Is it a bad thing Haymon makes sure fighters get paid well?
If there was an unlimited supply of money in boxing, then the answer would of course be "no". But there isnt. There is indeed a limited amount of money. So when Danny Garcia gets $1 million or whatever to fight Salsa, thats $1million that is no longer available to make a truly meaningful or interesting fight.
All of which has NOTHING to do with Arum. Bob is his PROMOTER, not his manager, accountant, financial advisor, or tax attorney.
Manny's manager is too close to his promoter, Im unsure whom interest he serves. From what i read, Manny tried to get his own accountants but his promoter made things difficult. Hopefully im wrong just seems Manny affairs are a mess for whatever reason.
Andre Ward got paid $2million to fight Edwin Rodriguez (Rodriguez got $1million I think)
Stevenson got like $1million to fight Fonfara (I think)
Danny Garcia is probably getting 500,000+ to fight a plumber

Yeah and as long as the TV networks keep allowing these fights on the air and paying for them its never going to stop. Im no network executive and I obviously don't know all of the details but I would think if they only accepted decent fights when they are dishing out huge purses maybe we wouldn't get so many terrible matchups.
Promoters and advisors are going to jump all over a high paying fight against a lesser opponent every time rather than the tougher fight if they have the option, its the safe bet for their investment and they don't give a **** about putting on the best fights, only making money. Networks have to stop being willing to pay so much for garbage fights so these guys realize if they want a tune up fight they have to take tune up money, not every fight is worth millions.

That's the problem tho. Because Manny allows him to he all those things
Gbp get paid good...specially under Haymons guidance....TR fighters also get paid good but not as good as gbp...bob arum is and always will be a scumbag...just look at all the IRS trouble pacquaio is in and all that funny business with vision quest and koncz....

Their top guys make about the same amount. I'm not sure who's under or over paid. Broner and Garcia regularly get 500k plus for their fights. Khan a million. Comparable to top ranks second tier.
GBP has solid under cards, so the cake gets split in to thinner slices. Maidana could've made $3 Million Plus (and not $1.5) if they didn't have Khan-Collazo on their last card.
Regardless Boxing has the heftiest purses in all of combat sports.

You'd have to put that on Haymon, he's the one negotiating their deals.
The bigger names are all well paid on both sides of the fence, it's just the huge gap between those and the less well known names taking home 80-100k.
Mares only made 25K more than in his last fight before Haymon.

Ward is not with Goldenboy or Top Rank
Tell me how you feel about this, personally I believe GBP fighters are underpaid, but that's me.

Top Rank doesn't seem to have many fighters so maybe they can afford to pay them more, especially since the undercards are so bad they do not have to spend much money on them...but that is just a thought
