In my opinion he should be a clear cut favourite to win the FOTY award.
He's beaten 3 really good fighters this year, and has added the Ring Lightweight title to his name in his last fight.
What is your vote, fighter of the year? If not him, who?
Algieri is better than Burns and Beltran.
Beltran doesn't hold a better win than Provodnikov, Algieri would probably school Beltran If that fight could ever have been made.
In what world?
Not in this one, that's for sure.
Algieri is better than Burns and Beltran.

Good point. Algieri is easily better than Burns and he probably schools Beltran as well, since Ray has sparring partner syndrome like Provodnikov and doesn't possess Ruslan's power.
Crawford gets extra points for traveling to beat the weak Burns? Kovalev did that last year when he destroyed Cleverly.
Gennady Golovokin, people are forgetting that he is absolutely blasting through his opposition
Other pick would be Roman Gonzalez or Crawford, leaning more towards Gonzalez
Burns at that stage wasn't a good champion though. He clearly lost to Beltran, he was getting his ass beat by Gonzalez until he quit with a broken hand and then he lost his next fight to Zlaticanin.
Beltran is a decent win, Gamboa is a solid win even with the size difference, but Bradley is a better win than all of them and Algieri is better than Burns. Hopkins is also a better individual win.

in what universe is kovalev even an option?
he beat hopkins, thats a good win. i cant call it a great win considering hopkins' age and the fact that he hasnt beaten a good fighter or even looked good since his last loss in 2011. but even if we ignore that its still just one fight. agnew and caparello dont mean much, their best wins are yusuf mack and allan green respectively. let that sink in for a second.
i dont see how that compares let alone rivals going to scotland and beat the hell out of a good champion, KO a multi division titleholder and take his 0 and then polish it off by beating the hell out of the second ranked fighter in the division earning the lineal title.
then theres roman gonzalez, knocking out four quality fighters. hell, i would put walters ahead of kovalev having knocked out donaire and darchiniyan. knocking out donaire was way more impressive than beating hopkins and darchiniyan even at this stage is a better win than caparello and agnew combined. you cant even talk about vics age if you want to give kovalev a bunch of credit for beating hopkins anyways.
pacquiao had a better year too, algieri isnt much of a win but bradley is.
kovalevs time will come, but this year he wasnt fighter of the year. not even close. for me its crawford or gonzalez, either one is a good choice.

That he's been dominant against good opposition.
I wouldn't stretch the envelope and call Burns or Beltran good...
I said the same thing before the Beltran fight happened yet people were trying to sell it saying Beltran is a dangerous guy who came on better later in his career.
Take a look at the fights Burns had before Crawford then the fights after Crawford it says it all about him, perhaps lucky or perhaps the broken jaw finished him once and for all like it finished Ortiz.
He has one good win in this year against a guy who wasn't big enough for 135lbs and with one year of inactivity.
Kovalev or Pacquiao for me.
The manner of the Hopkins win is extremely impressive. Manny has a very good win over Bradley and I regard Algieri more than Burns and Beltran.
Would have no issue with Golovkin or Crawford getting it, but Kovalev and Pacquiao have better wins.
I think his three best wins are massively overrated...
Ricky Burns someone who was constantly under huge scrutiny but because he went to Scotland it makes it any more of a big deal?
Raymundo Beltran a journeyman at best who was clearly lacking in every department when he fought TC, there's more to boxing than looking in shape.
Those two are C- fighters or C at the highest rating.
Gamboa is his best win but even at that... does two C's and a B+ fighter merit FOTY?
Canelo has beat Lara who has a by far more impressive resume than Gamboa, put this into perspective Gamboa hasn't beat anyone as good as Austin Trout and he had been inactive for a year and wasn't big enough for the weight?
Clear FOTY choice... I do not think so.
GGG, Canelo and Pacquiao should be well ahead of him.
With an UNBEATEN RECORD
Well now you're just changing the criteria to suit your agenda.
And unbeaten record is no good if you have an obvious loss on it anyway.
