I remember the Mercer fight. These days with Wlad it's all clutch, grab, hold and dance
Not always!
When Wladimir fights a short bull-type opponent, it has been and always will be jab and grab and hug. He wont expose himself to anything scrappy ever again. He knows he will be hit on the inside and he knows he wont hardly ever be hit at distance. This is key to continual victory for him against these opponents who can achieve victory by being tough but not necessarily skilled. These are the lessons he learned from aggressive Sanders and bull-like Peter. Let's just hope we never see such a fiasco as the Povetkin fight again!
Should be noted that Povetkin was equally to blame. If flopping like Haye or bulling like Povetkin are the only methods available to try land a freak money shot, time to get a new game plan.
Against taller/larger opponents, Wladimir doesn't really grab much at all. Punch speed and punch power wins him the fight as against Thompson, Wach, Pianeta etc. These guys tried to box Wladimir.
I wonder what would have happened if Wladimir ever fought Tyson!
One of my favorite fights in fight night champion. Tyson v. W klit
I dig the occassional tyson thread.
As far as excitement, Tyson all the way.
Tyson Stand-Up was absolutely hilarious.
Mike Tyson was a more entertaining heavyweight in his sparring session with Corrie Sanders than Wladimir's entire career cramped into one.
Obviously Freedom voted Wladimir :lol1:
Wladimir Klitschko, pre-Steward, WAS a brutal and exciting fighter. Offensively oriented.
Many uneducated fans would be shocked to learn that after the first 20 or so fights, Wladimir had never been past 6 rounds before having KO'ed every single opponent, most often in a round or 2!
This is much better performance than even Tyson!
Of course, viewed over entire career and given that Wladimir's style is for most less impressive to watch, of course Tyson is the more visually stimulating.
Compared to today's Wlad, it's not even a question though.I remember the Mercer fight. These days with Wlad it's all clutch, grab, hold and dance
You guys got a vid? I didn't know Mike was doing standup? One of the things I admire about Mike Tyson is that he completely reinvented himself and has gone on to a second and third act in life.
really you never heard or seen it?

His stand up show was more entertaining then Wlads last fight
I was impressed by his delivery. I went into it thinking it was going to be terrible. I thought it was incredible.

I get the fun in downplaying, but I can't even entertain that. Stand up comedy has never been my thing, but it wouldn't surprise me Tyson was ok in the role, as the comedian line-up is weaker than the current HW division.
Sh1t was hilarious..better then some comedians stand ups,,,Tyson defines entertainment..when he speaks you have to listen

I actually watched this again today. I'm still surprised at how well he did.
