This guy is one of the best pure boxers in the game, if he fought Ruslan like this right off the bat he would have had an easy night instead of trying to mix it up with him.
He moves and bounces around and sets up that sneaky over hand right similar to B hop when he would catch guys off guard.
Anyone who says this guy is not a good technical slick boxer doesn't know boxing, the guy can box very well. He reminds me a bit of Bernard Hopkins style minus the holding.
He definitely has some skills. My only complaint is his movement can sometimes be ineffective. He voluntarily backed into the ropes way to much against prov. He will be a sitting duck for Pac combos if he does that again.
The Pac of 2009 maybe, but this version of Pac, highly unlikely. Pac had Bradley on the ropes several times and even threw with all his might a 10 punch combo that landed cleanly on Bradley's head and couldn't even drop Bradley.
Algieri will have no problem against this older slower weaker version of Manny.

The main argument against Pac vs. Algieri has nothing to do with Algieri's skills. It's mainly because Algieri's name isn't well-known or popular. Since Pac is about to retire, he needs to fight people who are well-established and have big names.
That's my take on things.
Algieri is very nice. I don't feel like he deserved a Pacquiao fight this quickly, but you can't take it away from him. Dude can flat out box. He would be a handful for most fighters.
Hey Don Collazo say sh1t to my face, you don't even know how to study boxing, I'm a student of the game, Algieri should not be an underdog in this fight, look how slow and weak Pac looks now.
Not having power isn't a precursor to a bad career. Pernel Whitaker never stopped tons of guys and look how well he did.
GTFO. You're comparing AliG to Pernell? I'm embarrassed for you.
The guy can box man, seriously I'm a student of the game and this guy is legit his boxing skills that is, Emmanuel Taylor is no slouch he was the favorite to win this fight too i believe? So Chris just pulled off two upsets before landing the Pac fight, Taylor and Ruslan, and Pac is the trifecta?
How would Floyd do against Chris? Maidana is flat foot and tailormade, but how would floyd do against a mover and technical boxer with height and reach advantage over him?
We have only seen him in against tall boxers with flat feet like Corrales with no slick boxing capability.
After he beats Pac, it would be nice for Mayweather to unify the titles with him, do you think Floyd would take the fight? Chris would have to go for combos galore against Floyd though because no way he wins in Vegas agaisnt Floyd.
You don't sound like a student of the game. What does "flat-footed' mean to you? Maidana has decent footwork, he was able to cut off the ring effectively against Floyd. And he isn't "tailor made" for Floyd, the fight proved ihe wasn't. Be intelligent and assess the fight as it actually played out - not what the media and sports books predicted it would.
The thing is, can Algieri keep Pacquiao honest with this punches? I think that's the key here, if he can then his style could very well frustrate Manny all night and make it close down the stretch. I think his gameplan will be to keep pumping a stiff jab and come in with that right hand when Manny tries to bullrush in and circle out, he'll be fighting with measured distance I'd imagine. It's an interesting strategy because he we haven't really seen anybody try to implement that on Pac-Man besides maybe Marquez and first Morales fight. However, another issue here is that Manny is a better boxer than given credit for, it's not that easy to outbox him.
You have picked against Pacquiao no matter how weak the opponent is. Quit calling yourself a Pacquiao fan because you clearly want him to lose. I have yet to read a post by anyone saying Algieri was not a good boxer because he clearly is a good boxer. Is he a good enough boxer to defeat Pacquiao? HELL NO. Pacquiao has defeated many fighters who not only are better boxers than Algieri but much harder punchers than the light punching Algieri. Pacquiao is a 1o to 1 betting favorite for clear reasons but throw your money away betting on under dog Algieri if you really believe he will win.

No1 is beating floyd unless he gets KO'ed/Stopped!!
on a side note:
Rigo is probably only guy that stands a slim chance getting a decision.
Well, Castillo already did beat him on points, so there goes your theory
Algieris massive lack of power will be his undoing. He will become a future Paulie Malignaggi for the 140/147lbs divisions.
If this guy had even the same sort of power as Guerrero, Khan or someone similar he could be in for a long successful ride but like I said his lack of power will force his opponents to disrespect his offense if they are pretty durable at taking shots and possess some of their own power.
Someone like Matthysse would walk through him, Postol would make it an ugly fight and Broner somehow would get knocked the f out I hope lol

This isn't gonna be a cake walk...
Theres no doubt in my mind that he beats Floyd and Maidana
