This fight needs to be made. Will be a huge test for Lomachenko. Both are very likeable guys as well, so it's hard to route for one over the other. But I have Lomachenko winning (too much skill). Maybe by KO if Walters decides at some point he needs to really press Lomachenko if he finds himself losing on points... I see Loma being too slick and having better movement and possibly catching Walters. But Walters will definitely test his chin like never before.
i didnt say his defense is bad, but people are acting as if he is a rigo, young floyd, young toney type defender and its simply not true. salido did pop him more often than he would a truly great defensive fighter.
a great defender is always a great defender too, loma is very hard to hit when he uses his legs but inside his defense is far from great and he tends to leave himself vulnerable when throwing flurries of punches.
there is no doubt loma was special in the amateur ranks, just like there is no doubt he has the potential to be the same as a pro. but i dont think he is there yet, far from it actually.
beating a guy with literally zero noteworthy wins seems to have completely erased the memory of the salido loss in many peoples minds, but not mine. its easy to just blame the low blows, but there was more to it than that. mainly that there is still too much amateur in him.
based on lomas brief pro career i see a ton of potential, but potential that is still yet to be fulfilled. does anyone really think walters loses to salido with or without those low blows? or that he doesnt completely decapitate russell jr? styles make fights and im not saying he will definitely beat loma based on that, but too many people are acting as if loma will not only definitely beat him but make easy work of it and it doesnt make much sense looking at their recent performances.
None of those guys faced a guy like Salido in their 2nd fight. Heck Rigo got KDed and barely squeaked by a worse fighter in Cordoba in his 7th. Pro experience counts
Walters will have a power and size edge on Lomachenko, but it's not like Lomachenko hasn't faced bigger guys before.
He took all of Salido's best shots and Salido came into the fight at 147, and Lomachenko almost stopped him at the end. Salido also hits harder than Walters. I don't think he'll get overwhelmed by the power of Walters and he's definitely the better boxer, has better foot movement, changes levels well, and unlike Donaire doesn't just settle for pot shots.
I got Loma 116-112 if the fight takes place. Walters would have to stop him.
I'll take Walters if they face each other next. Lomachenko may have got by Russell, but that doesn't mean he's ready for the A-list guys in the division.
Such a sick fight if it comes off as rumored. Both fighters have attributes to bother one another. I need to watch a bit more of Walters before I decide who takes it.
. does anyone really think walters loses to salido with or without those low blows? or that he doesnt completely decapitate russell jr?
I honestly I agree with you here... But something about Loma seems very special and I feel like he can improve, show us a new level, and come out with the win... All we can do is continue to speak up so this fight may happen. Both guys seem very humble and gracious in victory so whoever wins, it's a win for the sport of boxing.
Where do people get that from, Russel couldnt land more than 10 punches per round and solido only landed low blows

I think their closely athletically gifted but Loma has that size difference
True, but Rigo has the speed advantage and counters like a demon out of hell. Also I heard Rigo spars Welters but I'm sure it's common practice to spar those in higher weight classes.
hell no.
walters may be close but he isnt even on the p4p list yet himself. the only other real win loma has is against russell jr who beat literally nobody. throw a loss in there against a guy who is solid but far from great and i dont see how thats p4p material.
if he beat walters he will have proved himself following the salido loss, but he will still be far from p4p. without avenging that loss directly he would have to basically clean out the division imo.
Well thats his plan and it looks like Loma's camp is already talking a solido rematch
Yeah, Russell was firing off that jab like a machine gun but kept landing short, lol.
I know ive seen alot of people say that and i dont think thats true, Also people underestimate Lomachenkos power, If he fought 20 tomato cans he would have 20 KOs
If Loma Beats walters does he enter the p4p list, Also im thinking this is going to on Canelo-cotto undercard

One thing is for sure #1Assassin, that man in your avatar will wait in the dark until someone is brave enough to test their "light"... But I don't see anyone outshining Rigo, not even Loma...

i think loma has the style to beat him (even though i said the same thing about donaire). i got to go with walters though, he proved himself much more. russell was the most untested fighter to get a title shot in years and loma lost to salido. he got a tough break with the low blows for sure, none the less i dont see how either salido or russell see the final bell with donaire let alone walters. nonito is a level above anyone loma has fought, yet walters disposed of him in much more impressive fashion.
loma has a some terrific boxing skills, talent and he has shown he can be durable as well. but i have to say i was underwhelmed with his last two performances, walters on the other hand blew me away with his destruction of a guy who was considered the number 3 p4p fighter in the world only a few fights ago. a man who beat countless champions and only came up short in his second fight and against the supreme rigondeaux, until last night.
loma is no rigondeaux, he gets hit quite a bit. he is a tremendous offensive fighter but his defense isnt anything extraordinary, walters will get to him for sure. i dont think he will knock him out but i think he will put a beating on him and win a decision.

He only gets on the p4p list if he beats Rigo... But it would GREAT to see this fight on a Canelo-cotto PPV...

Some things to consider:
Both Loma and Walters have power. Walter's defense isn't as a good as Loma's, and Walter's wasn't able to avoid Donaire's power and got hit flush. I imagine that Loma hits just as hard as Donaire and is BETTER at finding openings and keeping up a tight defense in the process. Loma has proved he can keep up a strong pace all 12 rounds, can Walter's say the same?
With that said, Walter's also proved he has a good chin and he is willing to trade. He has speed and power and often lands big clean punches in these exchanges. But Loma also proved he has a good chin in the Salido fight. But Salido isn't nearly the athlete that Walter's is.
A Loma-Walter's matchup pits two extremely naturally talented ATHLETES against each other... People say that Walter's is more "seasoned" but, JUST like the case with Gary Russel Jr, Lomachenko will be his biggest challenge to date... So, it's funny that all these seasoned pros find in Loma their biggest challenge...Of course, Walter's will also be Loma's biggest challenge(until, or if ever, he fights the KING Rigo)
Also, as previously mentioned, because this is such fan favorite fight, the onus is on HBO and Top Rank to market this fight to its full potential... I would love to see at least one HBO 24/7 series(although that is probably asking too much)...
And let's not forget that Loma was ringside at the Walters-Donaire fight sizing him up.
Loma also continues to improve with every fight. Both men have a lot to prove as they get closer to being star attractions.
War Loma if it happens.
Walters defence isn't exactly perfect, his jab is good, I can agree with that, but Loma will neutralize it with his great head movement. Also Lomachenko's jab is even better than Walters.
Obviously Walter's power could make a diffrence but like I said Lomachenko's defence is too good. Donaire had Walters on queer street and Vasyl's got enough pop to take him out in rounds 10-12 maybe even eariler with a bodyshot.
My pick: Lomachenko by late stoppage.
Walters is good. Loma is just great.
I'm not too sure about that. I'm picking Loma by close decision but I don't think he has enough pop to badly hurt Walters. Gary Russell Jr looked like an undersized midget compared to Loma and Loma hit him with everything but the kitchen sink and couldn't even drop him. I can't imagine Russell coming close to lasting the distance against Walters.
