He has had years to get in shape now & in truth he is just getting fatter.
Boxing is so physically demanding can anybody tell me how its even possible to train so hard yet still be that size?
He is obviously not bothered about being in shape so lets not use his weight as an excuse.
The kid has 23 pro fights and his best win is Tor Hamer who quits everytime he gets hit back. Andy Ruiz Jr had 110 amateur fights, that is a lot of fights for a HW. Us fans wanted Wilder a guy with only about 30 amateur fights (albeit at a higher level) to step up. Why is nobody calling for this kid too?
To put this into perspective somewhat Joseph Parker didn't have anywhere near the amateur career this kid did, he was fighting better opposition 6 fights in! 10 fights in & this kids fought Minto, Botha, Nascimento, Sherman Williams.
110 amateur bouts, 23 fights into his pro career & he is still fighting 12-8-2 journeymen
why should he step up? so that he can be destroyed? no thanks. we saw what happened to fatazz arreola when he stepped up. lost 4 times and was even outpointed by adamek who is a terrible heavyweight. hopefully ruiz doesn't get the same hype that arreolla got while knocking over tomato can after tomato can.
As talented as Ruiz is the fact that he came in at 270 in his last fight is a very troubling sign. I think the reason he isn't being stepped up is because he probably doesn't have the conditioning to last deep into a fight against these top fighters that will actually take him there.
He needs to lose a lot of weight. At least come in at around 240.
i'll venture that ruiz not only eats a ton, but he sits around and eats processed garbage. probably a drinker, too.
alcoholic drinks are stored as fat very easily, and has lots of calories. a gram of alcohol has 7 calories, IIRC. that's just eh booze, mind you, and not the sugar that you see in most drinks. a gram of sugar / carbs has four calories. same with a gram of protein.
you don't get like that, or stay like that, without being total slob. especially when you are a pro athlete, the amount of food that guy eats would be freaking staggering.
i'm guessing that andy literally eats fast food, and that he's a regular drinker. he probably drinks 10 beers on a big night.
Yeah you'd know, yer fat bastard.

i think you underestimate just how much a big man like that can eat.
i can eat several times what my friends can eat. several times. i am not exaggerating. people just don't understand that.
you probably don't even believe me.
We need to put emphasis on heavy.

Yeah you're right.
That is him actually at one of his lowest weights Hes put 20 odd lbs on since that fight

I don't think he is a threat. He is going to miss the boat as the HW is sizzling right now. Ruiz needs to get down to the 242-250 lb range to even be taken seriously vs. good HW's.
this guy is worse than arreola, he talks all this **** doing interviews and his record is weak...he has some quickness to him but he seems undisciplined and is a hard person to like
I dot understand how you can be a boxer and be that fat.
Doesn't make any sense.
I don't get it either.
I have a job where I walk around all day, and even that moderate excercise means I can mostly eat what i want and stay slim.
This guy gets paid to work out and be a pro athlete. Same goes for Areola, Chisora, Povetkin, Fury etc etc.
Wtf are these guys doing in the gym?
We need to put emphasis on heavy.

Yeah you're right.
That's just disgraceful IMO, dude is obese. If you showed this pic to any regular people they'd laugh at you if you told them this guy is an "athlete."

Because there isn't as much hype for Andy Ruiz as there is for Wilder, and unlike Wilder, Ruiz keeps to himself.
He doesnt have to do anything the kid could fight easy fights and make ok money and never get a title shot . Hes probably 3 years from either a title run or retirement
