How was Trinidad past his best when he fought BHop. He was the favourite going into the fight, was only in his late twenties, had a 40-0-0 record and was a reigning middleweight titlist.
im judging by how he looked in that and subsequent fights. anyway,,,,,hops was just much too big and physical for trinidiad regardless

I don't agree. Trinidad was past his best and was just not big or physical enough for Hopkins at that time in his career. kovalev is a natural light heavyweight with power in both hands and descent boxing skills. I think Hopkins at his best was better lb4lb but kovalev wouldn't have been able to fight at middleweight. hes just much too big
B hops best shot would be Prime MW B Hop vs Teenager Kovalev.
In his prime he was a middleweight but he had the skills to do what he did to Trinidad.

I agree. it would have been closer but hops has never really beaten a good boxer his size with power and skill. Trinidad and dlh were well past there best and pavlick was also moving up in a weight class he was unfamiliar with. big credit for Hopkins longevity but hes never been an atg fighter
I agree, be prepared for to be crucified here for that opinion lol
Yes of course it would. It would be a close competitive fight. I still like Kovalev to win a ud. He is too big and powerful for Hopkins who was a middleweight in his prime. Hopkins was much better 15 years ago as would be expected.

hopkins was never able to beat complete fighters with a combination of power and speed. cracks me up the Hopkins nuthuggers that thought hed dominate kovalev
Agreed.
There was one guy that bet me a million vcash but I didn't note who it was and I forget :lol1:
Same fight. Horrible style matchup. Prime hop would still not be able to take the power.

It would be a different fight 5 years ago, let alone 10-15 years ago. Hopkins had very little to offer tonight.
I do think Kovalev would always be an issue for him. For a massive puncher, he's active and athletic.
