1. Floyd Mayweather.
Of course. Greatest fighter of his generation. Top 3 welterweight ever. Top 3 Jr. Welterweight ever. Pretty much in the top five of any division he ever competed in. He is worth $420 million bones. The richest man in boxing history including promoters. Lost a step, but is still miles ahead of the competition.
2. Canelo
Canelo's schedule is what sets him apart. He has ducked nobody. He has answered all questions, and the Mayweather fight was technically beneficial for the young Superstar. His points victory over EL stands as the most impressive victory of the year. He did not blow him out ovb, but he won the fight against a supremely gifted boxer that nobody wanted to fight. He risked his earning potential to fight a guy that provided minimal financial upside. In fighting to slick boxers within a year, Canelo has shored up his game. He is more seasoned now. There is but 2 boxers on the planet that can beat this kid right now, at this point in his development.
3. Rigo
I hate his style, I do not appreciate his attitude towards his opponents, but the fact is he is one of the best pure boxers we have seen in a long time. Let alone 2014. His schedule seems set to pick up with a loaded 126 pound division. It would be insane to pick against him in any of those fights. Thats why Nonito wants to go to 122 not 126, believe you me.
4. Manny
Manny is winning, and a champion, so it would be ludicrous to keep him out of any top 5, but I will say, what will happen the next time he has to work? What happens the next time he is really pushed? I think he will be tested next month, Manny has trouble with boxers, and I do not recall him every fighting a tall longer fighter. A victory for Manny will do nothing, a victory for Chris will mean everything, and thats the point. Manny is not taking CA seriously, and he is in danger of losing much more than his title of he does not get it together.
5. Benard Hopkins
Unified Light heavyweight champion at 50. Set to fight the scariest man in boxing, a choice he made, it was not a mandate.
HM
GGG- He is a B fighter until he stops fighting them.
Cotto- Both his recent wins are tainted for different reasons
Tim Bradley- Looked real shaky against Manny
What have you been smoking? Or you're just trying on what you think is a subtle troll?
First, and this is what made me realise you're just trolling, how's he a top 3 ATG in a division he's only ever had four fights in? Competing against guys who have had entire careers at 140, beaten significantly better fighters and more of them? You muppet.:nonono:
Second, how could he possibly be a top five lightweight, also with only four fights at the weight, over Whitaker, Canzoneri, Ortiz, Duran, Joe Gans, Benny Leonard, Ike Williams, Henry Armstrong etc etc? He doesn't even get close to being up there with the top 10-20 lightweights of all time like Ismael Laguna, Barney Ross, Esteban De Jesus, Kenny Buchanan etc. Even who he beat, Castillo, is still a significantly higher ranked lightweight than him, as would someone like Mosley be.
You consider him a greater welterweight than Emille Griffith, Jose Napoles, Luis Rodriguez, Ray Leonard, Henry Armstrong, Tito, Gavilan, Walcott, McLarnin, Ross?
The only division he's genuinely, and clearly, an ATG in is 130. Otherwise it's p4p all the way, which is fine. He's not stayed in any one division long enough or done enough in it apart from 130 and 147, but it's not enough at 147 to rate him a top 3 ATG and the quality certainly isn't.
Having a 147 resume of: Zab Judah, Sharmba Mitchell, Carlos Baldomir, Marcos Maidana, Ricky Hatton, Juan M. Marquez, Victor Ortiz, and Robert Guerrero is good, but it's not 'greatest ever' good. :lol1:
Wow I got under your skin, that was an impressive response, in terms of passion and length. There is to many holes in your argument to really list them all. I will assure you I am not a troll, the fact that you are so determined to undermine an ATG resume, is beyond me. But, I will let you think what your going to think.
yea,,,,,there's never any talking sense into mayweather nuthuggers. they have there own laughable criteria and don't stray from it
Thats your argument? I am a homosexual because I believe Floyd is the #1 fighter in the world?? Right. That makes alot of sense.

Solid list...although replace Canelo with Ward. but don't you agree that Ward's inactivity hurts his cause? He has talked himself out of the discussion.

He is all time top 5 maybe top 3 depending on who you ask at 130 but above the weight he did not establish himself in another weight enough to say he is top ten all time....Pound for pound I have no problem with someone saying that he is top 20-25 all-time...He definitely has the talent, credentials, title fight success and longevity....Look where a lot of the past greats were at 37 not named Archie Moore or Bernard Hopkins....especially fighters that fought fought in the lower weight class like Floyd....Once they reach 28-30 its downhill.
His level of excellence and dominance over 18 years has not been seen in the sport before and may not be after
Top 3 Welterweight ever? He isn't even top 10.
Top 3 Jr. Welter? Nope.
Nope. He isn't in the top 5 of every division he ever competed in. He isn't top 5 in any.
LMAO.
he is definitely top 5 at 130......
Canelo
GGG
Wlad
Pacquaio
Froch
Honorable Mentions
Marquez
Cotto
Mayweather
I think its so whack that users showcase 2 or 3 of the punches that chino landed on FMJ, its pathetic, its like trying to find a little victory when homeboy LOST. Ugh, peace.
Top 3 Welterweight ever? He isn't even top 10.
Top 3 Jr. Welter? Nope.
Nope. He isn't in the top 5 of every division he ever competed in. He isn't top 5 in any.
LMAO.
you sound goofy dude, please list 10 welterweights that are greater than FMJ, you can't, not without talking out of your keaster.

they were credible heavyeights and haye and povetkin still are. youre one of the very few that disagree with wlad being in the top 10lb4lb. hes on most lists so wake up and accept it
David Haye? I think you need to read up on the history of the heavyweight division, Wlad's schedule is super soft, and his style is horrible. Nobody wants to watch him fight and he is the heavyweight champion of the world. He has trouble getting showtimes and HBO dates, he also, is not worth that much money, in fact, if you look at net worth, Wlad is one of the lowest earning heavyweight champions ever. He is worth half what his brother is. its sad. He truly will be the champion that time forgot.
LOL, YOU MEAN TO TELL ME THOSE GUYS ARE CREDIBLE HEAVYWEIGHTS? You have got to be kidding me, you just made my point for me silly.

byrd,,,peter,,,ibragimov,,,brock,,,chambers,,chageav,,povetkin and haye were all good fighters at the time wlad fought them. hes been dominant for 10 yrs as champ. quit being a hating moron and accept it
LOL, YOU MEAN TO TELL ME THOSE GUYS ARE CREDIBLE HEAVYWEIGHTS? You have got to be kidding me, you just made my point for me silly.
He has been champion of the worst heavyweight division. Flat out dark ages. He fought nobody, and the two times he was touched, he got knocked out.
The sad thing...this is not he worst heavyweight era
The era between Joe Louis and Muhammad Ali was prerry bad.....Rocky Marciano never faced a prime great fighter, there were none in that era, Floyd Patterson is a HOFer was a great smaller fighter who won the heavyweight title but he isn't a top 10 all time heavyweight....Sonny Liston was great and is borderline top 10 depending on who you ask but the 1950's and early 60's was not a great era for heavyweight.
Joe Louis era was not great.....nor was the early 80's
Jack Dempsey nor Jack Johnson fought in deep eras like the 90's or 70's but are considered 2 of the best ever.
Klitschko would compete on the highest level or be a champ in any era.
I ask again, who has Wlad fought, who?
byrd,,,peter,,,ibragimov,,,brock,,,chambers,,chageav,,povetkin and haye were all good fighters at the time wlad fought them. hes been dominant for 10 yrs as champ. quit being a hating moron and accept it
GGG is nowhere near the convo
Is he talented? Damn right
Is he proven on the top, elite level? Not yet
Therefore he does not belong.
There are too many people with comparable talents and better resumes for him to break the top 5 let alone even the top ten.
Mayweather, Klitschko, Danny Garcia, Canelo, Roman Gonzalez, Andre Ward, Froch, Bradley, Juan Manuel Marquez, Rigondeaux are all more proven on the elite level...he is not
When those guys fought his level of opposition they look awesome as well.
Gotta proof your worth in the ring to be considered a top 5 fighter in the sport solid post, finally a reasonable boxing mind.
Had to :lol1: at this one ... but here goes ......................
Wlad has been Champion for 9+ years and undefeated in 10 years. In spite of the talent level presently active in the heavy-weight division, Wlad has beat all comers.
Almost forgot part two: Ward is still the undefeated super six tournament winner and current Champion.
He has been champion of the worst heavyweight division. Flat out dark ages. He fought nobody, and the two times he was touched, he got knocked out.
