A poster just said Pac's gonna easily destroy this guy.
I GUARANTEE Algieri makes him look bad in numerous rounds, and Pac barely squeaks past this guy. GUARANTEE.
This fight sucks because no one knows who the hell Algieri is. Not because the guys some tomato can that can't box a lick.
Crap fight. Why? Because Algieri isn't a big name. Pac's about to retire and they pair him up with a fighter who isn't even well-known or popular... Plus the fight's in Macau. Definitely not going to do good PPV numbers.
Name recognition has nothing to do with the fight itself.
If that's the case, he wouldn't have beaten Bradley.
Bradley is crap, who thinks he is some great boxer?

Manny isn't that great in dealing with boxers (why Floyd beats him) and Algieri is taller and showed he knows how to used it.

You just said styles make fights, and don't even realize why Ruslan's style is more effective against Algieri.
Like I said before. This is Manny/Sugar Shane all over again, except Algieri has much more spring to his step, and way taller.
I'm done arguing this. I'm bookmarking this thread, and bumping the hell out of this after the fight.
Fair enough but calm down my friend because at this point it is all speculation anyway, there is no need to post a thread stating your opinion if you are not up for a little lively debate.
That is what these forums are for, and that's why they fight the fights, to know who is the better man
Styles make fights is 100% correct, the Russian only really throws hooks that are effective and eats way too many punches coming in, Manny is a completely different fighter who throws mostly straight shots from unorthodox angles with speed and more than a little pop.
And is also elusive so Algieri is going to have to find Manny first with the jab while walking a mine field, and he does not have the skill set to do it.
Manny's punches swell his opponents faces and Algieri from his last fight looks like a bleeder, and with no power to keep Manny honest, it is a mismatch.

Styles make fights. What's effective against one opponent is as effective against another.
Algieri has the style where you have to keep constant pressure on him, and have to bang his body non stop til the final bell rings. Since when does Manny fight like that?
This is gonna look like Manny/Sugar Shane, except Algieri has a lot more spring in his step at this point, and his jab will be in Manny's face the whole time.

People are sleeping on Algieri, as stated he is no Rod Salka that's for sure. It's also a terrible style match up for Manny. Manny isn't that great in dealing with boxers (why Floyd beats him) and Algieri is taller and showed he knows how to used it. Algieri not having power won't really be an issue if he just hits Manny coming in constantly, and with just enough pop to keep him honest. I expect Manny to win but I think he isn't going to look that good and we'll hear from the Fl*mo's how bad he is and blah, blah, blah.
Once Manny slips one of those jabs and lands that straight left...... gggggun shy after.
Cotto in 09' had a masterful jab. Don't act like Manny hasn't seen that yet.
My man, this isn't even close to the same Manny that fought Cotto. That's one of my points. This is a tough stylistic match up, AND he has to deal with the height, and youth.
And what about Manny's left? Ruslan punches harder than Manny at this point, and it didn't effect him at all for the rest of the 11 rounds.
Pac will test what he has early, imo will attempt hurt him early and see if he can. Ruslan did the same exact thing with great results in the first round, that shouldn't be overlooked. Being harsh, even though I said before that Algieri was tougher than he looked on paper, he should have gotten him out there. Same with Bradley. Credit to their hearts and toughness but we know that sometimes Ruslan stops fighting and therefore doesn't get the stoppage when he has someone right there for the taking.
Pac doesn't have that issue unless he is out there deciding to box. And Arum isn't dragging a LW up for him to do that all fight, he was him to get the stoppage imo.
so, after Pac shows that he can hurt him... he will pull back for a little while.. Aligieri will look like he's doing this and that but Pac will really just be working on some things. Then Pac will turn it on and get a stoppage. Algieri should fight Rulsan again.. he's is the one who has squeaked by in all of this.
That's the thing. He caught him cold in the first round, and Algieri wasn't effected by that shot for the rest of the 11 rounds.
Are you guys watching the same Manny as me? The guy doesn't have the same pop anymore, and Algieri's style, and height is a problem for Manny.
I'm not hyping this fight. The fight's not gonna make anything. I'm telling you guys this is a tough stylistic, and physical match up for Manny, AT THIS POINT IN HIS CAREER.

Ruslans slow 1 dimensional ass closed his eye and knocked him down..wtf do you think Manny is going to do? seems like ya'll have low views on Manny
Ruslan closed his eye because of one shot in the 1st round. He caught him cold. Ruslan has more power and snap than Manny at this point.
Ruslan's 1 dimension works better on guys like Algieri than Manny's. Manny isn't a space closer like a GGG/Ruslan. Are you a boxing novice? Do you seriously not see how this is a tough fight for Manny, or is this some weird agenda you have?
This pretty much if the Russian could catch him, bloody his face and knock him down more then once then Manny should shred him pretty easy.

I'm comparing their styles. Stop playing dumb. You know damn well why this fight is high risk, and low reward, but you just can't admit that this isn't an easy fight for Manny, at all.
And Ruslan IS slow, but what does that have to do with his pressure style, and body attack? Manny fights nothing like Ruslan. He tagged Algieri with some of his best shots, and couldn't do anything after the first knock down.
This isn't an easy fight for anyone in the division.

Ruslan wasnt hitting him clean, is slow and limited..are you comparing Ruslan to Manny??? wow
