For the first time a non American is my favorite fighter. I want to see him fight Canelo who I also enjoy watching. Please make it happen! I think GGG will destroy Cotto if they fight.
He's exciting.
He's a knockout artist.
He's willing to fight anyone.
He's the opposite of Floyd. Therefore Floyd fans hate him and everything he stands for.
I think he took "Mexican style" to heart going into the Rubio fight. That was the most destructive I've ever seen Golovkin fight at the beginning of a fight. Usually he's more cautious and tactical to start.
i think he just assessed the risk and decided he could get away with being more reckless. he does that often. i think against someone truly dangerous like froch he would show a lot more subtlety and skill
Golovkin is a likeable fighter and an offensive machine. But these fights are just brutal. I have no interest in watching any more of them. He's 32 and I'd like to see him challenge himself instead of hoping for others (who have already challenged themselves) to step up and face him.
before i could see how people didnt like him because of all the unwarranted praise he was receiving, at this point its not unwarranted. but im talking about a couple of fights ago.
the only reason i think people would dislike him now is his fans, many of whom are just morons as is always the case once a fighter goes mainstream. for example i never disliked pacquiao, but i would be lying if i said i didnt enjoy the thought of some of his fans seeing him get knocked spark out.
that said i dont think there are a lot of people who dont like golovkin, i hardly ever see anyone speak ill of him. its more that his fans take little things and blow them out of proportion. say he isnt a top p4p fighter yet and his hardcore fans act as if thats severe critisism, which it isnt.
again, just like anyone who goes mainstream. say mayweather or pacquiao would lose to leonard and hearns and according to their crazy fans you are anti pac or may too.
It really is usually the fans. I don't have any problems at all with Golovkin or Pacquiao. I think they're awesome fighters. However I take issue with some moronic things fans say like Ward is scared of GGG or Floyd is scared of Pacquiao. It's a shame but it makes me less of a fan of those fighters when they start to believe some of that crap themselves.
I don't have anything against him, besides for that he is pretty much untested. His last 2 fights (Geale and Rubio) were supposed to be step-up fights and both fighters just quit. Geale was being outclasses pretty bad and probably should have never been in the ring with Golovkin to begin with. Rubio on the other hand, wasn't. Rubio was actually holding his own, but the first light punch that Golovkin landed, Rubio took a dive. I am not blaming Golovkin for it, it's not his fault, but he is still untested. Everyone wants him to fight Canelo or Cotto, but those fights aren't going to happen anytime soon. There are big money fights out there for both of those guys, so they aren't going to fight Golovkin for nickels and dimes. Maybe he can get a fight with Chavez Jr and that can be his big breakout fight he is looking for. Ward also said that he would fight him, but I am not sure that Golovkin should even get in the ring with Ward at this point.
He's alright. I thought he looked a little robotic last night. I didn't see much head movement. I've seen him looked better against other fighters. Rubio looked like a tomato can. The jury on GGG is still out for me.

I don't know. You have to be a jealous, insecure fan of another fighter to not like Golovkin, I think. Otherwise it seems impossible.
He's skilled, exciting, active, personable, and is doing everything right. You can only hate him if he's a threat to a fighter you have some strange obsession about.

GGG does a lot of subtle things which are very deceptive, his defence is underated and his movement across the ring is the best in the business at the moment. He always has his opponent off balance and is always in position to punch. He can make guys work hard even when he's not throwing purely by his pressure and positioning. And on top of that he has crazy power.
Offensive skills are underrated these days. A lot of casuals think offensive fighters just plod forward and that all the skill is shown by the likes of lara ... running and playing defence. But being a good offensive fighter requires just as much if not more skill.

His footwork is very deceptive. Macklin broke down how it is to actually be in there with Gennady
There was a thread on here but it was taken down.
Anyone have that video?

It's usually Floyd fans that dislike him. Not sure why.
They needn't worry, as obviously that fight will not happen.
Golovkin should fight Froch in England, or Mikkel Kessler.
Haven't heard many people speak negatively about Golovkin. Of course many would like to see him lose, since he is a threat to anybody from 154 to 168, which means a lot of fighters that have a lot of fans.
