I think sat nights match between Hopkins/Kovalev is the 2nd or 3rd most anticipated fight for me this year. When trying to predict it I cant ho but go back to Pavlik and Trinidads fights bs BHOp both were in their prime and undefeated power punchers. I think Kovalev has more skill that Pavlik and prob more power ( for his weight class) than Trinidad. But BHOp always seems to nullify fighters strength when it's power punching. That being said I have never seen someone KO a guy with a jab to the body like Kovalev has twice. And his skills are pretty impressive throughout his career thus far. If I had to put money on it is probably go with Kovalev via UD. I just don't see anyone KOing Hopkins. He's way to smart of a fighter to let himself get knocked out. If he does feel Sergeis power he will go into survival mode much like Mosley did vs Pacquaio.
I think Hopkins just talks a lot of S. He says smart things, and he says really stupid things. He loves to hear himself talk.
Lots of people love to play the victim to psych themselves up. I don't think bhop is really a racist.
Too much smoke not to be fire. There's at least a half dozen instances that he's brought up racism and basically admits to it by feeling like and believing that the quote, unquote African American race is superior on a normal basis.
That, in it's essence, is racism. I lol at the FACT that he did lose to a lily white boy just because he said that he wouldn't.
All I gotta say is, if Kovalev beats Hopkins, I don't wanna hear ****!!! Alit of y'all talking like Hopkins is gonna school him, so after it's done, don't come up with a bunch of excuses.
Luilin you must be a young kid to say something as juvenile as "kill" when speaking of defeating an opponent! Respect the athletes that compete, you can have favorites but you use a term that denotes ignorance on your part.
I've seen a man die in the ring right in front of me!
R.I.P. (1/9/80 Charlie Newell Hartford CC vs Marlon Starling) boxing is real!
Everyone is looking to see what happens when Koval lands and there is intrigue there no doubt. However I think the bout unfolds when Bernard lands and I want to see Koval expression. Now Bernard is not a big puncher but I've watched some weird expressions on Koval face when he got hit a few times.
Remember everyone is still waiting for him and GGG to get some heat on them to see how they respond. Bernard will have to step into him to keep him honest so we will see what his deal is!!!
This maybe a burner if Bernard takes center ring from the start.

But only if somebody was holding a gun to my head.
I don't see how he's gonna' win, but I won't bet against Hopkins.
Nuh uh...
The answer to your question is absolutely. Howver, I disagree with you about Kovalev having more power than Trinidad. It is hard to compare power of people in different weight classes, but Triinidad fought, beat and KO'd much better opponents than Kovalev has fought. Hopkins will school Kovalev the way he did Trinidad and Kovalev's power will be no more of an issue than it was in the Trinidad and Pavlik fights. However, the fight will be closer on the cards simply because Hopkins is 13 years older, slower and less skilled than he was when he beat Trinidad.
I had to LOL at the bolded part. R u serious?
I don't think it will be that bad but I am starting to think Hopkins beats him on points. I hate that I feel this way because I can't stand the racist jerk Hopkins.

Trinidad's a f*cking welterweight. :lol1: Kovalev would knock him out in the first round.
Then again, I probably shouldn't argue with someone who thinks Shumenov is better than Kovalev.
No, sh..t, sh..thead! The guy who posted the comment about Kovalev beating Trinidad on his worst day must have known that too. So, I assumed that he meant if all things were equal, Kovalev would beat Trinidad. I disagreed. Take the stick out of your ..... This is just a freaking message board.
Maybe you're right pal, maybe you're right.
We'll know after the first 4 rounds, if Kovalev can't hurt him and Hopkins gets into a pace it's a wrap.
It's going to be interesting to see because Kovalev is probably the hardest puncher Hopkins has fought, atleast in a while.
Hey...Saturday is going to be historic..i promise you
I have no worries..Hopkins is going to take him to the school of Hard Knocks

hopkins hasnt really beaten anybody noteworthy or what you would deemed a true great fighters since he has fought in his 40s. its always against champs who werent really great fighters. if this fight is legit and on the up and up, kovalev crushes hopkins.
but since this is the most corrupt sport in the planet and kovalev has russian mafia ties, it would not surprise me to see kovalev bet against himself and lose and make a sh*tload of money.
if the fight is honest, kovalev crushes hopkins. this isnt mid 30s hopkins vs a burnt out trinidad. this is a 50 year old vs a in his prime stone cold ko killer.
If this is true, then you will say the same thing Saturday night around 11 p.m. because Kovalev is not a great fighter. Kovalev's best win is against Nathan Cleverly. Nathan Cleverly couldn't beat half the guys Hopkins has fought in his career.
It is good to see that you already have your excuse ready: Kovalev bet against himself and threw the fight.
I don't think it will be that bad but I am starting to think Hopkins beats him on points. I hate that I feel this way because I can't stand the racist jerk Hopkins.
It's very possible. Pavlik or Trinidad style though? That is the thing I expect least out of this fight. Anything else, even Hopkins stopping Kovalev, wouldn't surprise me like Hopkins dominating that way.
I don't think that's out the realms of possibility Larry. I'm picking Hopkins.
But this is a dangerous fight for Hopkins for sure.
I have no worries..Hopkins is going to take him to the school of Hard Knocks
Kovalev, on his best day could not last 8 rounds against Trinidad. Beating up and KO'ing stiffs, which is what Kovalev has done thus far in his career, may make you a beast on the Boxing Scene message board, but real fans know the difference in quality between an opponent like Nathan Cleverly and Bernard Hopkins.
I, for one, can't wait to read the excuses people like you will make after the fight is over, such as: Hopkins cheated, Hopkins fought dirty, the ref was terrible, the ref wouldn't let Kovalev fight his fight, Kovalev was distracted, Kovalev wasn't in shape, Kovalev's corner gave him bad advice, etc, etc.
The truth is Kovalev is overrated and Hopkins will prove that this Saturday night!!!!

Neither guy has fought anyone similar to each other. At least not in a very long time.
Hopkins is über skilled and clever
And has lots of tricks
And can easily out-move the clunky Kovalev
Kovalev has a tough character and won't get frustrated easily like Pavlik
And has a$$loads of power
But he can't win if he doesn't stay continuously active.
This is the most interesting fight this year, and for that reason I still haven't landed on a solid prediction.
