkin has tremendous heart.

Povetkin mounted one of the bravest offensives of all Wladimir challengers. He's an exceptionally skilled for a HW too. And since the WK fight has become even more fierce.
These guys are unbelievable!
I wonder if Wilder would be so kind to cross the atlantic to fight on the world circuit.
I would like to credit Wilder on his victory he surprised me but this is too much to swallow.
oh damn, I forgot about that. He almost lost that fight, I'd love a rematch.
I'm not saying all of a sudden American heavyweight are legitimised but Wilder holds the WBC belt and there are some good fights to be made if guys from both sides of the Atlantic decide to fight one another.
Oh.. So what are the odds then of Wilder crossing the atlantic to fight the REAL HW champion in Germany??
I'd say sweet F/A!
We all know he will only want to do it at home and obviously the A-side will tell him to get F'ed. Rightly so.
European heavyweights are simply superior to American ones as of now and have been for quite some time. The idea that one mediocre American boxer winning a farcical title fight legitimises America's place in heavyweight boxing is ridiculous.
Forget, Europe, there's at least two British heavyweights right now who should be favoured against any of their American counterparts.
I agree!
Britain too has produced outstanding fighters like Haye and Fury, even Chisora was pretty good and Joshua is clearly going to pan out much better than Wilder.
American boxers are the lowest of the lowest of the low :lol1:
Of course I'm being mildly sarcastic here, Wilder, Arreola, Thompson, Jennings, Takam and Perez are good HW boxers of course, but when one of them scores a trinket fighting a LOCAL contest which was relinquished only because a GLOBAL fighter retired it's no cause to start popping the champagne yet!
The guy fought 30 bums straight before facing what any other boxer would call a decent opponent (Scott and Stiverne). And now suddenly he is a world beater? GTFOOH!
When Vitali retired, that trinket should have been fought for by Stiverne and WLADIMIR, who would have punched his head in and unified the titles on the spot!
The fact alone that the relinquished title was slated to be fought for by 2 continental American boxers was the farcial event that started all this disgusting American behaviour and has now condemned HW boxing to a Western HW circuit and an Eastern HW circuit.
We all know Wilder and his little home team pals and gonna hand that title back and forth between themselves and never risk it against any really good opponents don't we ;) ;)
I just hope he makes a mistake of fighting overseas and gets his head punched in and watch it SUDDENLY become a weak era again! :lol1:
That's why I have much more respect for Arreola and Thompson because they had the guts to take on global boxers.

Joshua is the real deal.
Which step up? Against Cruiserweight Huck?

well thats what im waiting for lol
povetkin barely showed any boxing skills against wlad but yeah ,he has a good amateur pedigree and can fight when needed but his first step up was a massive misfire.

I'm sure Povetkin fighting for the WBC title would make him more money than fighting Takam lol Let's get real here.
This isn't a new occurrence, heavyweights over the last decade or so have just been waiting for the klitschko sweepstakes and fighting bums while they miraculously progress up the rankings. At least for 2 years, the division could have been exciting if we had more fights like Fury/Chisora, Perez/Salamov, Mitchell/Banks, TT/Price but they have been few and far between.
Povetkin/Takam in Russia brought in a far bigger purse than the challenger's take on a fight with Deontay Wilder, especially if it's non-PPV.
At least Povetkin was more convincing as a world class boxer. Deontay is still a local bum, just wait until he fights a European.

WHAT?
What about all the bums your main man there Deontay just fought!!!
Unbelievable! :lol1:
yeah but now he is wbc titlist. thats more than we can say for povetkin. if he doesnt step it up, fury may get that title before him and be in with a shot for one of the biggest paydays in heavyweight history with a unification with wlad.

American's aren't doing well at any sports at the moment.
Deontay Wilder is the biggest joke in world boxing, if Haye or Fury get their hands on him then its like taking candy from a baby.
Hahaha =P right on.
Povetkin makes too much money fighting out of Russia, with the same for Pulev in Germany, to be bothered with getting on a plane and flying out to the US/Canada/Mexico. Similar words could be said for Chisora (he's lost a lot of luster on the world level, but he's still got a good enough name to command attention in the UK).
It's gonna take one, or some, of the young guys to go either way. If Matchroom brings Anthony Joshua over (fights four times in 2015, with one of those fights being in the US) things could get interesting.

Povetkin has more chance of getting a rematch with Wlad because he WANTS to fight Wladimir.
Wilder will never risk that belt in Europe now. IT will be the "Americas" HW title now, because you know you'd lose. ;) :lol1:

POVETKIN DOES want a Wladimir rematch you fool!
But does he deserve it? He showed no heart or will in their first match up and since then hasn't really done enough to earn a shot again. Yes the Charr win was impressive but Charr isn't exactly a top tier hw lol
Now, if Povetkin was to go after the WBC belt, he'd be dubiously recognised as a two time champ and give him the perfect spotlight for a Wlad rematch. Right now Fury, Wilder, Jennings and maybe even a comebacking Haye are higher up in the pecking order.
You are close to the dumbest guy on the Scene!
I can't believe you actually made a thread confirming what's been said all along.
Whilst Europe has you shut out of boxing, the era/division sucks.
The moment you play any role in it, suddenly it's "waking up" :lol1:
If you get flogged out "it will be weak again."
If hypothetically, you defeat WK and take over again "it will be a strong era all over again".
It's pathetic!
MORE to the point, your boxers are several leagues below their Euro counterparts, There's no way Wilder or Stiverne from that fight last night could EVER win around against Povetkin, Pulev or Klitschko!
Everyone knows it!
:boxing:
erm....I'm not American, I'm from Britain.
Also, what does everyone know? A few hypothetical fantasy match ups that Povetkin and Pulev are supposed to win?
