Meanwhile, Arum has revealed that Pacquiao's landslide 12 round decision in the headliner in Macau against the American Chris Algieri – 119-103, 119-103, 120-102 – draw a massive viewing audience from mainland China.
"It was a huge success. Forty-eight million homes watched it," Arum said. "That's effectively over half the population of the UK. Boxing is becoming a major sport in China. I want to build the audience as much as possible before we even think about pay-per-view."

Damn, imagine if they charged like $5 for each of those views. That's an easy $240 million in revenue :omfg:
This just proves that Floyd would be a multi-billionaire if he were Chinese
If he were Chinese boxing will never become popular there. If Roy Jones finds Mayweather boring what makes you think the Chinese will find him exciting to watch? :boxing:
you may have mixed it up a bit.
correct me if i am wrong, cash cow means one who generates steady profit for other not for himself. i.e. cow produces milk for the farmer not for the cow.
to make it a bit clearer.
Pac is a cash cow for his opponents because they get more fighting Pac than everyone else i.e. Maidana fighting Floyd gets 1.5 Rios fighting Pac gets 4 million (these fgures are based on what poster here says)
Floyd is a cash cow for network because he generates more steady profit than everyone else.
I've been Red K'd by imdazed for this post?
CLASSIC :headbang:
Wow, Pac Vs Algeri did 50 million PPV homes??
Does this mean that Pacquiao is the new PPV king?
Hardly, base on the thread title Pac vs Algieri watch by 48 million chinese homes.
it did not say "did 50 million PPV homes"
I think reading is not your strong suit much more comprehension. but you are good at your boxing history.
Being good at boxing history does not equate to smartness and you epitomizes that notion
.....................
There was a news article in China with bold 48 million written on it. but the rest is written on chinese character so who knows what that means. it probably means Floyd guaranteed purse who knows LOL
I was in Hong Kong and Shenzhen during one of the Macau fightcard weekends and if it werent for my boxing addiction I would have no idea that card was going on. I asked around but all I got were confused faces, ended up giving up and going to the night market :lol1:
Did you ask them in Mandarin or in Cantonese if not, you sure were gonna get confused faces
ThePrince, you seem to come out of the woodwork to talk about Pacquiao numbers.
If that guy isn't in PR, he should be. He can polish turds like nobody's business.
Watch Floyd try to fight on Chinese New Year, wearing their flag on his shorts, coming out with those big ass dragons when you see at the parades, and come in with an Chinese Themed song, "Ping Ping Ping Pong Pong Pong Ping Pong Ping" as his fans chant "TBE, TBE"
Don't you dare take that chinese new year date away from Floyd.
I won't be surprised if I see Showtime cards held in that part of the world one of these days. It's most likely the main reason why the CBS boss met with Arum in Macau just recently.
Arum is making a killing down there.
The numbers are big. Official figures quoted at the recent 21st annual China Content and Broadcasting Network (CCBN) conference indicate that China has 400 million TV households, of which 210 million subscribe to cable TV (CATV). Of these cable subscribers, 140 million receive digital service while the rest are still on analog systems.
The number of TV households in the United States 2010-2011 was estimated to be about 115.9 million.
I looked up some figures if anyone cares.
But since when a cash cow is decided on how much the opponent earned? I always thought cash cow would be the guy who makes the most money...when Maywetaher is on Forbes No.1 every year making the most money and Manny is @ #12 or something making half of that what Floyd makes how he can be the cash cow?

Last year's Super Bowl, if the Nielsen estimates are accurate, was watched by over 110 million people.
How many people honestly have paid for NFL Network?
I think he means people pay for NFL Sunday Ticket or RedZone probably, because NFL Network has been pretty basic for awhile. I wish we had BoxNation, basically an NFL Sunday Ticket for boxing.
