Wow, he faked a jab to the body and you could see Pulev's hand going low to block it only for Wlad to turn in a lunging left hook. That's knockout of the year.
**** man, good anlysis. WLAD was doing some cheeky kovalev jabs to the body but yea he feinted that one...
:lol1::lol1:
whooops
I've taken that back something like 10 times by now! :lol1:
In my opinion, you should be thankful as Wlad is obviously driven by his critics, saw my post and said: "Screw it, I'll show that hater".
MANY boxers throw deceptive leads without a tell..usually against far better fighters than Pulev.
Ok, to the extent that we're all talking about pros here, then, you're right, many do have that in their toolbox. Fair point. I could have been more precise in what I was trying to get across and that is that there is a short list of fighters on the top level who's ability to lead stands out. I think Wlad is one of them, it's just that his fights are so disjointed sometimes that these things see the light of day in fights that look like trainwrecks.
wlad is just awful. after every punch he throws he clinches so he can't be hit. everytime his opponent is about to throw a punch he grabs them so they can't. tony weeks was the ref so we know he's not going to do anything about it even though in the first round he clinched on purpose at least 10 times. no warnings. no points taken off. the scam continues. henry akwindade please make a comeback and clean out the division.
You can't reduce me to a nuthugger. Remember, I'm primarily a Hopkins nuthugger, not Wlad.
I'm a converted Wlad fan as he earned my admiration. I actually rooted against him before I started rooting for him.
Now how bout that "he doesn't have a hook".
Really? I would place you firmly in the nuthugger category. :lol1: But that's alright.
Haha, I take that back!! I just hadn't seen it for a while, which you could also read further in the thread.
He stood tall to get the maximum out of his height and it actually worked. Wlad was in trouble in the first round but HE ADJUSTED.
He couldn't punch down at his opponent and he couldn't keep him at bay with his regular jabbing routine. So he was forced to jab to his midsection and he was also FORCED to start bouncing around on his feet because there was danger in being flat footed. Pulev had punches in his arsenal that could get to Wlad's chin.
So basically, all credit to Wlad. He found a punch that was getting in there and he stuck with it until the KO. It wasn't just another TKO where the guy is getting beat up and worn out.
Have you ever made a post where all credit didn't go to Wlad? :wank:
the fat out of shape guy was a sitting duck just like i predicted? shocking result. his 250 pound whale carcus had no mobility, no agility or flexibility(ability to dodge punches), and no ability to recover. his defense consisted of him putting his hands up to block punches instead of moving because moving his fat ass around the ring takes a crane.

Yes. A champion always finds a way to win. Vladimir can adjust.
Well the couple of jabs he did land, and a few right hands is more than 90% of all other Wlad opponents do. He also had the balls to hit Wlad when he was clinching which I liked.
I know, I was thinking about that myself :lol1:
Glad to be proved wrong though.
:beerchug:
I'll just leave this here
As was displayed throughout Holmes' career, and his similarity to Ali would back me up on this, he had a weakness for a left hook.
Wlad doesn't have a left hook.
That left hook is so deceptive... looks like another jab, comes sneaking around Pulevs guard, snaps him.. down he goes. I actually thought Pulev has a strong chin, but usually fighters suffer from getting hurt early as he did, he didn't recover from those other couple early knockdowns. But yes Pulev did well but has a very shaky defense. Good win for Vlad, and a KO for the Americans!
Pulev doesn't have a particularly good chin. People laughed when I mentioned the Abell knockdown. What Pulev has is a great ability to recover quickly. Although of course no one is recovering from that knockout left hook!
How did Pulev put up a good show? He stood right in front of Wlad with his chin in the air, not moving his head a millimeter ever. He did nothing besides a couple jabs.

And you were the one whining about Vlad never doing anything but throwing the 1-2, oh the irony :lol1:

In some prevalent eastern Euro styles, range control and keeping weapons at the ready are higher priorities than constant head movement (see: Kovalev vs Hopkins), especially when the fighters are 6'6" and 6'4" and "slipping punches" becomes geometrically unlikely.
Smaller guys like Lomachenko fight more "western".
You need to familiarize yourself with the different styles of boxing before offering expert criticism to a fighter like Pulev.
Are we still led to believe that Wlad is on the decline? Doesn't seem that way to me...considering some of his last wins have been probably some of the best scalps of his career.
