SI.com: What do you do with Adonis Stevenson?
SE: The reality is all you can do is try to make the best available compelling fights. You look at a guy like Gennady Golovkin. To be candid, his opponents have not exactly been a murderers row. But he has generated some momentum...
SI.com: Well, the difference with Golovkin is that there is no one in his division chasing him like Sergey Kovalev is going after Stevenson.
SE: Peter Quillin might take exception to that.
SI.com: I think Peter has had his chances.
SE: Look, finding opponents is something we are dealing with. It’s sort of a fact of the business. HBO is experiencing that with some of its welterweights and junior welterweights. You do the best you can with what is available.

I actually agree with most of this. If premium cable has a place in boxing, it should really only exist to finance actual mega fights. If that means only having two televised fights per card, that's fine. The building of stars should take place on network or basic cable tv, not premium cable.
Quillin is afraid to fight GGG and GGG would love to fight Quillin. The reason for this is GGG is a much better fighter than Quillin and would knock him out in a few rounds and they both know it.
Espinoza, Schaefer and Haymon are buddies. Oscar doesn't belong in their group.
Maybe he doesn't belong but he was Oscar's lawyer for years. Before any of this went down.
Well opinion may be one thing. And you may be right -- I haven't read too many opinion pieces from him so I can't comment. That does surprise me though. But without question, he is the best "Fight Report" journalist in boxing today. I don't think it's close.
Sorry wrong guy I was thinking of Lyle Fitzsimmons
C'mon that Jake Donovan line was a joke, right?
Some stories he writes are very emotionally opinionated.
He's as unbiased as Rafael.

That's the real problem. If you don't cater or pander to a certain group, people don't read you. But there are some very fair journalists out there -- even on this website, actually.
Jake Donovan is excellent.
Agreed. Most boxing reporters now, are sh1t.
Any websites need a uninformed, biased, a55 kisser?
I'd really like some press passes if Pac/Floyd happens.

I honestly feel that journalist like Chris are a rare breed these days. He covers other sports like a true professional as he does boxing. Reading some of these solely boxing writers who seem to have come straight from a blog, just don't measure. Like they don't pay the dues to be a part of a real journalist. Instead they make.friends in the industry and bash on everyone outside of that. Just a mean girls club masquerading as writers demanding thier.press passes.

Did he really say 2014 was a great year for his network? Lol. Who does he think he's fooling?
He can't really say "we did a **** job" as the guy in charge.
Read the interview earlier today and thought the same thing.
When the interviewer actual knows the sport and isn't afraid to ask the questions, you can really get some great info.

That interviewer asked him some tough questions. Wish there was more follow-up but I love the candor. You can see where Espinoza is being diplomatic and where he's being candid.

Chris Mannix is a hardcore boxing fan, which makes him being a sports journalist covering boxing that much better.
He's one of my favorites. George Willis. Hauser for research by far. Jake Donovan as well -- best fight report writer by far.
