You can't lose a fight that never happened. Quiilin never even signed for this fight. Sh*t on the guy all you want, he deserves it. But his punishment was losing his title and that was exactly what he deserved.
No that's not the same. Usually fighters going up in competition have their mandatory defense delayed/waived, so that wouldn't be a loss.
Not that I think this will ever happen, but it would be cool.
Who is going to be the judge on that you? I am sure that process would be perfect and work out great for every fighter~
Ok just to be clear if Demetrius Andrade's mandatory was Rose but he had an opportunity to fight Canelo does Andrade deserve an L because he skipped Rose for Canelo.
No!!!
Unfortunately, common folk do not have access to the inside scoop behind events that occur.
For all anybody knows, this move by Quillen could have a motive relating to his Manager and the new Roc Promotions winning bid.
In short, that is to state, that off-times fans aren't privy to the extenuating circumstances surrounding events, therefore it would be incredibly presumptuous to assume anything.
No, but I would not mind if such a statistic was kept although not all mandatory skipping is equal sometime they get skipped for better fights.
So it would be like any stat really in that you have to know the deal behind the numbers but it is something that could be kept. If mandatory's were more consistently meaningful it would be a better stat.
To me it's kind of like forfeiting. It's your mandatory fight and you ***** out? They'll never give an L for doing it but they should consider it so this bull**** stops happening.
I really consider what Quillin did the equivalent of losing.
I kinda see your point, but the loss in prestige, like not being able to announce yourself as 'MW champion...blah blah' and the loss in earnings ought to be sufficient.
Those who care enough about the sport to care will know what's up. Those who don't know the story will just be less likely to follow the guy cos he ain't a 'champion'.
Either way, I don't think you can pin a loss on a guy when he hasn't actually lost - I can kinda see the point though. I guess even announcing himself as an 'ex-champ' carries the implication that he lost anyway.
This is some kinda weird BS going on though, however it pans out.
