The nature of his destruction of Cloud only 5 (now 6) fights into his career combined with amateur wins over guys like Kovalev and Mekhontsev paints a bright picture for his future. ATG? Maybe not, but at least worthy of a few high-profile showdowns. I like to wait until a boxer has beaten a few top fighters before i start matching them up with the very best. Tavoris cloud is absolute pants. It'll take more than that for me to start saying what a bogeyman Beterbiev is. Potential for sure, but as of today that is all it is - potential.

He used to start fighting late. Usyk, for example, nearly outclassed him in the begginning of their 1st am. fight, but then ran out of the gas and took the beating on close distance. Beter is not a 1st number in the ring, he lost to Usyk the 2nd fight too - due to work by 2nd number, in my opinion. Furthermore, if you see the Cloud bout, he managed with this. Just came closer and broke him down. Further fights will show the picture.. And he's definitely a close range fighter. He would have issues to get on his distance fighting Sergey..

Oh I see, I only made the comparison because I saw he only has a few pro fights and he's already being discussed against champions at his weight class. Thought he was another amateur phenom like Loma. He was a standout amateur, just not on Lomachenko's level. Gold and silver at the world championships and a controversial loss to a Chinese fighter at Beijing.

Didn't Beterbiev have a win over Fury in the junior worlds as well? tbh I expected him to be a career amateur, was a pleasant surprise when he went pro and he's certainly blossomed.

I don't think Kovalev would go for him before he gets a crack at Stevenson or Pascal.

Honestly dont know the man's amateur's background..and i was not taking shots at beterbiev either...just skeptical and dont want to jump the gun and conclude he's the complete package with only seeing 15 minutes of him including a replay,lol... But so far, he.is looking like a tank with rate of fire of an assault rifle...will keep an eye on him for sure.. Has wins over Kovalev in the amateurs, I think Kovalev beat him once too. Brutally KO'd Sillakh, moved up to HW and most likely would've won gold if he didn't face Usyk, who he dropped and had close fights with anyway. He can be outboxed by a really good boxer but he's a GGG type puncher for his division. The only question mark for him at this point is "deep waters", but he fights at a comfortable pace that I doubt stamina will be so much of an issue.

Provided Kovalev can defend and keep his titles, is there any chance we can see these two slug it out? I see crazy potential in Artur and I believe he will be much much scarier than Kovalev, probably stopping him inside 10. Your thoughts please. Kovalev was just another Pavlik, now Beterbiev is another Lemieux. Anyway, Artur is the biggest threat to Kovalev now. I believe he's the best fighter in Montreal as is. Is it true that beterbiev has 2 wins over kovalev in the amateurs? But yeah would be a sick fight. Beterbiev looks to be another menacing puncher with amateur pedigree and boxing skills to boot. Kovalev lost in the Russian national amateur championships to Beterbiev, I don't know if there was also another time.

Kovalev is more technical better overall boxer with range crisper puncher. What Beterbiev has on his side is his brute strength but he does load up on shots and hasn't been pushed at any point in his pro career he needs some fringe type fights first.

He's fast as hell for a lhw and with good crisp powerful combos but he needs more experience imo...he could be a case of a david lemieux we dont know since cloud couldnt stay there long enough to give us much info....he's a beast so far for sure Lol... no worries about him being a Lemieux. Yep as above he's definitely making the right sort of noise like his other countryman Umar Salamov also an up and coming powerhouse
