There may be some cubans that can improve under a pro trainer. Add some excitement to their styles. This is gonna make Miami a huge hotbed for boxing fights.
DOnt get excited just yet that island is famous for time going 1000 times slower than in the rest of the world. If the flood gates opened tho oh lord baseball and boxing will be a lot more Cuban than even now after all that's the national pastime baseball then boxing, but baseball first with boxing a close second. The ams stars ain't even the guys that would shine in the pro games so many unknown fighters that get cut from olympic teams just for not being fast enough at pity patting boxing will get a much needed adrenaline injection.
Tbh gamboa kind of slipped too. I mean he was driving fancy cars before he had even 10 pro fights. And his blowing up to lightweight kind of showed a slight decline. I think the crawford loss will kick him back into shape though
I think the Crawford loss ruined him.
this is hilarious, but i think it's a great point. you've got guys like gamboa and rigo, and then you got guys like solis.

I love watching Ridondeaux fight, the skills he posses are admirable. Its boxing at the end of the day, hit and don't get hit - he represents that greatly. More people should look up to him if anything IMO, strive to become well schooled at what they do.
^^^^^^this
People need to also take into account that the AIBA changed the rules on scoring, its scored round by round now instead of electronic point scoring, so you'll see the styles gradually change over the years and be more suited to the pro style. This will be something you see in Cubans especially.
hopefully they all dont fight like rigondeaux.
come to america.
leave your amateur boxing style behind.

I watched Robeisy Ramirez in the 2012 Olympics and was in awe of the skills he showed us when winning gold, at the age of 18 too, so if Cubans were allowed to leave and turn pro then he would definitely be the guy I would follow most.
If this is true then you would see the pro ranks change drastically.
Coming to America could be a bad thing, we've got so many fast food restaurants, clubs, beautiful women, etc. anything you want. You can live a very nice lifestyle, that will be the biggest challenge, resisting all the things the US has to offer, getting fat and lazy.

Like solis eating himself out of his chances, see that happening too.

I love how some people are generalising all Cuban boxers based on Lara's performance against canelo. By that logic let's base all american fighters on Floyd's performance against maidana of Ukrainians against Klitschko's performance against povetkin.
A lot of Cubans are actually exciting fighters. If you bothered to watch footage you would see that. Hell gamboa's exciting too and he was a product of the same amateur system you are badmouthing.

Hopefully some more will come over, with the few already in pro boxing, there are more champions that countries with thousands of pro boxers.
The majority will fail-but at least try-, some will be decent and a few may get to be champs, so it's life, there will be fans and haters, so it's life too.
