What does Bernard Hopkins have to do to get in the top 10 ATG?

He'll never be top 10 atg, he lost to joe calzaghe.

Bottom line is that beating guys like Kovalev won't cut it.

To be highly rated you need to do things few people have done. So if he beats Kovalev he deserves top 20 at least, but more likely higher. He is a bit behind Pac, but above Floyd.

For Bhop to be in the top 10, he has to beat either of the Klitschko Bros or even just an Andre Ward.

Be born 10 years earlier and beat the likes of Ray Leonard, Hagler, RJJ and James Toney. Fact is, hopkins doesn't really have the best resume and he didn't fight everyone contrary to popular belief.

At MW, he stopped undefeated Glenn Johnson, undefeated Felix Trinidad, and Oscar De La Hoya. At LHW, he decisioned RING LHW champ Antonio Tarver, Winky Wright, undefeated RING/lineal MW champ Kelly Pavlik, and RING/lineal LHW champ Jean Pascal. Great resume. he also lost to calslappy,,,dawson and taylor. those losses cant be ignored. he does great with the one dimensional sluggers but struggles with the slicker boxers. to be a top 10 atg you have to be able to beat all styles. hes a hall of famer and freak of nature but not a top 10 atg regardless of what he does with kovalev

(Oscar,tito,winky) pavlik was also smaller. ornelas,cloud,shumenov,murat are all nobodies. his wins over tarver and pascal are impressive. Hopkins lost too calzaghe,taylor twice. very close fights tho. jones and dawson beat him no debating. and im gonna act like the jones jr rematch never happened. b hop is a fighter that has lasted a long time in this game. and that is a special feat. but Hopkins never dominated guys. nobody ever watched Hopkins fight and said, this might be the greatest fighter of all time. now with all that being said he is an all time great. and one of my favorite fighters, but he isn't top 10. and beating kovalev isn't gonna bring him any closer too the top 10. sillkah,agnew,caparello are kovalev last 3 opponents. 3 nobodies in a row and now if Hopkins beats kovalev its some kind of all time win. yes. I was thinking winning the lineal title and defending it and Pascal was the next legit contender. how about winning the lineal to become undisputed against stevenson and then defending successfully against dawson? that avenges a loss. we all know he beats pascal again because he won the first fight clearly. if he's gonna do a repeat fight he might as well avenge the loss. the defense of the lineal championship really doesn't matter for me. becoming undisputed seals the deal for me because that would take going through kovalev and stevenson back to back

Beat Kovalev. If Hopkins beats Kovalev on Saturday he is a top 10 ATG across any division and he is the single best (GOAT) LHW ever. IMO

I don't think about ATG top 10's, 20's, etc...it's too hard. He is one of the true ATG's, that's all that matters.

And i have also seen list with Chavez sr on them..great fighter but we can argue Hopkins to be ranked higher Yeah I agree. I love Chavez Sr. but I would rate a lot of contemporaries (Hopkins, Floyd, Jones, Pacquiao) over him.

Hey i know this was a typo but either way how is Chavez Sr universally known as top 10 atg? I've actually seen list or known people who would rank Chavez SR as top 10 believe it or not, would I no, but hey thats the point. You never really see B-Hop listed in the top 10, although he is already rated amount the best ever.

Who says hopkins isnt there already? These are subjective list's you know. Id have him in the top 20 for sure. That is why i rank Hopkins higher..good resume,historic runs and longevity That's fine, bud. I have no issue with people rating BHop higher then Pea.
