This is where people say Golovkin should of got a fight at 168
Yup. But when we tell people Floyd needs to fight real 154 lbers his fanatics say catch weights are ok since he's not a real 154
But Golovkin is somehow a real 168 lmao
Rubio has a very good chin and has power. He lacks speed and boxing skills but would be a tough opponent for anyone. At this level I don't expect him to do much but go to the distance with anybody
I can't imagine how horrific it must be to be so unstable and insecure like Larry :lol1:
Rubio isn't a world beater but he's a solid MW, especially considering the options. You can't be this dense nor naive to think that GGG and Cotto have the same power in terms of picking opponents. Cotto can pretty much fight anyone he wants, being the A side and lineal champ of the division, while GGG has far fewer options.
Between the two Cotto is the only one that can make this fight happen so logically posters who want to see these two square off will have a harder time accepting Cotto fighting anyone else.
Is Miguel gonna defend at 160? I really like Cotto, but I don't think he belongs at MW.
There is some guys he'd beat TBF but I don't think he'd have continued success in the division.
That was the plan for December, a title defense. He might not be a big MW, but the current crop aside from GGG isn't a very formidable bunch. I can see some having success, but he beats them.
As for staying power, his age and wear and tear would make that difficult. If he continues to with Roach and Gavin, I see him retiring within 2-3 years.
Larry is such an idiot. Takes the opinion of a bunch of Cotto fan boys and generalizes it for the opinion of Everybody. He holds NSB user Golovkin's opinion pretty freaking high
The only people who hated it were Cotto fanboys who didn't want him to fight Rubio and ***** all over the fight
Just all the people ******ting on the fight
Are you bring sarcastic? None of those comments hated on Cotto-Rubio.
Agreed. And the minute he struggles or loses, those same people will either jump ship and say he was always overrated. Or they'll just cry and moan like a lot of the Matthysse hypers did after what Garcia did to him.
Yeah a bit like how larry jumped off broner's ship.
When you knock out the lineal champion, odds are you belong in the division.

No one was creaming over the GGG v rubio announcement Larry, please quote some people saying otherwise.
Since cotto doesnt want to fight GGG and all the other middleweights are pretty much tied up then that made rubio the next best option.
GGG can do no wrong in here that is the simple answer

Rubio is a just about acceptable opponent for GGG - nothing more. He's tough enough and, on paper, no walkover, but the given the dearth of available top level opponents at 160, I'm happy that GGGs fighting Rubio rather than sitting on his hands for the next few months.
That said I really, really hope that a genuine offer emerges from the Froch poll.
Cotto got laughed at because he had belts for a division he shouldn't be in and people are mad so they wanna see him get put to sleep by ggg

It was called a cherry pick and a sh1t fight...not GGG is fighting Rubio and he is getting praised....why??
He's a good, solid top 10 MW and would be a good fight for any of them. The reason Cotto-Rubio was so universally booed was because GGG's fans wanted him to fight Cotto next, understandably.
I think Cotto should have fought Rubio and I was pretty sure that was the way he was going. The news that he is commanding a high enough purse that his December fight MUST be on PPV to satisfy his demands is probably why Rubio fell out of the running.
I still am not very sure who he's going to fight next. I find it odd that Canelo hasn't an opponent yet either....

cotto would have more problems with rubio than golovkin would. it seemed to me like everybody was recognizing that when the fight was brought up. was it a mismatch? not as much as golovkin rubio. it was a fight people didn't want to see for a guy who can choose who he fights.
golovkin's issue is this, larry:
these are the only fights he can get. he cannot choose who he fights.
cotto won't fight him, in spite of the fact that he's the best MW in the world. golovkin will fight cotto for free and in PR. he'll knock him out, and call him a good boy.

On the other side ggg doesn't have anyone to fight and I guess people at least people with sense are happy he isn't taking on a salka any thing else is just nut huggery
Rubio is a good solid middleweight don't see any reason why people would get riled up over a good matchup for either ggg or cotto. As of recently the amount of people getting upset over quality fights make me smh.
