What's the fascination with JCC Jr?

I don't get it. Why are boxing fans so interested to see these so called "superstars" like Chavez, Canelo etc fight so much. I can understand casuals that no nothing about the sport watch, but why are fans calling to see Froch fight Chavez. This guy is so average. Canelo has worked his way into relevance but since Jr had a brief, solid run at MW 2-3 years ago, he hasn't done anything and all of a sudden he gets a shot at one of the premier fighters on the planet. I understand why froch wants him, he brings money and a large fan base but in reality I'd rather see Froch v DeGale/GGG/Kovalev/Hopkins/Stevenson/Groves 3/Bika/Anthony D...just about anyone more worthy tbh

Because THEY FIGHT like real men. Not run around like cowards AKA what purists call boxers. I will never respect a man who enters a fighting ring to retreat like a poosy. Chavez comes to fight and get hit like a man to land his own shots, that's a FIGHT. I will always respect a fighter who fights like a man, it's all about honor and pride. Jr's draw has nothing to do with JR. Chavez Senior is a god in Mexico and when Jr popped up on the scene he had immediate support from his father's fans who wanted to perpetuate Chavez Senior's second coming through Jr and Arum quickly recognized the opportunity to exploit it. Jr was selling 6 round PPV's against nobodies pretty much from the start in Mexico. He is not really taken to seriously outside of Mexico except with maybe a small group of Mexician Americans.

Chavez is a bonafied world class fighter any one who days otherwise is a fool. The kid when in the right head could seriously bang with anyone even the cobra. He's a proven winner and an attraction his name helped get exposure like canelos hair helped him. Its like saying ggg isnt a world class fighter. Both their resumes speak for themselves

JCC Jr is your "average Jose" who so happens to be the son of a boxing great and thus inherited his fathers chin. Aside from that his hilarious pothead antics and clear display of laziness and careless attitude wins many of us over.

I have no problem with the Chavez-Froch fight.Hell, I paid for far worst on some of those Chavez & Fury PPVs... I actually think this fight will be very entertaining while it last.

He is far from being great like his father... His has very little disciple and a lack of respect for the sport he competes in. Personally I think he "had" potential but has squandered those skills. I have no problem with him smoking pot, in fact I think it is ridiculous for any organization to disciple an individual for smoking something as harmless as pot. It doesn't give you any advancement in cutting weight or building muscle or help with cardio. What annoys me, is his lack of respect for the sport that made him and his father. Also, hus fans are annoying as sh** and just as bad as the extreme Pacquiao/Mayweather fans.

We all know that this is Froch's "dream fight" for his retirement party and that JCCJr showed little if any interest regarding the sport, lately.

His name does play a role, but that's not the only reason. The kid goes out and makes good fights. He entertains and in the end that's what professional boxing is, entertaining. It's why people are glamoring for a Froch/Chavez fight and not a Chavez/Ward fight.

It's very disappointing that mexicans support this doping fraud just because he is the son of a mexican star. Ricans support Cotto and say unreasonable things about him, but at least Cotto is legit. Blacks support Floyd even though he is a terrible, repulsive human...but at least he has superb ability. By all means, I understand Mexicans supporting great fighters like JMM, Canelo, Oscar, and Chavez Sr; those are admirable champions. Bob Arum proved he is a genius again by manufacturing Junior into a draw through careful matchmaking and promotion. Junior responded by taking his millions and stabbing Top Rank in the back.

No other reason than both guys come looking to fight and are not afraid to go for the KO. The opposing camps have lots of noisy and enthusiastic fans. Should be fun. Unless one has become such a boxing hipster that one no longer appreciates a good brawl...

Chavez Jr is the king of tv ratings but he hasn't sold any tickets in his last 2 fights. Golovkin proved he is a much bigger draw on the west coast than chavez is. The mexican fans tune in but seem kind of ashamed of Chavez jr.

I think Froch-Chavez would be an entertaining fight and a cool event to watch but I have never rated Chavez as a boxer. He is a huge draw though. I think there are better fights boxing-wise for Froch (GGG, Ward, DeGale even) but you have to be able to understand why he's targeting Chavez otherwise you're just being naive.

Carl Froch is a legit top level fighter and Chavez is the opposite. Doesn't help Julio acts like a spoiled brat to his fans, trainer, and father, but he's also cheated against his opponents. His chin is overrated due to his weight advantage and I'm still not sure where the myth of him being a power puncher came from outside of the Lawrence Cole stoppages on Lee & Manfredo.
