First and foremost, before someone says me that this is a hater topic, I like the guy, he never gave any reason to don't like him.
But I don't understand why so many people talk about Provodnikov as some kind of monster puncher. That's a misbelief. He has a "fan friendly" style, he is a true brawler but if you look at his resume you should realize that from his 26 fights, just 16 was a KO/TKO victory for him, which is 61,5%. Is that really that terrific? A few example around his weight: Rios' (65,7%), Alvarado's (62%) or JMM's (63,5%) KO ratios are all higher but somehow most of the people don't claim they are knockout beasts. So what makes Provo different? I know that his hayemakers are spectacular but that doesn't mean that they are very effective. I don' say that he is pillow fisted but not that special, either.
I meant he was slurring his speech in the post fight interview. And in another interview on ESNEWS he said of the three Ruslan hit him the hardest.
I was too lazy to type, I have a broken finger
I knew what you meant, was just being a smarta$$.
Bradley had yet to fight JMM at that point so I doubt he said that after the Ruslan fight. Just sayin.

I think many people see to much into the Bradley fight. I can't prove it and maybe you have other opinion but IMO that fight was that tight because Bradley fought a bad tactic, he literally tried to brawl with Provodnikov and we know that Provo has good chin and decent power and Bradley isn't a knockout artist...
I think if they would fight again, Bradley with a normal tactic would put a clinic on Provo, maybe there will be a rematch and we will see. I think if Bradley would did the same thing against JMM he would get knocked out by Marquez but on that night Bradley foughtwith a good strategy.
However that can be true that he hasn't got so many KO/TKO-s because he isn't a good finisher and he is pretty one dimensional, but I think his pure power is overrated too. I mean look at the guys like the "pre Garcia" Maidana who is IMO improved much with Garcia, but I talk about the more simplistic, cruder pre Garcia Maidana. His KO/TKO ratio was around 84%, and with the Khan and Alexander fights he has pretty much the same level of opposition and experience as Provodnikov has now or maximum just a little worse.
I don't say that Provodnikov isn't a hard puncher but clearly not an elite puncher as Matthysse, Maidana or Thurman. Or if you still think that his power is bigger than those boxers or the same then Provodnikov is lacks of other very important things what he would need to live with his power more often.
And someone said that he knocked out Alvarado, JMM knocked down him too and Rios knocked him out too, that's not a big case. And Provodnkov's biggest win is Alvarado, I gave him the Algieri fight too (115-111 or 114-112) but I'm not convinced by Algieri yet and that's also not an official W.
big puncher, not a good finisher, stamina too sht
he'd have plenty of ko's if he went to the body a little more tho, drag guys down to his sht level of output, or atleast make them a more available target, but no, huge headhunter
Ofcourse he's a power puncher, he's just not a knockout puncher. I have never seen Tim Bradley ever get battered like that. Also Breidis Prescott who isn't a small puncher either went 12 rounds with Alvarado landing huge bombs on him and not once did he really hurt him... what did Ruslan do? he stopped him.
Bradley was slurring his words right after the ruslan fight in the post fight interview, he had a concussion, and said nobody hit him as hard as Ruslan he said, not Pacquiao or Marquez.
Bradley said Ruslan hit the hardest of the three.

Matthysse clearly hits harder than Provodnikov.
He floored Corley numerous times, whereas Provodnikov couldn't floor him once.
He dropped Peterson, who is pretty durable, three times and stopped him.

When people see a swarming style the automatically think that the pressure fighter has power, not always true!
Middleweight King Jake LaMotta was a pressure fighter and could present a higher than average punch rate but Jake was not a huge puncher.
I think lil' Rock has better than average punchers power and if he can maintain a higher the average work rate he will have success more times than not. The fight with Algerie was flunkie in that Chris had a seriously damaged eye that added to his emergency movement plans. Rock became unmotivated
then didn't perform they way he needed to with that type of fighter in that situation.
He's learning on the job and it will be interesting to see how he performs the next time out.
Ray.
power is not all about ko.
sometimes the ko is just not there.
watch the opponents.
do they wince/grimace when hit? are they extra defensive? do they brace for incoming punches? do they move around more than usual? do they have huge bruises and cuts?
those things tell you a lot.
Serious topic? Rios, Alvarado and Marquez can all punch.. Provodnikov is on par with them, but it's obvious he's the harder hitter of the group who has limitations on stamina/focus to make his power not count as often as it should.
