Wow, horrible, #Pacquiao PPV reputedly did just over 300,000 buys & its the lowest #Manny #PPV figure since becoming a super star. #boxing
Horrible numbers if you ask me, considering Pac is the 2nd biggest Boxing PPV attraction out there. Even Canelo coming off a loss to Mayweather did like 350k against gatekeeper like Angulo.
That makes 40M plus 35% Upside offer look like a Generous one.
EDIT: Here's another source http://www.fighthype.com/news/article18673.html
Remember when posters used to say that Arum would never let Pac fight Floyd until he had milked Manny for all he was worth?
Those posters appear to have been right.
We're seeing Pacquiao's earnings dwindle and only now is Top Rank finally making an all out push to get Mayweather.
Manny brought in forensic accountants and his "advisors" had him fire them. If that wasn't enough of a wakeup call, nothing will be.

Is anyone shocked?...
It was an uninteresting fight vs a guy with virtually no name recognition
Manny and Floyd both have run out of marquee opponents..
They have already fought
Oscar
Cotto
Hatton
Shane
Marquez
Those were the money guys,,, guys capable of headlining PPVs without floyd or manny
Now your stuck with guys that would never headline a PPv wothout Floyd or manny.. ie Ortiz, algieri, rios, Bradley, ghost... Good fighters but not major draws
In the neighborhood of 300K is what I was thinking back when they announced the fight. The Rios fight did pretty poor and no way was this going to even match that. At least in the Rios fight you had the intrigue about how Manny was going to respond to the brutal knockout, and on top of that you had a villain personality in Rios.
This fight was trashed from day one (and rightfully so)...no way it was going to do well with a full price PPV price tag.
It should have been a half price PPV, or even better yet, just a regular HBO subscription fight.
I guarantee you Arum did not expect this to do well and that having the fight in Macau in some way recuperated those losses for him.
Bob Arum doesn't expect good numbers from Pacquiao/Algieri. He's smarter than that.
Instead of paying over 50% in tax revenues by fighting in the US, and paying a killing to market the fight, you can get Chinese subsidies in Macau.
Pac makes money from a bunch of places, especially Asia.
Yes he did BUT "Manny never claimed to be the greatest fighter to ever lace up gloves", either. Did he? Floyd's arrogance makes one point out small details like that. It underlines his insecurity as a fighter and man. That's why I pointed that out. It is standard practice ONLY if you do not claim to be the greatest ever. If you really believe you're the greatest, why do you need one?
its not like robberies don't happen in boxing
Exactly.....
Either way. We are preparing for the fall of Floyd Mayweather. His world started crumbling down after his first fight with MM. He was embarrassed by a B Level fighter. Then in the rematch, he got his tooth knocked clean out of his mouth. Smh. Then he hired Alex Ariza, a Pacman left over, AND Angel H!! What the "F"!? Hahahaha!

Awful logic
People need to stop it with the nonsense about Arum. Floyd is a BULLY but it's certain people in the business you do not bully; Bob Arum is one of those people. Manny Pacquiao is the other one. He will not be able to pick Manny's gloves or any of that BS he pulled with MM.
THIS is why Floyd wants Arum to step aside soooooo badly!
He knows Arum would never let him get away with:
1.) Dictating the gloves PAC wears.
2.) Ripping off PAC as much as possible(who is also A-side).
3.) Having as many advantages as possible for the fight(ring size, choice of ref, judges/location/venue, etc.)
yes he did...........

LoL....
LoL. I am as frustrated as you are, but as a fanatic of boxing, I watch. PERIOD. Anyway, don't worry about him fighting Vargas next. IT WON'T HAPPEN. They'll make a push for Garcia, if Floyd continues to run. But, Floyd most likely will sign, after a lot more demands. He already has asked for a "rematch clause". If you're TBE, what are you worried about? ESPECIALLY in Vegas!! Floyd owns Vegas.
Sure was and I enjoyed it! Manny humbled yet another ****y, undefeated fighter. It's not Manny's fault. He'll fight anyone. He does his job every time out. Arum is doing what he can to secure the Floyd fight. People need to stop it with the nonsense about Arum. Then he can go back to China against Vargas.
I bought Algeri and regretted it the moment i pushed OK and I was right. But wont buy Vargas

People don't realize, the Venetian in Macau pay TR so much money to have Pacquiao there that his PPV buyrate is not relevant. That's why they didn't care about the opponent. For them to lose money on these shows the buyrate would have to be like a 100K show. A 300k or 400K show is a financial success when they hold it over there because the casino is paying them way more than any American venue would ever consider for an opponent like Algieri.
When you look at the big picture and how much money this fight would generate, it's not a good deal based on total revenue. Also for Floyd, he would not make nowhere near as much vs anyone else not named Pacquiao. this is easily a $200million dollar fight. Its being reported that Floyd has been offered $110mil while Pacquiao is being offered $80mil. Now those #'s are more realistic given the magnitude of this fight.
Now with Pac being offered $80mil do you still think $40mil was a good deal? I can tell you right now that Floyd will cry and moan about how much Pacquiao is making and demand more. This is where the fight will hit a snag.
-It's $40m plus an upside on the PPV, not just $40m; If the fight were to do $500m in PPV revenue, Mayweather/Pacquiao would get their guarantees (~$40m each) and Pacquiao would walk away with an additional $60m off of the upside.
Beyond that, the $110m being offered to Floyd has been thrown about without any reference to the upside on the PPV. Floyd gets $110m, Pacquiao gets $80m, and even if the fight "only" does $500m on PPV, that's still ~$60m unaccounted for, plus whatever other money that would be coming in through the sale of the broadcast rights around the world.
Add up all the TV rights and you're looking at $75m still to be spoken for. Floyd's not going to stand for Top Rank walking away with that, especially after the fallout ($8m and a penny to fight Baldomir, after Arum talked of Mayweather never earning an $8m purse anywhere else, kinda set the tone).
Floyd can fight without the hassle of ever working with Bob Arum, and still take home $40m a fight (with vs Cotto 2 and Alvarez 2 still being massive potential fights for him), to add onto the $200m that he's already got , and be just fine
