It isn't a word usually associated with an undefeated professional boxer who has won championship titles across five weight divisions. But for a son who was a witness to his father's beating of his mother four years ago, "coward" is an apt term to describe Floyd Mayweather Jr.
In an article published on USA Today, Koraun Mayweather, the fighter's eldest son with former partner Josie Harris, recalls the night his mother was attacked by the boxer in 2010.
"(My dad) said to lock my door and stay in my room," said Koraun, who is now 15 years old. "I sat there and thought about what I was going to do next. Just for like a minute."
Harris was asleep when Mayweather arrived with an associate, James McNair, at around 4 a.m. The boxer, agitated by the fact that his former partner was dating another man, beat her in front of their then 11-year-old son.
"I ran and I tried to go through the front door to go to the (security) gate," Koraun said of his actions during that night. "But then his friend (McNair) came through the door and blocked off the stairway for me to go through."
The boy then went back to his room, locked the door, and got out of the house through his bathroom to call for help.
"I just told (the guard) that my mom was getting hurt and to call the ambulance and the police," he said.
Four years later, Koraun is still seeing his father every once in while. Mayweather recently gifted him a golf cart for his birthday, but the boy said he is still coming to terms with what his father did, especially with the boxer's continuous denial.
"He is a coward," he said.
After everything he had seen, Koraun, now 15 years old, has no plans of taking after his father's footsteps in the boxing world.
"I find (boxing) boring. It is just like how people sit in the ring and fight for 12 rounds and it gets boring after a while," he said. "Sometimes they run." ***8212; Marisse Panaligan/JST, GMA Newshttp://www.gmanetwork.com/news/story/389032/sports/boxing/floyd-mayweather-s-son-my-father-is-a-coward
See I read things like this...then I wonder
Where do you draw the line GoldenGloves?
This whole "I only support him when he's in the ring" is just another way of saying you don't really have an issue with the crimes he commits outside it.
I still see people supporting Valero and Stevenson and it's the same principle, it reflects on them as people. Truth be told, these people really couldn't care less about the victims of their crimes preferring to turn a blind eye putting their sporting hero-worship ahead of decent human behaviour.
Doubt they'd hold the same position on it if the same man was assaulting their mother, sister or daughter. Then it would matter.
All of that, and he'll continue because he has a father and uncle who did it so he sees it as normal behavior. "control yo' bitch", isn't that what he yelled at a couple in Vegas.
He should send him to watch Matthysse or Golovkin, he would probably fall in love with the sport.
have you ever petetioned for thanksgiving or columbus day to be banned from being celebrated?
I'm one of May's biggest fans for what he does in the sport of boxing and in business too. But that's got nothing to do with stuff like this.

Floyd is a despicable human being. You have to wonder if the same is true for people who root for him. Its so obvious what a low life he is and yet they continue to support him.

See this is why most people hate this dude. It ain't because "he black, rich, and fly doe". It's because the dude is a piece of sh*t human being.
But of course we're bound to have mother**kers who pop on and say sh*t like, "I don't care what he do outside the ring doe...I just want to see him in that ring doe". The guy didn't just f**k up once and regretfully put his hands on a chick. He has been doing this sh*t for years.
Floyd is a straight scumbag.

Isn't it comical Mayweathers son is bored by boxing, anyone wonder why?
He should send him to watch Matthysse or Golovkin, he would probably fall in love with the sport.
I notice this as well, maybe they are late bloomers? late bloomer Males stop growing at 21 or something so he still has time. Koraun is only 15 but he is very tiny, he is like 5 foot 2.
Floyds kids are all really short maybe they eat a lot of candy and drink soda and go to bed late watching daddy's boring boxing style
^^^true dat...

this is sad
All of Floyd kids are extremely short, especially the oldest daughter. She's like 14/15 and looks 10. Her little sister that is like 11 is almost the same height as her.

As for this article, little messed up letting her son do this but I dont disagree with it. Floyd tries to put on there this false image of his relationship with his kids and their mothers, and this kid is basically calling it bull****.

What he's done for boxing? You mean bringing in the type of fans that don't see boxing outside of Mayweather? Do you know how many times I've found myself in conversations with Mayweather fans only to find out they don't know Whitaker, Lennox, Morales vs Barrera trilogy, Ward vs Gatti trilogy? Mayweather has turned boxing into pop culture (in a very bad way). Actually, I compare him to Taylor Swift; great talent, bad for their respective culture. Mayweather turned boxing in a world star type environment and he's done nothing for boxing except turn into a pop culture brouhaha (you might need to google that word) and now we're going to see nothing but Mayweather clones (Broner) for the next ten years.
YEs, Mayweather has skills, but he's turned the art of pugilism into a freak show joke. I'm 38 and grew up with boxing and I can tell you, just like many other purists will agree, Mayweather has turned boxing into a joke. Mayweather has created a fan base that's a clear joke. Skills or not, Mayweather is the epitome of a joke and the majority of his fans, well, I laugh at them.
Now, to add to the recent article (USA Today is far from a satire site (can't believe people are are suggesting it's fake)) with his son's testimony, I will never take any other Mayweather fan seriously from this point on. Mayweather fans might see him laying on a table with 20 strippers around him as an accomplishment or use the excuse, "he's rich, doe," but let's face it, boxing is done with Mayweather, boxing fans are done with Mayweather. Mayweather fans are nothing but a joke now.
He has done nothing for boxing. Under the "Mayweather era" you saw boxing popularity hit all time lows in the US and migrate to Europe & Asia where the champions are less abhorrent. He has made a lot of money for himself as P4P king if that's what you mean.
Like Mike Tyson (who was sent straight to prison for a much blurrier case involving a woman and lost about everything) talked about, the biggest fights in boxing have Floyd in them, and Floyd is boring as hell, so to casual fans, boxing is boring as hell. They hear that's the best guy in the world... Pay the $70... Never watch again.
In "business"? He had a failed soda company. He can't even read. He went bankrupt and owed the IRS money 3/4 through his career. Everything else was handled by guys like Ellerbe (RIP), Schaeffer and Haymon.
His major accomplishment is being the top ranked fighter in a time when PPV prices and profit margins have become retardedly high. Nobody can take that away from him.
I'll tell you what. You guys can have a discussion with me when you both learn the difference between "for" and "in" because they're different words and you're reading the wrong one. Also disagree with you completely but I'm not worried about it. To each their own.

I agree 100%. I can't wait until Mayweather is gone and I'm saying this as a person that roots for anyone that fights Pacquiao (Sorry, I'm just not a Pacquaio fan), so this isn't a Mayweather/Pacquiao discussion. I'm not the only one that thinks the Mayweather clan is toxic to boxing and the fact that he declares himself as, "G.O.A.T" and people buy into that? I'm really looking forward to his retirement.

It's more sad though that so many people get joy out of his faults that cause misery to his family. I got no respect for what's gone on in his personal life like this and think a lot of it is likely true and I hope he comes to realize where he's gone wrong and turn it around before it ruins him. He's earned about everything a man can want in life but his kid's respect and that's a shame for real.
Note to crazy biased posters: No matter what happens in Floyd's life outside the ring, it does not count as a win over him inside the ring. You can stop getting excited over it like it is. It's weak.

I've never paid a penny to him for any of his PPVs so my conscience is clear. Not sure why people continue to.
Ever read the material from his jail sentence, where he had his bodyguards force the kids to stay put while he beat their mom in front of them? That isn't TMZ ****. It was criminal court.
When you say he's boring people call you a 'hater' for wanting to bring him down... Well I think at this point wanting to bring him down is called being a good person.
Someone like Tim Bradley takes entertaining risks the ring and is a decent person outside of the ring, gets mostly ignored. We would rather give a billion dollars to the guy who lands more punches on his prostitutes than he does in his lame ass "fights" aka interpretive dance routines.
Koraun ain't nothin but ah p@ct@rd. He man uh many things but ah master of nothin. TMT don't even like Koraun he ain't cool at all bruh. TBE is dah past present and future of boxing. Just wait till he fight Swift who is a better boxer then Pakiow anyways. At least he a rich coward doe! Stewww! Oh what you haterz got now!
I was going to say something quasi-racist until I saw the way you spelled, "Pacquiao" and knew you're joking. Nobody can be that dumb.
See this is why most people hate this dude. It ain't because "he black, rich, and fly doe". It's because the dude is a piece of sh*t human being.
That's exactly how I feel. The guy is a master at his craft, but he's a piece of shit as a person.
Even his own family have caught on to his ways.
I'm sure people around him, family or otherwise, have been on to his ways for years and years. The majority of people will look the other way over and over and over again so long as the money & gifts keeps coming their way.
Look at those groupie chicks that hang around him on all-access (or 24/7 when he was back with HBO). They look at him like he's f**king disgusting. But they put up with his whack ass jokes and listen to that retarded drivel that comes out of his mouth because they know they'll get something out of it.
