If it had done some ridiculous number you would just be on here saying he is lying and be posting the exact same things about Showtime losing money.
Whether they lose or make money effects my life in no way. All I'm saying is, dont brag when you do big numbers and wonder why fans are fixated with #'s, then tell these very same fans not to focus on the #'s when the numbers arent as impressive.
Espinoza stated that the fans shouldnt be fixated with ppv #'s and instead should focus on the quality of the event. Well he can thank his boy Floyd for that. It was Floyd who started this entire ppv craze and uses it as a benchmark when it comes to other fighters. Had Floyd/Maidana done 1.5mil - 2mil ppv buys, I can bet my eyeballs that Espinoza would have announced it the day it was confirmed. You cant brag when you have record breaking #'s, then say that fans shouldnt be concerned with the #'s when they arent as impressive.

Whats important to me is the best fighting the best, they have all this talent over there and for no apparent reason there not fighting each other. Why? Why aren't these guys being matched 2gether? Broner, lucas, garcia, peterson, the ghost, all these fn fighters and there not fighting each other?
lucas has fought garcia and petersen right? garcia fought khan. berto fought ghost. matts fought garcia.
Are you sure haymon's fighters are not fighting each other or are you just caught up in NSB whining because broner and matts are not fighting 9/6?

Let's be honest, they are all robbing showtime. In some sense it reminds me of the wrestling days when bichoff was running wcw and wasting turners money lol.
which is more important for you-a fight be great on paper and you want to watch it and it sucks. or a fight sucks on paper, you watch it, and its great.

This guy's business model is not geared towards benefiting subscribers as Duva noticed in one of her interviews. Showtime's focus is on PPVs, unlike HBO, which prefers non PPVs like this chart shows:

Hbo has more subscribers than show. But 5 of those fights from hbo are show time guys now. 4 of the top 7 are showtime fighters
Hopefully he gets fired soon. His duck of Kovalev for Hopkins was pathetic and shameful
That's a shining example of the difference between HBO and SHO. HBO would have made Stevenson vs Kovalev a non-PPV attraction. I have to wonder how many people bought Stevenson vs Fonfara on PPV weeks ago.

But bro the nsb accountants say that's a lie. Show time is broke
Even if they did take a bath in those 2 events, Espinoza would never admit it publically. This is the same guy who was saying Floyd/Guerrero did over 1mil buys.
The reality is the guys over at showtime are feeding us garbage at this present moment. So until the cards get better I won't be watching. I watch boxing for competitive fights not supposed "names" vs tuneups. Paul Williams just did and interview saying the state of boxing was depressing at this moment. I agree.

SI.com: There is the perception that you guys have taken a financial bath on two of his three fights ...
Espinoza: It’s been puzzling hearing that. That characterization is so disconnected from the financial reality. It’s tough to combat that mischaracterization because we are not going to open our books for the general public to peruse and investigate at their leisure. But one thing is clear: If we weren’t successful with the events we have been doing, we would change. I’m not sure there is much I can do to combat the mischaracterization. It may continue. But we know internally here that the deal has been a huge success.

Canelo vs. Lara is garbage?
Brook vs. Porter, Bika vs. Dirrell, Figueroa vs. Estrada is garbage?
SMH...
Canelo vs Lara isnt on showtime. Its a ppv fight.

He means he is just going to make up and believe whatever he wants no matter what the reality is.

I found this interview to be worthless. It's just Espinoza defending his company from fans who either don't believe him or aren't happy with him.
Seemed like a decent read, he answered questions to issues fans discuss on this forum all the time. What did you expect from the interview?

It was worrying that he trash talked the super-six at the end. That was one of the greatest things to happen to the sport in recent times. Gave us great fights, brought great fighters to mainstream success as well.
He definitely sounded like a lawyer, and its pretty clear that the Floyd situation has been a flop with how he was trying to spin it.
