Although it might just be for the cameras, we've seen on several HBO 24/7s and Showtime All Access docs that Mayweather eats McDonalds food. How often he does and how much, no one knows for sure.
But, in his last few fights Mayweather didn't look quite the same, not as fast or as fluid as he once was. He's supposed to live an otherwise clean lifestyle but McDonalds food is known to come attached with health risks - could it be that Mayweather's penchant for McDonalds is actually contributing towards his deterioration as a fighter?
it might. While Floyd Mayweather Jr. has famously admitted to indulging in fast food, including McDonald's meals, even top‑tier athletes aren’t immune to the long-term risks associated with poor diet. Eating fast food regularly especially if it becomes more than just an occasional treat can lead to nutritional imbalances, inflammation, and decreased athletic performance over time. So yes if Mayweather’s “McDonald’s diet” becomes habitual and he slows down training intensity, the drawbacks could start catching up with him. On a separate note: if you’re curious how the strategy of mixing indulgence and discipline works out for others kind of like what Great Wall Alma does with varied menu choices I can help show you a few cases where athletes tried “junk food + training” and what happened.
It's certainly more complex than calories in/calories out.
If it was that simple then the perfect diet would consist of a quart of iced cream LOL It's got everything I need and nothing I don't right? :lol1:
It is more complex than that. I think that a lot of it too is dependant on how many calories are actually absorbed and what gets passed through.
If you ate say 7000 calories in one day, conventional wisdom would say that you just gained about a pound of solid fat. Its probably not possible for the body to even make a pound of fat in one day, so most of that probably just passes through. You will probably gain a lot from water rentention for a few days but no way you can make a pound of fat in a day.
He eats it some times. The calories dont really matter when you train intensely every day, youre burning a lot anyways. It small amounts it will have no effect, he has a chef during camps anyways so most of it is for show on 24/7
Look at this man's father. He's like in his sixties, shredded like crazy, still cat quick. Money can probably eat McDonald's every day for the rest of his life and do the same. That's genes. Same way Hatton can eat McDonald's every day for a month and people stop recognizing him.
Yes they do but i'm on about there physiques!
Well Roger and Floyd Sr were both pro boxers and athletes - Khan's dad wasn't - so for all we know Khan might prefer to keep in shape at an older age - it wouldn't be first time a father and son follow a different health regimen through life. Look at Roy Jones Jr for example he is in great shape while his dad is known to be regularly overweight.
micro nutrients....................
some food is unhealthy...............
It's not going to hurt you so much as it won't do you any good. Hence why I said not really unhealthy just less healthy. You can supplement vitamins if you're lacking them. It's not a good fix but it does help. Granted I don't recommend eating mcdonalds and I think it's crap but, you "can" just eat that and be okay. Though how'd this thread get from floyd eating mcdonalds to floyd only eats mcdonalds....
im sure it is his diets, why every bone in his body is sissy and why he's always breaking his hands
on the positive, it gives him plenty of energy to work out as he advertises
This certainly isn't true. There is a reason it's called junk food.
McDonald's junk is super high in unsaturated fats, sugar, salt, and low in fibre and vitamins. You literally eat yourself into a risk of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, etc. Their junk contains chemical additives too, and their happy meal might make your children hyperactive, not to mention it is bad for their health of course.
Try this for yourself. Eat super healthy for just one month, all the time. Then visit a McDonalds. I guarantee you will feel sick.
Yes I understand if someone labels "fat" in general as not being all that bad, that's fine. But McDonalds and other foods are a ****tail of disaster in so many different ways it's poison.
We aren't talking about poly on mono unsaturated margarine here, these trans fats and LDL cholesterols, salt have a habit of clogging up the arteries and increasing heart disease. The sugars lead to tolerance problems, ultimately diabetes and so on.
And then theres the additives. And then there;s the lack of micronutrients (vitamins and minerals).
I don't know why anybody would argue otherwise!

Supersize me was step up, and all attempts to recreate it since then, have never shown similar results. Also no, food isn't really unhealthy in general, although it can be "less" healthy its just a different term. It's all about calories in and calories out, while maintaining a macronutrient balance...
You can eat mcdonalds all day if you really wanted to put in the effort to work it off but most don't. Like said before ochocinco used to do it. If you intake 4000 calories a day burn 4000 you'll be okay. Also genetics plays a huge role. I can eat anything I want as long as I exercise constantly, while I know people who struggle to drop weight eating breadcrumbs...

Floyid probably does eat Mcs once in a while but most of the other time he refuels with the good stuff, and FLoyd probably could be a nutritionist he probably knows more than Doctors.
He dont refuel on big macs or pizza, but just has it once in a while which wont hurt him.
I wasn't quite sure what I've been seeing him eating on those 24/7 show things but I did see some stuff that didn't particularly look that healthy.
Deep fried chicken etc
Who knows he is like 37/38yo it could be that and father time is starting to play affect on his reflexes.

I watched the Canelo fight yesterday and that's a completely different Mayweather in that fight. His feet are 100 times better and his reflexes. Maybe he should be at 154
moving up in weight is not going to help his feet or reflexes, he is too small for 154 anyway
Floyd can act pretty dumb but I think he's alot smarter than people give credit. Regardless of whether you think he is ducking or not, you can't stay at the top of the sport at this age without taking care of your body. He doesn't drink or smoke etc so I can imagine he keeps his diet relatively clean as well. He's not exactly Mayorga or Hatton
Yeah your spot on Weltsch.
It's not like just ordinary fatty nutrient, it's really high in the worst types and bad cholesterol, sugar and empty calories, hardly any essential nutrients. And aside from that I've also read that many of the additives in Maccas are deleterious to health and promote fat gain, arterial plaque.
The preservative is what got me, years later a cheeseburger was found almost perfectly preserved, that's pretty bad lol.
Supersize me was a good documentary, should be watched!

McDonalds is terrible for your body.
IT'S ALL ABOUT BURGER KING! BURGER KING! WE GOIN' TO BURGER KING!
No but seriously, it baffles me that someone as rich as Mayweather would buy McDonalds. It's the sh*ttiest food on earth. Just clogs up your arties. No vitamins, no nutrients. Just high calories. Fat, sugar, salt.
If I was Mayweather I would be eating free-range chicken and organic fish all day every day. Avocados, nuts. farmer's market.
I don't think it's the McDonald's slowing him down. But he's definitely faded. A lot of smoke and mirrors in that Maidana rematch. Then again I've thought that before and he keeps finding a way to win.
Floyd looks about done to me.
The only "hard work" and "dedication" going on around TMT these days is the late nights working out inventive ways to duck PAc. Fact!
