I don't usually match fighters up with guys from a weight class above, but Brook is very big at 147 and doesn't have an easy time making weight, I'm sure we'll see him at 154 sooner or later.
How do lot see him doing against Canelo? His footwork is nowhere near as good as Lara's, he might have a better jab and better pop, but that's at 147 so we don't know how it will carry up.
I'd lean towards Canelo because of the natural size advantage and I feel he's more versatile, he's got an inside game unlike Brook. Also, although I feel he lost the fight (only just), I think he proved against Lara that he's adapting and learning how to deal better with boxers.
I think Canelo would take it through size and strength. I don't think Canelo is that much of a better puncher than Brook, Brook is very skilled, and also a bit quicker to my eye (Canelo can look a bit cumbersome) but Canelo is much stronger, a heavier handed fighter.
I can't wait to see Canelo Cotto, that will answer a lot of questions for me.
i think Canelo will top p4p lists in a couple of years.
Yeah man, people keep crapping on him for whatever reason (however, diminishing with each fight) but the dude is without a doubt, one of the most talented boxers out there. He is young but extremely talented and I can't see too many boxers beating this guy. You have to be an excellent mover to even stand a chance to begin with. As bad as Cotto is, he doesn't move around enough to minimize Canelo's strengths, so I think he could hurt Cotto and beat him, especially to the body.
People are gonna see, the dude is only going to get better and as you said, he will be a top 1-3 p4p guy no doubt, easily. :boxing:
Canelo would beat him.. Much better puncher, and I can see canelo doing all that over-the-top head movement he showed in the trout fight..
Brooks skill set won't bother canelo that much as he has already seen forms of it vs trout, Lara, and floyd..
Canelo is too big and too strong for Brook imo.
totally agree, not even fair for brook, if it ever gets signed people will be calling this a cherry pick...
I feel that Brook is good enough to give him some issues but Cenelo would ultimately wreck him against the ropes with body work and drop him en route to a UD victory. The more Canelo fights, the stronger he gets and I think he is strong enough to do damage to Brook.

Brook barely scraped through with porter in a fight which could have easily gone the other way.
Lol, Porter didn't have won decisive round the whole fight.
I guess people on here are still a bit sore how brook ripped the title off their champion in his own backyard, was pretty embarrassing considering all the smack porter talked before the fight.
The truth is brook is a special fighter. Canelo knows how to lose where as brook doesn't. Every time he's been questioned he's stepped up and won.

He needs a dominant display against top opposition before he can be considered as a top welterweight.
Even his promoter knows his belt can go at anytime very soon and that's why he want to cash out on a lucrative Khan fight.
Come on man, why do you guys always have to ruin what would otherwise be a sensible, well thought post? 'Barely scraped through vs Porter', tha fck you talking about? Make it sound like some life and death battle. Did you watch it? Was like watching a man fight a boy.
I gained more respect for Brook with the Porter fight. For whatever reason, Brook was always pulling out of Big fights. I was turned off after he pulled out of the Devon Alexander fight in 2013.
I take Canelo by 11th rd TKO. Brook isn't feather fisted, but I don't see him bothering Canelo. Canelo will out muscle him if Brook tried to maul, & wear him down with body shots. The Shawn Porter fight is a little misleading for some fans though, because outside of that fight he wasn't much of a mauler. Canelo is just too much, in my opinion.
I don't it happens because I don't see Brook going to 154, & Canelo may be in route to 160 soon. 154 looks like a struggle for Canelo
How much does Brook cherish his teeth? Because he'd be picking them up off the canvas after the fight.
Canelo kills him, in anything less than Brook running ala Lara.
Brook is quick and skillful and has shown resilience but he hasn't fought at the highest level at 147, let alone being successful in a fantasy fight at 154 against a proven champion.
Having said that, if brook continues to improves and manages to sit down more on his power as he did earlier in his career then he could genuinely give Canelo hell. Brook is indeed big at the weight and would fit 154 perfectly imo and Canelo isn't a devastating puncher, he took his time against guys like Matty Hatton and the other light welters he feasted on. Brook is far more accurate with his punches than all those guys, if Canelo tries to out hustle Brook, he'll find that out.
Not to mention Brook has the superior hand and foot speed. Canelo's size will start to tell imo and he'll win down the stretch but it's not a foregone conclusion.
