With the Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight about to come to fruition, you can't help but recognize the brilliance of Bob Arum. What he has done in recent years may solidify him as the greatest promoter in the history of the sport. Bob Arum receives a lot of unnecessary hate from both fight fans and even fighters.
It's easy to hate on Arum, but it's obvious that Bob is the epitome of what a great boxing promoter is. What this guy has done for a B- fighter like Pacquiao's career is phenomenal. Look at how many 'p*ctards' this guy has created. Look at how long, how many years he has been able to stall the Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight, then look at the hundreds of millions of dollars that have resulted from it in the process of doing so. This wasn't by accident. Bob invented piggybacking off fighters names. Bob creates hype trains. Bob created more p*ctards than anyone can count.
People said was Pacquiao's a moron for continuously re-signing to Top Rank, they should have been saying he's smart as f*ck for doing so. We can all name at least 15-20 fighters at 147 who would make Manny look like the B- level fighter that he's always been, and now Pacquiao is about to make at least 60-80 million dollars for one fight... a B- level fighter getting 80 million dollars. All you can do is respect Bob Arum's skills, we don't see Al Haymon taking B level fighters to 80 million dollar payday's.
Has any other promoter in the history of the sport pulled off a feat comparable to what Arum has done since 2008 with Manny Pacquiao?
Once it was Don King and Arum as the two power houses. Arum outlasted King and stood up to Golden Boy and the new promoters. At 129 years old he is still going strong.
he's certainly better and more legitimate than that dope dealer al haymon.
al haymon is not a promoter as much as his detractors talk about him like he is
Bob Arum is a living legend and great for boxing :hail:
i dont know about all that not sure how someone who was just as much to blame as anyone for the fight of our times not counting ali stuff not being made. the only thing i agree with the troll thread maker is that arum purposely avoided the mayweather fight knowing he could piggy back off mayweather and get the boxing world on his side make bunch money then make the fight anyway towards the end. if thats good for boxing then maybe boxing is not the sport i thought it was. But the whole b- fighter thing get a life bro even if u think mayweather is better which i do manny is still a great fighter and an A fighter for our era no question
Their is no denying that Arum has been the top promoter for many years.
The guy is a smart guy, knows how to build stars, and more importantly has the right people working for him.
The only guy I would say came close to him in the last 10 years was Schaffer, but he got too greedy and ended up fvcking up.
Bob Arum has a boss.
The greatest promoter is Floyd Money Mayweather. He is his own boss.
So who is Bob Arum's boss? Always anxious to acquire inside boxing knowledge.
Yes he is the best promoter in my opinion. He is well past 80 years old and still doing a great job. He is far from perfect but who is? I don't think he has made the Pac-May fight happen. Nobody can do that. I hope I am wrong but as long as Mayweather wants to treat Pacquiao like a piece of sh*t and keep damn near all the money for himself this fight will NEVER HAPPEN.
I wrote off Arum last year but since then he has found a couple future stars with Lomacheknko, Verdejo, and Crawford. He knows his sh1t and he has good boxing people working for him
I think people don't understand how hard it is to be a promoter. Most of them fizzle out or never get really big.
Bob Arum is the GOAT promoter and has been doing it for longer than most people on here have been alive. And with guys like Pacquiao, Zou Shiming, Lomachenko, etc hes still going strong
How do you rate a boxing promoter? On how much he makes for his fighter? On the quality of his stable? Or how rich he is? It should be based on the quality of the fights that he puts on. Which promoter in the last 10 years give you the best matchups that are out there? NONE! So Don King is probably the greatest! He rips off everybody but he did give the fans the fights they craved!
Don king even doe he is a wasteman but the dude had stacked cards in his best days
yup. As much as he was a scumbag, he put on some great fights over the years. a very high number of big fights were Don King's from mid 70s to late 90s.
Mayweather Promotions
Bob Arum has a boss.
The greatest promoter is Floyd Money Mayweather. He is his own boss.
Wow, greatest promoter? Where are Floyd Money Mayweather's fighters? How much did Mickey Bey make in his last fight, or any other Mayweather Promotions fighter? I guess you think more than 80 million? How about 10 million? How about 1 million? What about even 500k?
Bob Arum has made more money off of Floyd Mayweather's name than Floyd has himself over the years, cumulatively with numerous fighters, not just Pacquiao.
