I'm not a fan, but I've liked what I've seen since my first exposure to him in the Proksa fight. He's cool, fun to watch, and must-see TV. However, it's occurred to me that he doesn't yet have a signature win, whereas his fellow KO artist Kovalev now does.
In terms of credentials it has to be Geale, right? He looked like shit in there against Golovkin, but beforehand he had a very close fight with Barker (maybe should've won, maybe not), beat an OK Mundine, and handed Sturm his first loss in 6 years.
If anyone says Macklin... I have to ask, why?
People are gonna laugh at this but I'm being dead serious here, it's Rubio. I said that going in and I still stand by that.
That's an interesting pick. I can't say for certain that Geale or Macklin would beat Rubio, but I think at least one of them would.
Geale. I would have said Murray would be his best win after he beats him if it wasn't for Murray looking like completely utter **** lately. Whatever cred he earned from his good Martinez performance is basically gone. So it'll still be Geale for a long while.
I think it's Geale for both on-paper and how good the fighter was when he fought them. Highest rated, prime, closest to the time he had a world title. Really good win. I wasn't big on Golovkin when the hype train started but now I've got some toes on the bandwagon after Geale. Very anxious to see how he performs against Murray and if the Cotto fight gets made.

At this point..it is easily Gaele, former world champion.
Clearly Geale. It's a shame that Pirog got hurt. That fight was signed.
Korobov us probably up next after Murray. After that we might seen Canelo or Cotto.
It's easy to discredit Geale, Macklin, and Rubio, but consider if Golovkin had fought Quillin, Sturm, N'Dam or Pirog and they only lasted 1-3 rounds as well?
But he hasn't

So far the quality of Golovkin's resume is taking on similarity to another MW great before him - Hopkins. Prior to Trinidad, Hopkin's resume was not based on any signature fights, but longevity and sound dominance. Hagler also needed to wait for the smaller men to move up in weight until he had his signature fights. I don't really consider Alvarez to be that great, but it looks like he and maybe Charlo/Lara will bring that for Golovkin. Unlike Hagler & Hopkins though, Golovkin may supplement his MW run with a few SMW's like Froch & Ward (Hopkins permanently moved out of MW before fighting above 160).
Macklin and Geale were supposed to fight. I'd have probably picked Macklin.
Geale is the epitome of average. Not that Macklin is much better.
Rubio is a total bum.
Geale didn't give him the best fight though, despite having the best credentials that was Ugandan Kassim Ouma.
Oh yeah, I forgot I watched that one recently. I heard it was an all-out war, and I wasn't disappointed. Ouma really didn't give a toss who was in front of him, unlike every MW now. :D
Also, contrary to what others say, I think Stevens gave him a good fight as well - he caught him with some great shots and stepped right up in his face for some rounds.

It probably would have been if Rubio had actually turned up.
for me his best win is Geal.
Daniel Geale is his best win, former unified world champ and #2 Ring ranked MW when Golovkin fought him.
Beating Geale > Quillin/old Martinez but he would've got more credit for the latter two because they're better known to the US media.
Geale didn't give him the best fight though, despite having the best credentials that was Ugandan Kassim Ouma.
But is does just an excuse to bash him or what? Every boxing fan knows talent is thin on the ground at 160.
No. I just wanted to get an idea from people who've followed his career for longer, as to what they consider his best win so far. Granted, he doesn't have a signature win yet, but I want to know who everyone thinks is the best name on his resume.
I would make a case for Rubio as well, but it's been a long time since the Chavez and Lemieux fights - his shine had dropped since then. Don't be getting all defensive, GGG fans. I'm only askin'.
His best moments to date are all the Middleweights who refuses to sign a contract! Sergio came back to fight twice after his injuries but didn't take on the "other" champ (GGG), what does that tell you? GGG is the best at 160 for now regardless of who he fought.
As for Koval's signature win he fought a 49 yr old cherrypicker who lost every round by wide margins!!! If "signature" means non combative then yes, signature!
Ray
He doesn't have a 'signature' win. The only possibility of a signature win at middleweight was Martinez, who was so crippled when he was wiped out by Miguel Cotto that it probably wouldn't have been all that impressive beating him either.
