This question comes to mind because i am looking at Maidana's social networks and damn he gained A LOT of fans from his two fights with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Let's do a comparison.
Marcos Maidana facebook (verified page) 1,226,076 likes vs Tim Bradley facebook (verified page) 51,192 likes.
Marcos twitter (verified account) 253k followers vs Tim Bradley twitter (account isn't even verified smh) 62.9k followers.
What happened, why ain't tim bradley a "hot ticket" after two fights with pac? Chino don't even speak english and he is a way bigger star than Timothy.
It looks like Chino's days as the B side are over..
It increased a lot after the first fight but then he got his butt whooped by Provodnikov and lost the Pac rematch
He also has a very unmemorable style... Very good but it's just all over the place, no signature.
I think the lack of a 'signature' is the key point. A lot of great fighters suffered because of that. It's not easy to categorise Bradley.
Maidana has the more fan friendly personality (cold, silent killer who loves guns and tattoos) and fighting style (heavy handed brawler). Plus he's Latino and panders to the Mexican audience, built-in fanbase. Tim, although a good fighter, doesn't excel at anything particularly, he's just a well rounded guy who works hard. Also, his personality (homebody, family man, little league football coach, ect.) is not very intriguing or controversial. It doesn't help that the media and fans alike vilified him for getting a gift decision in the first. With that said, social media doesn't paint the entire picture and we don't know how much Tim's popularity has increased until his next fight and what kind of ratings he puts up.
One of the more intelligent and clear headed posts I've read in this thread. Good stuff!

are u seriously compaing maidana to bradley in popularity? lets see, when maidana fought floyd, each and every other mexicans became argetinian for that night LOL!! when bradley fought pac, all the african americans turn their head the other way. this should answer ur question. and after the 2nd fight with pac, bradley did gain some respect and some more fans.
Because everyone saw Tim lose to Manny in the first fight and he got a gift anyway. People have a hard time letting go
Pretty much this and him not having the balzs to ack'd it, and calling for an immediate rematch.
I think the gift decision Tim got in the first Manny fight sealed his fate.
His fights with JMM and RP were entertaining, but for me Tim just lacks a strong enough personality to really stamp himself on the front page.
He is a nice guy, and a great, talented fighter with real heart but maybe his lack of a KO 'highlight reel' holds him back.
I believe that popularity in boxing is based on polarizing fan-bases - People love or hate Floyd, Manny, Tyson, etc. When it comes to Timmy people just don't really care EITHER way.
Less his personality and more his style I reckon. If he could punch he'd have a following.
Bradley is just not a fighter that people follow, his worth isn't that great. It's the reason why he resigned with Arum when he had a chance to leave as a free agent. He knows what Arum was offering him isn't going to be topped by anyone else outside of Top rank.

Maidana is Hispanic and Tim is American, first off. Second, Americans don't follow boxing too much in comparison to other sports. Third, a lot of people don't like Mayweather while a TON of people like Manny.
Your first two reasons are sound but I don't know about your third. If a ton of people like Manny shouldn't they all be buying his fights? Still? I think the luster has worn off a bit and it'll take a little more than an Algieri to change that, even if he KO's him Hatton style which the stage has obviously been set for. Mayweather's #'s against Maidana weren't news shattering either. After "The One" turned out to be just another typical Mayweather fight, fans aren't quite buying that his opponents have much of a chance to beat him. He too will have to step it up in 2013.

Fighting a popular fighter doesn't make you popular. Maidana is a crowd pleaser with his attacking style and great punching power and he gets KOs all the time. Bradley is not a puncher and fans can't look forward to him knocking out his opponents. Also Bradley needs to fight a hell of a lot more often. He fights less often than even Pacquiao and Mayweather. He averages about one fight every 10 months and that is not enough to help your popularity. Fans forget about him because he is doing nothing too much of the time. He is in his late prime and he should try to fight at least 3 or 4 times a year like GGG. I like Bradley but I doubt he will ever be that popular.

It looks like Chino's days as the B side are over..Just YouTube his trainer Joel Diaz and in his interview he will give you the straight answer and he doesn't hold back or pull any punches either.
It speaks volumes to how high Pac is actually regarded by the boxing world. Mayweather is the clear top dog in boxing and to increase your earnings you just have to perform well against him. Pac's popularity grew because he was marketed as the man who could dethrone Mayweather. Pac has never been looked at as the man. And that is completely evident with the lack of disgust of his choice of opponents. Mayweather is regarded so highly that when he fights champions and guys off the P4P list he is called a cherry picker. Pac fights Brandon Rios and Chris Algeri and people justify it.
This right is pure real real sht. No wonder why you are in red too.
