herrera isn't that good. he's good at being competitive against guys like provno***ov, dallas jr, alvarado, and mayfield but he lost all those fights legit. the only close fight he probably deserved to win was garcia.
:lol1: beat me to it.
I think JR might be in over his head. I can see him doing well at the start but once Herrera gets inside that jab I can see JR losing confidence.
If hererra finds his way in under the jab he'll catch a right uppercut...his best chance is to keep this a boxing match and use some veteran tactics like hitting and holding, but then again thats not a guarentee cause benevidez has skills as well...he wont beat benevidez if a war breaks out.. damn this is actually a really fascinating fight!
Herrera doesn't make fights easy on himself, but Benavidez hasn't shown that he's ready to step up.
I can understand your skepticism, but i feel this is his coming out party...nonetheless it should be a good fight.
I dont think its totally out of the realm of reality, he has good intangibles and a long reach which makes it a good fascinating fight...i wouldnt count him out, thats for sure. I honestly think hererra is going to have a hard time in there win, lose, or draw....

By robbery lol.
But yeah as far actually beating Herrera, I don't see it. Benavidez is the type of fighters that Herrera knows how to control.

Is he still trained by Freddie Roach?
He looks really skinny at 140, at 5'11" maybe he should be fighting at 147.
Well they can't all be built like Fury haha. Actually in his last fight he was at 145 and the one prior at 150, but those guys weren't big fighters, they just weighed like so. I think Benavidez should be fine at 140 (as long as he makes it easy obviously), I'm sure his growing body could fill out 147 in coming years. It will be curious to see what he rehydrates to.
And no, he and Roach split some number of fights ago, but they still show mutual respect to one another.
The most intriguing fight for me of a loaded, loaded weekend of fights. I think jose needs to use his reach, his body is extremely lenghty for that division. jab,jab ,jab . All those gym wars and years of being around the best is gonna play big dividends on Saturday night.
Benavidez hasn't faced top opposition, but that's the way it is for every young fighter on the come up. I think the time was right for a step up, but perhaps straight to the top will prove too fast on Top Rank's part.
It's hard to gauge with some of his comp but he's looked real sharp at times. Solid D, fast hands and he sets up his right hand pretty well. I think his ring iq is a bit underrated and I expect a competitive (to a decision) fight whether Jose's resume reflects it or not. I can't predict a winner, but by no means would I be surprised if Benavidez wins, only if one or the other dominates.
My man! 10 trill it is. I got Herrera :boxing:
Good Luck, this is a looooong shot for Benavidez. Maybe he'll pull off an Ali like you said. We shall see!
We'll see dawgie! Good Luck :boxing:
Haha, I'm not overrating the lineal champ at 140 at all.
Bet's on. Good Luck :boxing:
Lineal?:lol1: you know what, i'll be the darkhorse lets up the ante to lets say 10 trilli . I'll take a shot on benavidez by decision.
Yea I think you're way off. Want to make a bet?
Not that Benavidez wins (we all know he's going to lose) but a bet that Benavidez gets knocked out or TKO'd?
If he survives all 12 rounds you win. What do you say? 2 trillion? :boxing:
Wow!! Bro , your highly overating hererra here, i'll take that bet..the light punching hererra will NOT ko benevidez bro in any fashion...
Stupid move by Team Benavidez.
Why would they throw him in with the lineal champ at 140?
He's never fought anybody in the top 50 for fuks sake :pat:
I give him props all the black American fight tomato can until they get a title fight just take a look at Wilder he's been fighting bums since 2008 that's 6 years take a look at Pernel Whitaker Meldrick Talor Sugar Ray there were champs in 3 years
Johan Perez jab was causing Herrera problems early but then Herrera adjusted and won
Theres a difference of boxing skills between the 2 doe.....this is a tougher fight then the johan perez fight.. thats very clear to me.
Benavidez is a great prospect no doubt but his team should have gotten him a fight against somebody in the top 50 before throwing him in with Herrera.
A humiliating loss like this can be detrimental to a young up and coming prospects career.
Hererra is not a power puncher so i feel they could afford the risk...the worst thing that can happen besides a (freak accident) is he gets outboxed he learns and comes back stronger... career suicide would have been to put him in with mathysse..
But in all honesty hererra is more then beatable, and if he cant get past that reach hes gonna have problems from the bigger benevidez... i wouldnt be surprised at all if this is his breaking out party!! Ali proved everyone wrong except for me anyways:lol1: benevidez is certainly capable of doing the same..
I dont think its totally out of the realm of reality, he has good intangibles and a long reach which makes it a good fascinating fight...i wouldnt count him out, thats for sure. I honestly think hererra is going to have a hard time in there win, lose, or draw....
People who have Benavidez winning this fight, tell me how.
I don't have Benavidez winning but wouldn't be surprise if he did win the guy is very big for the weight 5-11 and has a 73 inch reach and fights tall
