ill preface this thread by saying i got nothing but respect for floyd as a fighter, the man is one of the all time greats and the best boxer of this generation... but,,
maidana is nowhere near an elite fighter. canelo is a better fighter then him, maybe even guerrero is better then him. mayweather masterclassed those guys and took them to school. but with 2 fights with maidana, a slower guy who doesnt move well, telegraphs his punches and has no defense... he comes competitive with mayweather. how does a man go from looking better then ever and in a span of what, 6 months looks so much different?
prime floyd would not lose 1 rd to maidana, dead serious. i saw a guy who was getting hit with slow jabs and everytime chino lets his hands go he has success. mayweather got alot of help from bayless who didnt allow inside fighting. he barely threw over 300 pnches in a 12 rd fight.
whats happened to floyd? is he shot? is it just a couple off nights?
canelo nor guerrero are as smart as maidana, nor are their footwork anywhere near to par
mayweather hasn't changed much, he's still that kid that lost to castillo and got outworked for long stretched vs dela hoya and won alot of rd's by a punch or two with very little workrate
not to mention that guerrero and canelo are slow as fighters with cement feet trying to box with mayweather, they had the most retarded gameplan of any mayweather opponent
Aye yo my man, I thought Floyd wouldn't dance and move in the ring for a full 12 rounds? What's up with them legs? I ain't forget man! :lol1:
Very impressed. That said, I still don't like the way he looked. His age is really showing.
He looked far from unbeatable.
Maybe to some, that can't see what's infront of them.
But he was clearly well into decline. Even at 35.
He just fought two favourable styles in 2013.
The Cotto fight was significant, Miguel made Floyd look beatable that night. But a lot of people chose to believe that Mayweather deliberately made it entertaining and saw the Guerrero fight as further evidence of that. Maidana put that notion to bed.
at 36, he looked unbeatable

Age is what happened.
He is almost 40 years old and is clearly faded. A guy who relies so much on reflexes and split second reactions will always fade with age. You can also see him take more rounds off which is another age thing.
Still won the fight easy, but guys who shouldn't even be good enough to win rounds against Mayweather can now win several.
Fully agree, it's age. Even last night, he looked really good in the first three rounds, but by the midway point the same sharpness wasn't there. Everything was starting to look more laboured.
Have to give some credit to Maidana too, there are probably a number of guys out there who would still make Floyd look like he did against Guerrero. But his body is deteriorating and there's little that can be done to stop it.

He dominated the fight, it wasnt impressive because of all the bs that surrounded it, gloves ring, ref
He didnt show he was TBE and planets apart from maidana or any other fighters like he claimed himself to be. I thought this is where he would separate himself like he said. He graded himself c minus, after all the advantages he had, i think fans should do the same.
Maidana again did more damage than floyd even after landing all those punches.
thinking back you may be right. i had forgotten guerrero was getting busted up by some pedestrian c level k-pop singer lookin dude from japan.
guerrero actually in the past looked pretty good but now looks like a glorified brandon rios
:lol1: Yeah, Guerrero struggled through karaoke night and forgot most of the words. He's just not that good. Maidana is a better fighter.
Wait a minute. So SugarsMosley is IMDAZED? That's the alt of IMDAZED? Woooooow! Say it ain't so?!!
im honored that you capitalized my name, :flirt: that makes me feel important.
i bet if you were allowed u would put more than just two emotes, u sarcastic brotha you
i dont get it. what are u implying? is this sarcasm? if u think im a hating im not, i admire the incredible fighter that mayweather is.

Maidana is better than Guerrero. Canelo is more of a one trick pony than Maidana as well. Just goes to show you that cherry picking eventually runs you into someone who can do certain things better than you expect.

Not as easy as it looks. Bayless barely let them fight out of the clinch unlike Tony Weeks which clearly threw Maidana off his game. Mayweather to his credit was not on the ropes either which is where Maidana through most of threw most of those shots in the 1st fight. Mayweather would clinch and duck below the waist whenever Maidana got close.
Garcia even said as much. He told Maidana to avoid throwing those overhand shots especially in the center of the ring because Mayweather obviously would be much more prepared for it the 2nd time around. The only thing you have left after that is Maidana chasing Floyd around like a lost puppy since he was not allowed to do anything that gave him success in the 1st fight.
the fight basically was the same minus yea the fact he was not allowed to fight inside at all which was a key thing for him the first time around. result of that volume and punches landed dampened for both fighters esp maidana

Styles make fights, but then again, i just dont think hes the tbe, i expect him to get a tough fight every now and then if he is always facing the top competitors. But sit down and box with floyd and ur gonna get toyed. Maidana had a better strategy in the first fight.
He also had a better ref in the first fight. There is nobody to blame but Team Maidana. How did they let Kenny Bayless get the nod for the job? They should have asked for Robert Byrd or Hell Jay Nady but KB is too hands on and too quick to break up inside fighting. We paid too much money to watch the referee break up the action every 20 seconds.
It never happens "quickly." It just always looks like that.

I don't think he is as smart as you think. After the Point Deduction, and knowing that he had Floyd shook after his early straight right, Maidana should had focused and getting closer and setting up a KO shot. He kept on trying to box with him and only had mild success.
He didn't throw his hooks as weirdly/wildly or as often as he did in the Broner fight or in the 1st fight.

You people are stupid as **** after every win all you clowns do is nitpick. He DOMINATED Maidana.
From start to finish and made it look easy. Who cares what a Prime Floyd would do. News flash hes been past his prime for years. "So quickly?" lmfao
Dude really? Calling a 17 year old stupid for asking a question about a boxer who's aging. At least you taught him one thing, never to request your input about ish.....
Maidana is a lot smarter than you give him credit for OP. Dude is not just a dumb brawler. Plus he has legitimate 1 punch KO power to respect(Which Mayweather was very respectful of based on him picking out the gloves for Maidana to wear and all the moving he did tonight) unlike Guerrero and Canelo(GOOD puncher, NOT a great one).
yea i think hes a brawler, but im not in the crowd that calls him a face first c level fighter. hes not a ruslan. hes a top welter. i think canelo is a heavier puncher then maidana however,, i think floyd himself even said this
