And are fighters called heavy handed.. literally heavy handed?
I mean hand size as a whole length and breadth.
I notice pacman has rather big hands, Maidana has huge goofy hands with goofy freaky ass knuckles while guys like Malignaggi and Floyd have feminine fine hands..
I also notice this in myself I have a rather broad longish hand, feels rather empowering when I shake another mans hand and engulf his hand with my big manly hands. I also have a big punch.
Look at these guys, always nitpicking what I say. Why not focus on the point at hand. I just said his bone structure isn't like the typical chinese structure.
Punching power is derived from bone density, technique, torque, leverage. For instance Manny has very dense bones and I don't think he ever damaged his hands. He also has small hands but that's beside the point. His biceps are average size but his large forearms provides more leverage and snap with less resistance. The most important factor is the simple phrase "practice makes perfect". Manny's finesse in how he perfectly displaces his energy with flawless technique is deeply rooted in his years perfecting his unorthodox power punching style. Practicing the same power punches everyday for your whole young life will develop the most efficient power. Also Pac has a thin upper body allowing him to really fling punches while being deeply rooted to the mat with his massive calves(he has a very very low center of gravity)
Well take the case of for example ballistics.
.45 APC @ 230 Grain 850fps = ~365ftlb of energy
.45 APC @ 230 Grain 950fps = ~460ftlb of energy
Now take a .40S&W or .40 Cal
.40S&W @ 135 Grain 1350fps = ~565ftb of energy
So, in this case the smaller/faster and close to 50% lighter bullet carries much more energy than even the fastest/heaviest of .45 APC.
Its all about technique, speed of the punch and and following thru or punching thru the target.
And to close, like someone else mentioned earlier...you got to use your legs and torso...ie: Technique
45ACP with the right loading will deliver more muzzle energy than the 40S&W
Bruce Lee people who think he would "overcome size using magic" are the worst.
I was around in the early days of MMA and we had hoped that would disprove the magical kung fu Bruce Lee **** most people imagined martial arts to be because of movies...
Nope. In fact now it's going around the Bruce Lee "invented" MMA (something that's been around since ancient Greece). I give up. Some people just think movies are real no matter what.
Well UFC and Dana White are the ones promoting Bruce Lee as the godfather of MMA concept.
Bruce Lee is my hands down favorite movie bad ass, along with Bronsan.
But most of the guys who made Bruce out to be this super human were mainly black guys lol, I remember when I was a kid growing up in the 80s. They had that movie last dragon remember that the main character moved and acted like bruce lee and was name bruce leeroy.
Bruce Lee was a very philosophical thinking martial artist, and I do give him credit he was ground breaking in his approach to martial arts, he said all that fancy traditional martial arts is useless take the most affective things from each art and use them, he said a jab is one of the most effect punches, and simple and powerful is better.
He implemented grappling later on but died, Judo Gene Lebelle said Bruce was ahead of his time, he believed in cross training, weight training, and mixing martial arts.
This is a good idea of why people consider him ahead of his time, he was a no BS guy who broke the barrier of martial arts and traditional martial arts.
"Someone with only a year of training in boxing and wrestling could easily defeat a martial artist of twenty years experience."

Taking a happy slap off him would result in a knockout
The more force/mass you can put onto the smallest impact area possible the better, else boxers would slap each other.
On the other hand your hands can't be too small in boxing for worry of fragile bones.
I don't think there's any real advantage to abnormal sized hands.
I remember in the movie "Raging Bull", about Jake Lamotta, Robert De Niro was complaining to his buddy Joe Pesci about how he has small girly hands, and Pesci was like "so what, i do too",etc....
Not sure if this scene was based on a real life account, but i heard Lamotta could pack a punch....
Without thinking too scientifically though, something about common sense tells me a bigger fist would still hurt more due to having more of a "club" like nature, than a small hammer for example...
midgets like to live in a fantasy world where everyone is equal. Most of them believe their midget god bruce lee could beat someone like mike tyson

some of the responses are ridiculous.
"i sparred once, and this guy who was smaller than me beat me up. guys with smaller hands hit harder."
who has bigger hands, a HW or a FW?
