If Mayweather-Pacquiao and Cotto-Canelo both get made I don't think there will ever be a better year for the sport than this one.
This year could be one of the best years for the sport in all of Boxing history.
Enjoy it while it lasts, friends.
As much as I'm happy that May - Pac is (most likely) finally happening, it still doesn't change the fact that both Floyd and Manny are past their primes.
I will watch it of course, probably get excited too, but it won't be the same as it would've been if this fight happened when it should have happened (5 years ago).
Cotto - Canelo will be good and entertaining, but in reality it's a battle for second place. Same thing with Chavez Jr - Froch.
Fights I'm looking forward to most are: GGG - Ward, Rigondeaux - Lomachenko, Kovalev - Stevenson.
Overall, it will be a good year for boxing (I hope) but I doubt it will be the greatest in more than a decade (2013 was pretty awesome too).

I doubt it ,ail be good other than theses fights I see Boxers splitting into Roc Nation, Top Rank, Al Haymon/Shafer and Golden boy nobody wants to fight other promoters fighters how is that good for the sport ?
i thought 2013 was a really good year for boxing, but 2014 not so much. Potentially 2015 might be the best one in a long time.
Potential big match ups:
Manny-Floyd
Cotto-Canelo
Khan-Brook
Ward-GGG
Adonis-Kovalev
Klitschko-Wilder
Froch-Chavez Jr
All are pretty mainstream, but i doubt most these fights get made.
Man if the best fight the best in boxing all the time like they use to, boxing would easly be one of the biggest sports again.
Dont forget Gonzalez vs Estrada 2, Mares vs Santa cruz, Loma vs Walters,walters/loma vs Gonzalez..Kovalev vs Pascal, GGG vs his toughest fight in murray..2015 could be the year in boxing!
It's a longshot, but if Ward-Golovkin gets made later this year then it would truly cement it in the top 3 best years in boxing history.
3 huge fights that are so big they transcend the sport into the public mainstream.
Ward v GGG doesn't transcend the sport, neither does Cotto/Canelo beyond the hispanic or American PPV audience.
In Europe and across the rest of the world, those fights are only big deals for the boxing public but nothing wrong with that. The best years in boxing, imo, shouldn't have to be judged by the casuals, it should be judged on the size of the fights being made.
If Pac/May, Cotto/Canelo, Ward/GGG, Stevenson/Kovalev, Wlad/WBC Champ/Fury, Gonzalez/Inoue, Bradley/Khan, Khan/May/Pac, Brook/Thurman, get made then yes, this could possibly be the best year of boxing that I can remember.
Edit: Never even managed to speak about Donaire, Walters, Crawford and so on, there is so much room to make 2015 a great year.
It's looking like a good first half of the year. Boxing fans deserve it after how horrible 2014 was.
Golovkin/Murray would have been one of the better fights made in 2014. It's an afterthought right now.
As a boxing fan I hope you are right, but it it will be hard to top 2013, but 2015 can be a great year if these fights happen.
1. Mayweather vs Paquiao
2. Cotto vs Canelo
3. Froch vs Chavez Jr
4. Kovalev vs Stevenson
5. Mares vs Gonzalez 2
6. Khan vs Bradley
7. Swift vs Crawford
8. Provodnikov vs Matthysse
9. Klitscko vs Wilder vs Stiverne winner
10. Gonzalez vs Inoue
could be if everything goes right
with the two big possibles
froch v chavez?
there are also lots of fringe possibilities
we could also get a big GGG fight towards the end of the year(winner of cotto v canelo?)
... a big Wlad fight (wilder/stiverne/fury)
Kovalev v Stevenson?
kahn v brook v the winner of may pac later in the year
Don't get your hopes up guys. This year will be just the same as last year, good fighters fighting bums while they avoid the real challenges. The only real mega fight that has a chance of happening is Canelo-Cotto. Manny will move down to 140 to fight Vargas, Floyd will fight Amir Khan and get another boring unanimous decision win. Ward will move up in weight, GGG will continue to fight and predictably knockout journeymen fighters. Accept it folks, this is the Al Haymon age of fighters. Expect more mismatches and hypejobs. Expect Boxing to diminish in popularity until it become even more of a nitch sport like Ping-Pong or Billiards. Expect more Danny Garcia vs Rod Salka mismatches. The sad part is so many fans buy the b.s. and come back for more.

2015 would be a beast year.....Haymon can throw 2gether bum fights for the rest of the year those 3 fights alone would make up for it
For a casual maybe. There are great fights every year, just not all are big names that transcend the sport. There may well be better fights than these this year, and these aren't necessarily the best fights either. Floyd will sweep Manny in a snoozefest if he doesn't stop him late, there are better opponents for Floyd, always have been. And Cotto vs Canelo is a great fight but Cotto is and should be the favorite in that fight, if he doesn't win he has taken a step back.
I am looking for big years from Fury, Bradley, Maidana, Lomachenko, Yaegashi, Rigo, Kovalev, Brook, and Gesta.
Casual fans keep the sport alive and in the spotlight. These fights may turn out not to be good fights, but there can be no doubt that they will be big fights that elevate the sport.
