There is no way Kovalev moves down to 170 for starters. So for it to happen froch would have to move up to 175(which he is reluctant to do).
But lets say in a dream world froch moves up to 175 to fight Sergey. There is no doubt in my mind that Kovalev would destroy froch within 8 rounds. Froch has a punches chance, like any power puncher does, but thats it. Im a masssive froch fan and think hes a ATG and a very underrated fighter. But Kovalev beats froch in every department, plus the fact he a dam a dam big light heavyweight.
Well said, nice savvy post.

As a Froch fan, I wouldn't want to see this. It'd be too brutal.
Thank you very much. Aside from those who bleed Union Jack colored blood it's easy to see.
I'm a big fan of both fighters. Can't help but feel that people are going a bit over board with Kovalev at the minute though.
That said, i'd pick him to beat Froch. Kovalev is a massive LHW, Froch is a natural SMW.
There ya go, that's using common sense.

Wel ok then. "Showed no interest". He showed no interest because he has no interest in moving up in weight, it's not really about Hopkins. Cleverly offered to fight him at 170 also. It's not about the opponent.
I don't see how 2 lbs is a big deal really. I never heard anything about not fighting Clev. News to me.
I'm just pointing out how moronic "If boxer A could/couldn't do this or that, then what do you think Boxer B could/couldn't do?" arguments are but you seem to love them.
Here let me be you for a second...
"If Darnell Boone could drop Kovalev like a sack of sh1t, what do you think Froch could do?"
Stating the obvious is that are in two different weight classes. That's a 7 lb difference, not to mention how Froch has been proven to be out-boxable while KOvalev has not and he just beat one of the best boxers ever at his own game essentially. Froch has no chance to beat him on a decision homer.
Accept it.
I don't understand what you was saying in the first para.
I wasn't referring to his record, just that most fans and critics pick Froch to lose in most of his fights but he usually finds a way.
It is obvious that Kovalev should be clear favourite if they fought, and i'd pick him to win, but that doesn't mean that i'd laugh at people who picked Froch, it's not exactly Garcia v Salka, Froch is no mug. And as i said before, not everyone who should win does win. That's the beauty of sport.
I have much respect for Froch. He's kind of a arrogant douche in general but that goes with the territory when you are as confident as he is. He's done great for himself with his limited ability with his heart and sheer determination. Keeping all that in mind, with his age, size and lack of raw boxing talent, he has less than no chance at all to beat Kovalev by a decision. It could never, ever happen. Froch's only chance would be to get a KO in some form or fashion which is possible. I was not laughing at those who predicted that outcome. Just a decision win.
Who said anything about scared? There you go making things up again because you're too sensitive. Hopkins would've fought Froch at 170, but who could blame Froch at not entertaining a Hopkins fight... zero to gain, everything to lose. Lol scared. What's wrong with you?

Because he doesn't particularly want or need to move up to Light-Heavyweight. He does 168 comfortably. He turned down a huge offer to fight Nathan bloody Cleverly - was he scared of him too?

Froch would have his hands full with 49 yr old Hopkins, why do you think he showed no interest when Hopkins was talking about facing Kessler/Froch winner.

What's the point? Froch is smaller and can be outboxed. If Groves could buckle him like that what do you think Kovalev would do?
A high workrate against Kovalev would do nothing but get Froch knocked out faster. Think about it homer.

I disagree. I think he has been mentally in all his fights and only wiped out in one. Even in that one I still think his head was in it and he was trying to win to the very end but could just not make it happen. I feel that he really lost the Dirrell fight and was losing to taylor before coming back late.
That said, It's so obvious that Kovalev is way bigger and has the necessary skills to outbox and overpower Froch under any circumstances.
Just my opinion.

Hopkins is 50 years old and throws about 4 punches a round at this stage.

Not every fight goes to plan
If every fighter beat who they were "supposed" to, then no one would watch and it'd be boring
I do think Kovalev wins comfortably, but I'm not going to pooh pooh a different view. Bear in mind Froch loses most fights before a bell has rung.

I love how people picked Froch winning a decision. I lol at the remote notion of it in fact. If Hopkins couldn't win a round against him no way has Froch got a snowman's chance.
