I hadn't seen him fight before the Provodnikov fight, but I was impressed with him in that fight and checked out a couple of his other fights, one of them being against that Taylor guy Broner is fighting. He won that one comfortably. Algieri is one of the top guys at 140. Maidana certainly wouldn't 'kill him'. I would pick Algieri to win in a competitive fight. He was dropped by Provodnikov, but he wasn't that badly hurt, he recovered well and showed a good chin. I think Maidana's better than Provodnikov, but not by much, they're on a similar level. I would prefer to see Pac fight somebody like Thurman or Porter, but unfortunately that's not how boxing works at the moment, with all the network/promotion barriers, Pac's options were limited. I'd rather see him fight Algieri than guys like Provodnikov, Abregu etc.

I'm going with Thurman but it's a very winnable fight for Garcia. Garcia is a far better counter puncher than Chaves who managed to successfully counter Thurman at times. It's when Thurman goes into full assault mode that Garcia can catch him, that said Thurman's defense is underrated and many fail to see that he's actually defending when he's on the attack. I've seen Thurman minimize the effects of incoming counters as he's lunging in, even doing so off balance.

Lol we've never seen garcia at 147 so i can't say. Though one thing Ii can say is this thread and all the opinions sound alot like it did last September when everyone el was saying how matthysse would decapitate garcia in 3 rounds. 165 is at around 170 isnt it? :P I dont think he's bigger. But if he is he wont have a big size advantage to help him absorb the punches as much. And how well will his power carry up? Keep in mind he hasnt KOed anyone of note with his so called power. He's got decent power at 140 but nothing scary, at 147 where he belongs, I can't even see him hurting the top guys let alone KOing them. I don't think he can beat anyone in the top 10 at 147.

Thurman as far as I know walks around at about 160-165. Contrary to popular belief, he's not that big a welterweight.
