A number of people (no names mentioned, you know who you are) were saying before the Brook fight that Porter would beat Mayweather. What are the feelings now?
Porter a hypejob, or was Kell Brook just the better man on the night?
Could Porter still beat Mayweather?
Porter would give Floyd a very tough fight. Floyd doesn't have the strength to hold/clinch Porter cleanly, Porter would get some work done on the inside. Also Floyd doesn't have a strong jab like Brook or even as much power as Brook, who isn't a big puncher. So he will find it hard to earn Porter's respect.
I would still pick Floyd to win, but it would be a tough, competitive fight. People on here are too reactionary. A fighter loses a fight and suddenly he's a bum and his past wins don't count for anything. People on here were saying Porter would struggle against Collazo yesterday. Ridiculous.
I think Maidana punches harder and he's also got a higher KO ratio against a little better opposition i'd say. He also has better punching technique.
No you said the Brook-Porter fight would be similar to Malignaggi-Porter.
Why can't you just admit Brook won? :lol1: Porter didn't land one clean shot all night, how is he supposed to win?
Yes, his techniques and skills are better than porter's.
You simply cannot assume a fighter loses to another he's never fought because a totally different fighter beat him. And you cannot develop amnesia at your own bequest to do so. Marcus Maidana recently gave Floyd hell. Porter is everything plus more that Maidana had to offer and Floyd is old.
I'm not doing a triangle theory here, I'm just saying Mayweather is a much better fighter than Porter. In every aspect.
I'm not developing amnesia, as I've stated, I think Maidana is a better fighter than Porter. He brings educated pressure - Porter just pressures without much on the other end. And it's not just from his fight vs Brook, I've seen his fights against Diaz, and that guy Le Greco too.

I don't know about harder, but he does mix in wild "home run" shots with a few efficient and effective jabs/overhand shots. Porter is much sloppier, which is saying something.

I never said Brook had no power
I questioned his chin and lack of experience fighting world level competition
And he clearly lost against Porter imo but thats besides the point

Floyd wins easily. Porter lunges when he punches. A counter-puncher would have a field day with him.
And LOL @ the guy who said Floyd doesn't have a good jab. He has a good jab when he uses it, like he did against Marquez, Hatton, and Canelo.
Mayeather by a wide ud. Porter is actually easier to hit when he charges in than Maidana is and Mayweather will hit him hard and often when he rushes in. Thten Mayweather will either tie him up or out fight him at close range.

styles make fights. i think brook does better against porter than 37 year old mayweather does.
after seeing the brook fight for porter, you obviously take mayweather. that said, the style of porter is better suited for brook, who was tall and strong enough to handle porter in the clinches.
if maidana has mayweather on the ropes, it's a good bet that porter gets him there too.
i also want to add that i'm allowing brits to enjoy their win. brook is a good fighter, and he pulled off a great win. i'm not going to mention yet that you're all now fans of the andre ward style of boxing, because that MFER brook freaking clinches.
next time ward is out, celebrate him. he does what brook did on a much higher level, and he's a less prolific clincher. brook tied a man up and walked him to the ropes, hoping for a break. ward walks a man to the ropes with the intent to work. there's a difference. i'm not saying that i flag eithe rman for it, i just want to make sure it is recognized.
in time, i'll address it furhter. as i've said, i do want the brits to enjoy their win. they don't get them too often on this level.
If there's one thing the British people love, it's being patronised by a self deluded yank.
We appreciate you giving us the time to enjoy Kell's win. I mean, it was really in the balance straight after the fight but now we've received your official commendation; the whole country has taken a palpable sigh of relief. You can really feel it in the air.
Ward gets mad love in this country. Do you get your information from boxrec?
You said that about the Brook fight too.

And add to that Maidana punches a lot harder than Porter, which is of course a must have if you're trying to do good work when you have a fighter against the ropes.

I will disagree regarding Floyd/shawn for one reason.
I think Floyd went to the ropes on purpose because he realized Maidana was very effective in the center of the ring. His overhand shots and his counters were surprisingly effective. Floyd really had no other option.
I don't know if Porter would be as effective as Maidan was in the center of the ring. He didn't appear to have much boxing skill and his corner didn't provide much instruction.

You know best -- as Ward's only fan around here. At least Ward is only clinching as long as necessary, then he performs rough house inside boxing or stays in the distance... Ward changes styles with ease...
Fixed it for you.
Exactly. Anybody that thinks Floyd would make easy work out of Porter DKSAB and is severely overrating Mayweather.
Overrating Mayweather? :lol1:
Are you serious? The guy who made easy work of Mosley, Canelo, Ortiz, Cotto, Marquez etc all in his 30s?
just recognize that kell brook used clinching as one of his chief tactics to win, and clearly practiced in the gym. that's honestly what won him the fight. porter couldn't do anything inside. brook was too strong in the clinches to get manhandled. he'd clinch, turn him, and walk porter to the ropes.
when ward's ou tthere turning ooponents into human pretzles, and beating on them with the free hand celebrate it.

First bold is idiotic. People who say that should admit themselves to a mental institution.
Second bold. I don't know. I find it hard to believe that a guy who was excellent vs Canelo just 6 months prior, has lost his legs. The rematch will tell us more about where Floyd is.
The difference is Canelo is the most flat footed fighter in the p4p top 10. Maidana under Garcia has learned ring smarts Canelo hasnt got. Floyd had no choice to be on the ropes because Maidana walked through his shots to get on his chest. When a heavy handed guy is throwing punches from all angles, all Floyd could do was cover up. Floyd made adjustments in the later rounds and be prepared to see that for 12 rounds. Although i think Maidana rocks Floyd in this fight.
