Favorite boxer and athlete in all sports....I didn't see the fight live....I ate some shrimp and got an allergic reaction....had to take 2 benadryls....knocked me out but I set the DVR and watched it later....props to Frankenstein, he's official!!....I knew this day would come if Ex kept fighting at this age but I didn't think Frankenstein would be the one to DOMINATE him....I thought he could beat BHop but not dominate the way he did...I'm impressed with his skills and I do believe he's the best at LHW....Ward would have issues against him imo...Adonis gets KTFO...Frankenstein is the man
I'm proud of Ex...no matter what he will always be my fav athlete and one of my biggest role models.....it wasn't easy watching that fight....it was brutally difficult to watch....Frankenstein had all the answers for the few easy questions Ex asked of him.....I'm still Philly proud and still believe our fighters fight real fights against real opponents....we'll be back!!
Hopkins still my dawg too!! No shame in losing to a better fighter.
This breed also beats a Mayweather and Pacquiao on the same night.
P4P that is... lol
hopkins is a legend and im sad to see him go. but he does need to go. in some areas he is still world class but he just doesnt have the ability to put it all together at 49. no shame in that, nobody ever has and i would be surprised if anyone ever will.
what he has accomplished is nothing short of phenomenal, he will be missed in the fight game.
Ya I'm really going to miss the dirty cheating punch-headbutt-grab bore fest of a fighter he is.
hopkins is a warrior and is more than willing to fight the best. he walks the talks unlike a thick-skinned fighter that proclaims himself tbe but ducks worthy opponents like a plague. :pat:
Never been a Bhop supporter but always respected the work ethic and dedication to the sport.
I'm pretty down that he didn't win, but I guess it was in God's plan. The whole world was finally looking at Bernard but he didn't get that classic result. Instead the dream didn't happen but reality did. He didn't take a chance and he didn't adjust at all. I knew Kovalev will be patient and I expected that Bernard will know this, however he showed he didn't and had to learn that night. Big mistake by Bernard for focusing on what he can do more so than what his opponent can do.
Mr Philidelphia summed it up perfectly.
Hopkins ran towards the fire and there's no shame coming up short. Most boxers half his age don't take those risks. Props to B-hop for chasing greatness
He lost but lasted the full 12 with Kovalev something no one else can say
I'm no fan of Hopkins but he is a great fighter and one if the best of his era.
You won't ever see a fighter do what he's done again.
So respect to Hopkins.
I always hate the guys that beat Hopkins except for Kovalev. He fought great and intelligently but most of all showed respect and class afterwards so for me it was like a passing of the torch to Kovalev who is clearly the number 1 175 pounder.
A lot of people doubted Hopkins would even step in the ring with Kovalev. And then they said Hopkins would look for a way out, clinch, headbutt and cheat. He didn't do any of that. Obviously Kovalev was way too much for Hopkins so his offense was extremely limited but he hung in there and took some huge shots that I guarantee would have knocked out most men. He didn't quit despite obviously being dominated and hurt multiple times. In the process he attempted something truly great and although he lost that's more that can be said for most young fighters of today's generation who stay clear of tough challenges. Bhop is the man and Kovalev is the true king of light heavyweight, respect to both men.
Hopkins was nothing but class after the fight and if you can't respect the man after that and for taking the fight in the first place (like Cleverly. Respect) you've got issues

great post but wouldnt expect anything less from natas
B-Hop got out better than A LOT of other fighters who stuck around for so long. I'm sure we've had other favorite fighters of ours that took much more humiliating beatings that left the new era of fan wondering why people even considered them great to begin with. Hopkins isn't going to suffer from that.
:lol1: seriously?
He literally won every round. Proved he's not a "face first bum" and just picked up 2 more titles from Bernard Hopkins.
Hopkins was never beat like that before.
he beat a 49 year old man who hasnt looked good in years. no disrespect to BHop, it is a quality win for kovalev but there are some things BHop just cant test at his age.
kovalev certainly isnt a face first bum, he showed many skills against BHop and he is definitely a force in the division. but i did see some flaws in him as well. he has very little head movement and stands straight up, he tends to move in and out in straight lines not utilizing angles much, his inside fighting ability seems none existent and i still have questions about just how good his chin is.
all in all the tools he brings makes him a tremendous fighter, few fighters are truly complete in this day and age and all in all kovalev is truly special imo. but lets not crucify a guy for pointing out the fact that there are some holes in his game or that he isnt unbeatable. but again, what he does bring to the table will take him a long way.
Not only did I watch the fight I can see what I'm watching. A skill many of you posters on NSB apparently don't have.
Is that why you called Kovalev a "face first bum"?
Absolutely!!! But in real life every fight is different. Kovalev didn't have to show movement in some past fights. I can only critique what I see.
Your critique is bollocks.

I see a bitter pissed off gunner fan that's mad his team choked today and is trolling it out on me. Come back next week when your team gets a result.
Trying to comment on another subject you have no idea about?

Nice to make your acquaintance, Ray Charles.
