I've always had the impression that Stephen Espinoza (SHO Sports Pres) and Al Haymon were tightly knit and operated as a team. Most people thought Stephen was basically working FOR Haymon, and not the other way around, and it's true, Stephen was a major puppet for Haymon.
With Kathy admitting to Haymon's plans of moving ALL of his guys to NBC, where does this leave Showtime? What is Stephen saying about all of this?
Is it a sign of a dying network? Is it time for boxing fans to cancel Showtime?
Truth is, fans don't care who promotes who, who manages who, which network fighters fight, what date, venue and all that crap. They just want to see competitive fights. Sometimes it's not even who fights who, but the frequency of the fights. Oftentimes, what seemed to be a mismatched fight turned out to become FOTY, ie, Bradley vs Provodnikov... That's why quantity is just as important as quality. It's a compensating factor. Low quantity plus low quality is just brutal, especially if your reason for subscribing to a network is because of boxing...
I hope Haymon makes it like the UFC. I dont give a **** anymore. It would make things scattered or a few years, but in th elong run it would be best to have one entity making all the fights. At that point there is no reason not to make tough fights.
Would totally love that... Boxing needs a single world class entity

Showtime will go back to buying fights and working with multiple promoters...
This may be a good thing for the duvas, dibella, etc.. Open some tv dates for these guys who have kinda been pushed aside since the showtime/gbp alliance started, and top rank was all over hbo
I***39;m holding all the cards, and people wanna play chess now.— Stephen Espinoza (@StephenEspinoza) September 26, 2014
If he plays chess with cards maybe that explains his overall lack of strategic ability, and the fact that no one ever told him that does probably mean he is easy to trick.
showyime is healthy and doing well in large art because of profits from sales of boxing ppv's, in addition to Homeland and Ray Donovan. See there 2103 3rd and 4th quarter earnings reports.
As for Espinoza-he started off strong in 2013 and has been a disappointment this year. Losing Canelo is a fireable offense IMO. Lets see what he does with 2013. He can still make big fights on sho-he can still work with any promoter accept TR, and he can still use the shobox series to showcase young fighters.
Espinoza either proves he's a boxing guy or just a lawyer whose friendship with a boxer got him his spot.
The thing is, no matter how good or bad Stephen does, Showtime will always be a second rate network compared to HBO. That's just the way it is. But to make matters even worse, Stephen is pretty damn incompetent on top of having to manage the lesser network already. Put the two together and it spells disaster.

Unbelievable that this guy can make Salka fights and sparring sessions on prime cable and still be awarded time slots by a mainstream network with less than $1 million each. This guy can get away with anything. This could be a sign that there would be more Salka fights coming.

Why on Earth does this guy tweet in such a repugnant manner all the time? He's like one of those Mayweather fans who do youtube blogs and only talk about how Floyd is a victim and what not.
The top talent will still be showcased on Showtime. Not sure why people are jumping the gun.
Did you see how much money Haymon payed NBC for the alleged deal? The fights on NBC/NBC Sports Network have to pull numbers. Massive numbers. Not Showtime numbers.
Espinoza is prob pissed. I mean why not just put some of those big fights on cbs. Maybe haymon played sho like a fiddle
It's not as easy as it sounds. But you're right about Haymon playing Stephen. Stephen should have known better than to trust a crook. No sympathy for the idiot.
Well hopefully Espinoza gets S-canned and Showtime goes back to quality fights. Be funny if they sign Main Events to an exclusive deal (well funny to everyone except Adonis Stevenson).

Im not sure Espinosa even has Showtimes best interest in mind. Who knows the real truth of it all.
