Jose Santa Cruz: The fight with Rigo won't happen because it's a fight I don't want to see, and if I could evade that fight we wont give it to him. Especially since he is running his mouth, because that's what they keep bothering us with, Leo is now making a Million dollars and to fight Rigo it would be alot more than that. Since the tv broadcasters are not interested in Rigondeaux they wont even pay that much for the fight and for only one million dollars we wont fight him. I don't want to see my son chasing a chicken around the ring.
Jose Santa Cruz, the father of SBW Champion Leo Santa Cruz also said, "It's a ridiculous fight. I have played it over in my head and to me it's a ridiculous fight because Rigondeaux doesn't come to fight, when he feels the opponents punches he runs, hugs, pushes or shoves his rivals. That's a ridiculous fight to me because the public deserves respect and they shouldn't watch a runner in the ring."
Leo Santa Cruz said, "I would like to give the people that fight because I am tired of them telling me that I'm afraid of him. I want that fight to show them that I'm not afraid of anyone or anything and I am here to fight anyone. Hopefully I get that fight soon, I will talk to my promoter so I could try to get it this 2015."
Interesting...

Edited: Leo also said he is interested in fighting against Mares, since that would truly be a war between two aztec warriors. Back on Rigo however, he said his pride has been tested and he is willing to accept the challenge even if it means he would make less money, however his promoter and tv broadcaster have to first agree to it... :lol1:
A clear duck, leo santa cruz loses respect if he lets his father prevail. He keeps this up; mexicans will dmote him from being aztec warrior to aztec ducking.

I hope you read these forums because I want to personally tell you that you and your son are cowards. You, me and everyone else around know why you don't want to fight Rigo. It's because he would beat your son to a pulp. At least be man enough to admit that you don't have enough faith in your own son, your own flesh and blood, to win the fight. We could at least give you credit for being an honest coward. :boxing:
The Haymon virus is very contagious.
Fans should just regard boxing as just a platform to employ boxers.
They need to stop expecting meaningful fights.
I hope Santa Cruz gets KTFO in the 1st round by a journeyman just like Mares.
I'm starting to think these Mexicans fighters don't want to get embarrassed in front of thousands of their compatriots.
please dont compare them. Who did Mares duck? He kept moving up until he ran into a big puncher. And Johnny G is no journeyman.
Leo Santa Duck Mexican Warrior Do just took a prime seat as ducker of the year
I dont give a **** he is making money fighting bums. I care about watching great boxing because like any other sport what i want is to see competition. It's hilarious some boxing fans have become personal accountants as if their ****ty account grows when LSC fights a bum.
Duck Duck Duck. Right where with Quillin and Stevenson. Fake ass Mexican
Rigondeaux's handlers are chickens when it comes to getting the fight they want. They would just rather moan, nag, whine in their safe little quarters, instead of going out there and do something out of the ordinary. They can buy ringside tickets, for example, on Santa Cruz's fights. Then climb up in the ring to challenge him in post fight interviews. They can go to his training camp and make scenes.. etc. In other words, stalk him until the promoters themselves realize that fans would really want to see it.
Things like that will help promote the fight and the truth is they're of tremendous help when drawing fans. Even if the fight turns out to be boring. Bottom line is promoting a fight creatively DOES help.
Yep, you gotta do it if nobody wants you.
Make them look bad for avoiding you.
He one of them mexican warriors doe. Chavez would smack both their asses, the dad for using the accounting excuse (they should really sync their excuses the dad sings one the son sings another one), and the son too but probably for naming his kid after Al haymon.
:lol1: @ the tags to my own thread. It won't change the fact that Leo is hiding behind his father while constantly throwing out the big names just to get a buzz. Stay hurting :)
Espinoza has already said he would air Rigondeaux fights so it's just up to promoters and Leo'so team.
I wish the interviewer asked what an acceptable amount would be. if $1 million is not enough, what is?
What is enough? $10 million. Sound ridiculous? Asking for too much money is the most common way for a fighter to avoid a fighter he is afraid to fight. Shane Mosley's father asked for $10 million to fight Floyd Mayweather at 135. At the time, Mosley had never made more than $500,000 in a fight in his entire 30-fight career. Santa Cruz's father knows what he is doing.

750K for a fight vs his former sparring partner? That's truly sickening. To think people called Mikey Garcia a ducker for not wanting to fight Gamboa for 800K...
Not that I have a problem with LSC doing well financially but what the heck...
Mikey Garcia doesn't have Al Haymon as his advisor. If Santa Cruz had anyone else as his manager other than Haymon, he would have been lucky to have gotten $300,000 for his last fight. If Santa Cruz can get $700 to $800,000 fighting sparring partners in a division where fighters rarely take home more than $300,000 for a fight, why would he risk a loss against Rigondeaux for any amount of money?
Are these guys sure there mexican? Take a lesson from nelo who fought lara.
Lara at least did something, finally. Made himself look like a fool demanding the fight right in front of Canelo's face. Team Rigo is too bashful to do that.

He played over in his head his son getting whooped:rofl:
Rigondeaux really sits down on his punches and if he just 'ran like a chicken' he wouldn't be anywhere near as effective as he is.
What's in it for Showtime by letting Rigo come in and knock off their fighter and bouncing? The real question is will Showtime want to sign Rigo to a multi fight TV deal. That's the only way I see Rigo getting the fight.
What contributions has Santa Cruz made to ShowTime so far? His CBS fight flopped so bad they haven't even tried to show another boxing event again. He hasn't headlined a fight, he hasn't done anything crazy with ratings, he hasn't fought anyone.
He is an undercard filler who takes a chunk out of their budget fighting bums. They are losing money on him right now and will continue to do so until he beats somebody.
