Such a lopsided purse split shouldn't be allowed. There ought to be a rule that the challenger gets at least 10% of what the champion gets. I remember when Oscar used to get maybe 5 million for a fight and his challenger would get maybe 100 thousand. This is even worse. Paying Chavez only 35 thousand is disgraceful. Totally agree. Even Rod Salka got payed much more than that. I think a rule like that might help dicourage mismatches, or taking advantage of broke, short notice, working fighters who are used as opponents.
