Check out Vic from ThaBoxingVoice speaking on rumours Haymon handed Skid Chocolate 500k to drop his title and a guarantee to earn 1.5 mil in his next fight.
Scum Chocolate turned down 1.4 mil to fight Korobov.

Its like the so called "real boxing" fans that hope a fight doesn't have any viewers, chooses one network over another or those that brag about illegally streaming fights instead of paying for them.
Streaming is a business decision though. Smart business actually because the viewer is paying less, cconsiderably.
Quillin had his first real test and dropped his belt to avoid it. I do have a hard time bashing a guy for accepting half a million to not show up for work though. It happens all the time, "step aside money" in this case is "drop the alphabet soup so JZ doesn't debut with one of my fighters and I will get you some more for another worthless belt"
Even after paying his team he still would've made about $1mill for the Korobov fight and had the chance to keep his title. Then the Jacobs fight for the inflated Haymon amount still would've been there afterwards.
By choosing the safe route - Quillin lost $500k, his title, and tarnished his brand. All that said, I favored Korobov over Quillin, and it looks like Peter & Al did too.
This right here.
No matter what anyone says Quillen ducked Korobov and lost out on at least up to 500k,judging by his previous performances rightly so too.clearly the man has as much faith in himself as Al has,not a great deal.
All the while ROC are proving to be great news for the boxing world.they will shake things up and bring a sense of urgency to all negotiations as opposed to letting them go to purses as Haymon fighters have been doing in ordered fights against guys not in the Haymon camps.the man is a leach and has prevented many exciting match ups the boxing world not only wants to see but needs to see for the sport to thrive.these cards like Salka Garcia,Floyd Chino 2are damaging to the greater good.
It'll be interesting to see how negotiations with Beyonce and Stiverne play out,King and Haymon will be rather reluctant to let this one go to purses I feel, though Stiverne may do very well himself out of this with his lions share of the purse.
Ya lets encourage fighters to drop their belt instead of fighting their mandatory. Some of you guys on here make me embarrassed to be a boxing fan. What a joke the fan base has become.
I don't usually agree with your dumb a.ss, but your spot on... I blame Floyd and pacquiao for the current state of boxing... It's obvious they used each other's name to milk the fans... And yet these stans still defend their every move... Not so much the Pac stans anymore, but they were up there before he got knocked out... I guess it's okay to fight bums to these stans as long as you're calling out top contenders, LSC, Broner, Stevenson, etc...

He accepted a $500k to turn down about $1mill and his title. He took the safest option.

^^^^option a, even with the promise of a million for a future fight, isn't his take home pay, he still has to pay his team with that.
Quillen can do what he likes but he can't be mad when fans call his ass out. He looks like a shook champion that gave up his strap rather than fight for it in the ring.
I agree. I just outlined the choice set. He should definitely be subject to criticism for dropping the belt.

I was one of the few who favored Korobov, so this is how I saw it for him:
Option A:
-$500k to drop belt,
-a 'promise' to get over $1 million for the next fight
Option B:
-$1.4m (minus paying his team and manager and promoter's cut, which probably leaves him with a guesstimate of $850k) to take the Korobov fight.
-defend the title, with risk of losing it in the ring(highly likely in my opinion)
If it was a choice between the two options, the decision hinges on the uncertainty of option A which is the 'promise' for a purse north of a million for the next fight versus the uncertainty of option B, Roc Nation Sports' ability to effectively promote the fight. If Haymon's the one whispering in his ear, then you know which way the advice is slanted
ward's a p4p ranked fighter :lol1:
his issues are promotional, not talent based. you probably can't distinguish between the skills and abilities of the two fighters because ward slips punches faster than your uninformed mind can process boxing information.
Jesus Christ NE, reading comprehension isn't your strong suit is it? When have I ever said anything about their skills?
You compared Quillin to Scotland because in your delusional, biased mind Scots are cowards for not voting "yes" in the independence poll.
Quillin is a coward so this analogy would be accurate if Scots were, in fact, cowards but they are not. But I won't hold that against you since your knowledge of Scottish history (or history of any other country than USA for that matter) ends on "Braveheart".
Atlantis is a mythical land, just like Andre Ward is a mythical fighter because nobody really knows if he actually is a boxer. Come Novemeber, he'll be inactive for a year and that's when he should be removed from all P4P lists.
Face it, your boy is commentator now and not a good one either.
Now could you please stop talking to me because reading your egomaniacal, biased posts is about as entertaining as Andre Ward's fights.

If that's the case then Ward is Atlantis

Even if this is true (as seems fairly likely) and not just BS or even damage limitation, I find myself sincerely hoping that this scheme backfires in some way.
Quillins actions are kinda contemptible but understandable, Haymon OTOH is looking more and more like a cancer in the sport.
It's an unpredictable sport and sometimes things just don't go to plan - ask Stevenson about the Hopkins payday that Haymon was gonna get him. There is no fights for Quillin for which $1.5mil wouldn't be absurdly overpaying him and I have to wonder if Quillin hasn't simply been lied to or at least misled.
you would have a point if that's the only fights these posters streamed. they stream all fights-as you and deevel916 are aware-so stop pretending its a response to bad fights and call it what it is. Real fans pay usually pay for a ticket or a ppv. if they are lucky-they get a comped ticket. They don't steal.
you don't control what people like. I agree with your description of the fight, that doesn't mean everyone saw it that way. Face it-some people (mostly the mainstream middle class casual fan that buys fights) seems to want to see Floyd fight whomever, same as it used to be for pac. The drop in numbers for both suggests the tide is turning.
Real fans don't steal fights illegally.
The best fights aren't on PPV in all honesty, most PPV events have become a joke now. I know there is the odd good card but it's too little and too rare.
In my opinion, if someone can't afford subs for a sports channel, then allow them watch boxing however they want, it's better than not watching it at all.
Dude didn't want to defend his title and took the clear easy way out of a defense in which there is always a possibility of losing to no namer in Korobov.
Call it what you want but Quillin chose not to defend his belt. In fact he decided to no longer call himself a champion.
lmfao so who exactly is going to give Quillin that 1.5M for his next fight? Is he fighting Canelo on PPV or something? I find it very hard to believe that Quillin is going to be guaranteed 1.5M for his next fight. Unless it's a PPV fight.
Let's be real here, if he fights Jacobs (who holds the title), there is no way Showtime, or anyone for that matter, is going to put up that kind of money for that event unless Jacobs is willing to fight for scraps. That fight wont even draw 1M viewers.
Santa Cruz got paid $750K for fighting a former sparring partner. It's unbelievable.
He got massively overpaid, but that fight was also on a PPV. Fighters get paid more, even if they are on the undercard.
