Boxer Amir Khan will donate a £30,000 pair of shorts to help rebuild the Peshawar army school where 141 children and staff were killed by the Taliban.
The Briton, who is of Pakistani origin, wore the shorts, which has a waistband made from 24-carat gold threading, in his points win against Devon Alexander.
"It was just very sad to see innocent kids being killed," said Khan, 28.
"I want to donate the shorts for the Peshawar cause, rebuild a school and strengthen security around the area."
Khan, who successfully defended his WBC Silver welterweight title in Las Vegas on Saturday, became a father in May when his daughter Lamysa was born.
"I can only imagine what those parents are going through," he told BBC Radio 5 live.
"We are very lucky in England, we have good security and I will be able to send my little girl to school and know she will be fine, but in Pakistan you cannot do that.
"They send the kids outside the house and do not know if they are going to come back. It's very sad to know that."

I volunteer five times a week to help under privileged but I never use it as a publicity item. Khan is worth millions. A true gesture would be quietly giving donations as many done without involving the press. The cause here is good but it should not be a image builder.
Well if you truely did then you would know that telling the media raises awareness and may help to inspire other people to donate. Media is vital for charity donations. Sure it looks good on Khans image but a lot more people will now be inspired to donate especially Khan fans and overall its a good thing. Stop thinking about the negatives and think about the positives.
Now that you've put it this way it makes sense and I agree. I honestly thought you were making a mockery of the event in specific cuz it seemed that way. I take back my words.
Big man for doing that!

thank you, sir.
making a mockery? maybe you need to get your head out of your ass and see it for what it is. those zealot foks would salivate to cause more destruction and chaos at the prospect of a prize fight.
don't ANY of you POS foks try to put words in my mouth. what happened in peshawar was fubar and i wouldn't dare to even think of making any off-color joke about that tradegy but if you 3 bastions of pink think a fight should be held there, you're insanely stupid. like a 67 IQ type stupid.

Wow making a mockery of mass death and distraction.
Only a scum would do that!

the whole point of celebs giving to charity is to bring more awareness to the charity
they use their star power to help and trust me charities appreciate this
also in regards to the shorts khan was adamant he'd give them away to a charity, so now we know what he did with them, so he doesnt have to answer the question about "whatever happened to those shorts"
this guy does a lot for charity, has his own foundation, he's right to advertise his charity.
he should demand Mayweather fight him in Pakistan. Imagine how much death that would bring to the area, helping so many people. :headbang:
Fixed it for you.
what have you ever donated to charity?? Khan might talk rubish but he has always given to charity

Not only that the fighters at Gallaghers gym used to bad mouth him before that. He could have been a dyck and said no fook off.
People hate this guy for other than his boxing career and sensible people know what it is.
Sound familiar????
He donated a pair of shorts? wow!
His publicity manager says they are worth 30k? Bet they couldn't get 200 for them. What a weak publicity stunt after the tragedy they suffered.

He let Gallagher and his lads use his gym. I'm not sure if it's for $ or not, but Khan stepped up to help because he wanted to, so a noble gesture regardless.
Taken so many kids off the streets with his boxing gym in Bolton.
I can go on and on.
